  1. another option is to unscrew the little contacter on your door pillar (its like a spring loaded plunger with a rubber boot around it). This has a spring inside it which is the culprit. just open it up by taking off the rubber boot, poping of a few clips (make sure the wires don't fall down the hole when u have the contacter removed) and remove the spring. chime gone!!!!! The only down side to this is that the interior light doesn't come on for the drivers door automatically, but its easy enough to flick on manually. you don't have to do this for the passenger door, because for some reason only the drivers door activates a chime. this way it doesn't effect the chime when you leave your lights on, which to me is important than having your door open.
  2. hey guys. i'm putting rear speaker in, and i'm 'trying' to make a custom rear parcel shelf. just wondering how the rear parcel shelf is removed (the board with carpet on it where your're speakers go). I had a quick go at it but it looked like it was going to break and i'm not one to force things if i don't know exactly how it works. do you have to removed the back seats? If so, whats the best way to removed the back seat? any help will be appreciated.
  3. hey guys, just wondering what people have done for car mats? I am just after something plain, preferrably rubber, but can't find anything. I tried ringing nissan hoping they would have just a standard nissan mat (i purchased thick rubber subaru mats for my liberty), but nissan where no help. just after some ideas on what other people have done. cheers
  4. that would be a great help the unit is a Kenwood DPX - 910MD here is a picture of it if that helps. http://www.users.on.net/haines/images/skyl...0mdheadunit.JPG i linked 'off site' as its a largish photo and didn't want to cause any hassles to 'dialuppers'. cheers
  5. thanks guys for the replies. i knew there was some sort of equipment out there to broaden the frequency range...just didn't know what it was called. I didn't really want to get rid of the head unit is it looks smick as (i worked out it was around $2000 worth )....you could play with the motorised front panel all day LOL! its also got the graphic equaliser too if i can work out what buttons do what that would be great. from the results i found on the web, what i could make out was that it was just japanese guys listing what equipment they have in their cars....i couldn't make much out on the japan kenwood site, but i'll have a play around with online translaters. can you actually get copies of the manuals online?? because i couldn't find any after i read hippy's reply. a MD recorder is on my shopping list as well i live and work out at Toowoomba (so thats about 3 hrs from the G. Coast) thanks again, i will be investigating more now that i know the name of the critters.
  6. Hi all, first post, so take it easy on me I just recently bought a 95 r33 gtst...the smile hasn't been wiped from my face yet. Now it has a 2 din kenwood head unit installed in the car....unfortunatly its a japanese version it plays cd's perfectly, has MD built in to the slide down panel, stacker capability and can pick up ONE radio station, woohoo. My two questions are: 1> can anything be done to the system to make it pick up aussie frequencies? Can I install a seperate 'thing' or something that bypasses the head units tuner and uses another way to pick up stations. i have no idea as you can see hehe 2> I have no idea how to get access to the multitude of functions of the head unit as it all scrolls across the LCD in japanese :| (altho i can get a image of a race car scrolling hehe nice) , and pressing random buttons just results in the thing beeping at me hehe. Can i somehow get acess to some sort of instructions? the unit is a Kenwood DPX - 910MD. Doing a google internet search just resulted in about 8 pages of matches all in another language that i can't read hehe I haven't really had much of a play with it, as i only got it friday, and i spent all day today remodling my garage to fit two cars in it. My other baby (03 Subaru RX Liberty) had to spend the night out on the footpath btw, its seems i will pick up some nice tips from these forums, good job on all the help to other forumers!!!! hopefully someone can help me out a little cheers
