  1. yeah id agree it could be that the new oil youve put in is to heavy on winter start or its telling you youve got oil pressure troubles and your lifters are running unprotected for a few seconds.

id be thinking about perhaps dilluting your current oil with somthing a bit thinner on cold starts...

my commodore used to do it if the oil wasnt topped right up and the oil was too thick

  2. Well it makes good bussiness sence for them not too : ). But i still wouldnt mind finding out... Surely someone has a link to a good supplyier that has some form of garuantee of the car description they give and has all the contacts in a lil black book who can send a car that meets the few requirments

  3. So how do you find out in between all this who is goin to ensure the aircon degas is done and you have the certificate to prove it? Also who takes it to the docs for it to be shipped?

Is all this done by a supplier directly in japan?

So your saying brokers basicly use these suppliers anyway and you can get somone in jpn to it cheaper. the proplem is finding out which supplyers in japan know how to do all the right things before they send it to you on the boat.

Ive got a deposit with j-spec atm to get a 15yrold before it ends and if theres a way i can find somone in japan and half the price to do it (safely) send me some more links i dont speak jpnese either

so what supplier does J-spec or prestige use????????? why dont i just use them

    Mazda 13B Rotary 654cc

    4-Barrel Hitachi Carburettor

    power: 135hp @ 6000rpm

    torque 19kg-m @ 4000rpm

    Compressiona Ratio 9.4:1

    Top speed 157km/h

    Weight 1575kg

HAHAH thats insane!! I think its cool  and this car was available in australia? raapp raaap raaaap coming from a HQ would be enough to make any redneck cry (mate your red motors only running on one cylinder) lol. perfect canditate for a 13bt conversion

  5. I think prestige or J-spec should organise to bring out a series of bumber stickers or somthing with a smart catch!!!!!!!

Like... i duno.. theres no such thing as free trade, ask jim loyd, haha i duno but, regarding the whole deal and then organise a cruise especially in canberra just to get some attension of some kind, turn some heads so ppl know wats goin on and if we can spin it our way first then get it out in the open it would definatly swing in our favour with the govournment having to respond to more of the public.

I know imports have a relitively bad rap with the public so it could be hard to play right but no one likes unnessicary resriction put on them especially by goverment, nor do the govornment like a public display of defamation !!

It could be a very powerfull influence !! hell, id buy one for a reasonable price :kick:

    wat do you guys think?

  6. I agree!! I hope you guys made yourself heard!!

The main reason i think the're scared is not the dent on the local market now but when the 80 series cruiser comes out car yards will begin to stock up however thats no reason to scrap the law. Perhaps change it in a way that limits the number of cars a sales yard and individual can import somthing a little less harsh.

Alot of people seem to be saying "ohh it doesnt matter anymore cos i just got my car woot!", but is that the only import there planning on getting for the rest of there lives? Its only going to get harder to import from here on in.

mmmm maybe Im just pissed cos i wanted a cefiro or 4dr skyline even before they were cool and still havent got one  now im goin to end up gettin a old faded 88 but probly just have to put up with a local car on the cheapo, guess that will help lower the emission levels hehe (another exuse they were bithching about)

yes raws is available for a selection cars or will be soon but for somthing like a cefiro or or famila somthing a little rarer just isnt profitable to comply to me that isnt a free choice and goin to put smaller bussineses out of the picture but owell its just a law, theres other cars to buy :headspin:

  7. Kor'axis   what if we got their email addresses and just flooded their inboxes (with hate mail) for 15years....

very little id say.. They didnt take any notice of the genral responce given over the past year or so leading up to this rule change and they wont start now... its such a shame i begin to wonder if there was more i could have done to prenent this change  (reaches into bathroom and begins putting talkum powder in a letter addressed to dotars listing demands) :sadam:

    13) When will the Regulations be amended?

Amendments to the Motor Vehicle Standards Regulations 1989, implementing the

change, are expected to be Gazetted before the end of March 2005.

    14) Can I continue to import vehicles 15 or more years old until the

    Regulations are amended?

Yes. Until the Regulations are amended, the 15-year-old scheme continues to apply. However, the vehicle must be 15 (or more) years old when making the application.

    Another contradiciton.

i think there saying that you can still import somthing only 15 years old so nothing newer than 7 of feb 1990 untill the end of march and the people that have already bought after 8th of feb 1990 as of today are ok but not you cant try and buy somthing with a build date of for example june 1990 as of tomoro :headspin:

  9. is it just me or did i read the email from prestige wrong? it stated that as of today 07/02/05 cars built during and prior to 1988 can still be imported just not 1989 up, so in theory as of 01/01/06 cars with a built date ??/??/1989 will be back on the RAWS import list???

No regardless of the date only 1988 models can be imported the old way untill it reaches the time that they become 30 year old cars or at least that is my understanding so so 1989models will be back on the list in 30 years time yay :headspin:

  10. Im curious if hooking the speedo up is a drama when goin from the cefiro or R32 rb20det box to the R33 box i wasnt sure who but i was told its a digital pickup or somthing on the 33s intstead of a cable is this true? Is an aftermarket speedo needed? :wizard:

  11. Hi,

I need to find out basicly the same thing. but i want to find who i get them off, who fits them if i shouldnt do it myself and does who ever sell them sell the other parts that ill need to get a R32 ready to be certified?

Can somone give me a number that i can call for advice in rellation to buying some sort of kit or package that has all the parts that i will need or who the name of the distributor is who does those sort of parts?

Im from up in Rockhampton btw so the nearest supplier if you can help me.

    thanks

  12. I work in a motorcycle shop in Rockhamton and the first thing we say to a customer when they ask what fuel to run in their bikes is DONT RUN OPTIMAX then followed by what fuel is suitable. The fuel is heavier and thicker and it fouls the plugs very very quikly this goes for all bikes and jet skis. many a time have we had someone come in with a fresh full tank of optimax wondering why their bike stopped working. :bonk: I guess it might not matter in a car becuase the sensors might pick it up and the ECU would a adjust the mixture in some way. It also turns your plugs a funny colour aswell i guess thats because of the type of chemical used to boost the octatane. Pity you cant run good ol avgas in your cars becuase you cant beat it :D
