  1. Thankyou to whoever broke their cars this morning and got jarrod and myself out there! (hope all is well) was an awesome day, sandown is such an awesome track, even if ya rotors are corrigated... Thanks to the officials, flaggies and timers etc, was well run. (I think they need to introduce an oil/fluid flag so people know to stop ASAP). anyway, ill be posting up some pics tommorow.

That would be me ;) , happy i could help .

  2. The first tyre pictured is the RA1 and while not in the league of the re55 it will certainly produce better lap times than the RT215 . Toyo make the R888 to compete with the bridgy and it has has very good results , compared to the equivelent yoki AO48's at the recent historics( which it has been recently approved for ) round at PI.

  3. Roy,

They want to slpit the associate class up because basically the ex-pre there doesn't want to compete against Frank. He wants a trophy so that he can show it to his wife in the hope she'll be impressed and maybe give him some loving (its been a while you see).

I think budge wants to exclude not just skylines but the rest of the commos( espec the blue and red ones ) and the mx5's then maybe he might get third .

ps Snowy , watched that serious perf. 8 dvd yesterday and saw the Datsun getting another flogging around calder , saw the 52 sec time and hoped that was the short track you were using. :P

  4. WHAT????

God damn. Too many people going way too fast! One day soon there is going to be a BIG stack at one of these sprint days then we'll see a bunch of new reg's come in.

15's at sandown is so quick i cant even comprehend how a "strret" car can get that time , i can manage a high 20(happy with that) at best and andrew/frank are flat/low 20's but 15's is miles away . These cars would have to make about 400 rwkw and wiegh in at around 1200kg?.

Andrew is right considering a roll cage isnt required at all for these timed sprints when one of these cars leaves the track ( lets hope it doesnt ) there isnt going to be much left of it.

  5. Paul , interesting thread and a good read but i have one question . I use a knock link on my track car and notice depending on what fuel i fill up with ( same brand BP ultimate) the knock link sometimes picks up a few knocks on different tanks . You might get "good" batches of fuel and "bad" batches and while adjusting your mixtures to suit every tank is fantastic you might be chasing your tail for most of the time.

  6. The track was a shocker once wet and the R34 didnt stand a chance , i came onto the straight at about 50km/h and lost the front / then rear once it hit the surface change , the day had to be cancelled or more would have hit the wall.

  7. The purple r33 ran a 1:02:61 on super cheaters , was a decent day and we are lucky the rain held out for so long . I feel sorry for the r34 owner , its an excellent vehicle and hope its back out soon enough.

  8. Hey roy , im a bit of track whore just like your self and attend all wrx days and as the skyline guys are their often its made these days heaps better.

VL's are worth nothing these days so they make a decent base as everything has to be changed from std anyway . Im running a supra 5 speed, std diff , vn 330 mm disc with a 2 spot caliper which are easy and cheap bolt ons. Engine has just been rebuilt and is still a carby 304 but is fitted with rollers and a solid cam , makes 200 atw . Shocks are just pedders shit atm but im looking at something a little more focused for next year . Tyres are toyo R888's which have helped with the times coming down.

The car is a good match for the rwd skylines as the times are close except at sandown where your r32's times i had no hope in catching.

Ill be sure to come and say hello at calder.

ps nice pic in front of the pub at benalia

  9. Yeah the VL was there as well. It's quick and Adam can steer as well. He really drove the wheels off it at Winton.

Thanks snowy , the big fat ass wagon is my mates and is actually a stock 5ltr with side pipes , but it does have some good suspension and brakes to help it . I know the interior looks stripped but its an executive and they all look like that .

Actually bass junky had a couple of slides in front of my car also but managed to keep it of the grass and i reckon hes the last of the late brakers as i had a go at him into the left onto the back straight and he flew past my braking point.!!

  10. Dont be worried to much about COLD pressures as long as they are ball park it will be fine . The key is to get to your designated hot pressures asap . Say 38psi is your target ( thats mine for toyo888's) ill start cold at 35psi do my sprint ( 4 laps) and when car returns to pits quickly reset pressures to my target of 38 psi as they have usually gone over this . Ill do this for the next seesion and then find that they are all at my optimal pressure by the third sprint and no need to reset.

  11. Hey andrew have you guys got a championship ladder like the rex guys? , it would be good to see what times your cars are doing . Ive got the VL commo thats at most of the events and during the last winton their was a TX5 that was part of the group i was in which i noticed was running in the 41's . Is that for real ? cause my dad owns one of these and this thing must be a weapon in a straight line or the driver is very very gifted.

  12. A general comment though, shouldnt really gloss over flags etc in driver briefing, and should not assume that ppl have been to the track before. If it had been spelt out in the driver briefing, it would most likely not have happened, plus a few first SAU guys had no idea about flags

I agree with that Roy and ill mention it to motorsport and the club president .

  13. Well done SAU for a big turnout at the wrx club and well behaved too , my name is adam ( rs liberty club and commonwhore driver) and i met andrew( snowman) and a few others at the wrx club motorsport meeting and due to the commo not being ready a was helping with the driver training for the day .

The skyline boys attracted a heap of attention throughout the day ( i hope you guys dont mind all the photos of your rides being taken)and im sure most poeple are looking out for a GTR grudge match between snowman and frank in the near future . Having all the associate cars sure makes the event interesting and im looking forward to seeing you guys at the rest of the events .

The only thing worth mentioning is that its a good idea to work out where the pit entry is as a few of you guys got caught out and missed it and proceeded very s l o w l y around the track :D , but im sure the clark of course would have had a friendly chat to you

  14. Hey guys , just keeping this in the vic part because im sure theres an easy answer . Fitting 2 defi guages ( with controller) on the weekend and just want to know where you can feed the wiring through the firewall? , i had a quik squizz but nothing jumped out at me so i thought id post up to make it easier . Also with the defi's , one is an oil pressure guage so it has a fitting/sender to screw into the oil pump , im guessing the original sender is located their and just want to know if the fitting supplied will screw into the existing sender or an adapter is required.

    thanks adam
