  1. I spoke too soon... hurt my back again! That said it's healing really quickly this time so I'll just have a couple of weeks off squatting/deadlifting and then should be back into it fingers crossed

hopefully I can make states... I'll do a little weight cut to get under 90kg birds... but if back still no good I'll do bench only in the 100s

going to switch to sumo so prob won't be pulling too heavy until I get technique/mobility down

  2. PTC don't do speed/dynamic days

All good Mitch, just means your getting nice and tight and using leg drive. As you get stronger you'll be able to press the same amount and keep your ass down.

Also squat more = bigger ass... harder to get it off the bench! haha

  3. you initiate the lift with your legs but you must keep your back tight so that your hips don't rise too early in the lift (before the bar leaves the floor)... then as your legs straighten and your hips rise it's all back

  4. Which gym?

I wouldn't worry about where your knuckles are pointing, as long as your not having wrist pain it should be fine... if your worried just grab a set of wrist wraps and bench in those... they'll keep your hands from bending back too far

  5. Cheers, 600+ was the goal for this year so I achieved that comfortably.

I just tried to get as heavy as possible for this comp so weighed in at 94.5kg. I'm now carrying far too much fat so will clean up my diet and keep training and see where it takes me.

  6. Cheers. That's what I squatted at States earlier in the year (with wraps). I should squat around 230kg on Saturday which is a decent improvement seeing as I sat out for a few months with a bulged disk in my back.

I'll take 225kg on my second and depending on how it moves I may go for more than 230kg.

  7. What kind of numbers are you looking at for each lift to go over 600?

I should squat around 230kg, bench hasn't moved since Nats (actually gone backwards if anything) so I'll be happy to press 140kg again and I should deadlift 250kg+... pulled an easy 240kg today

amazing my deadlift feels better than my other lifts and I really haven't been training it as frequently or as heavy as my other lifts... weird

  8. Haven't been on this forum in ages, very busy with work and any spare time I'm at the gym training

Training all lifts again, back seems to be fully recovered. Chiro was impressed with the time frame for my rehab. He figured I might be out a lot longer.

Training for the ProRaw ProAm at the moment, although just coming off a nasty flu that kicked my ass so not where I'd like to be. Just want to get another comp under my belt as I haven't competed since states. My goal was 600+ kg at 90kg this year, I'll go over 600 but my bodyweight is hovering around 92-93kg and I won't be cutting.

So after a really good start to the year it's been all over the place ever since. Hoping 2014 will be more consistent.

The new gym is awesome and some huge improvements from many lifters. Pretty amazing to watch really.

  9. Thanks Nick

Noone has said i have big hands before, I think it's the position my hands and camera when taking selfies that makes them look big, but thank you for making me feel self conscious about them

Don't take it seriously, I just couldn't miss the opportunity to have a dig at Birds;)

Markos: that kid doesn't know how lucky he is... hope he keeps up with it
