  1. I hear ya. I drove a Skyline with a button clutch in peak hour traffic on the freeway once. I was about ready to kill someone lol.
  2. I actually prefer driving a manual as my daily. As long as it's not a button clutch, it doesn't bother me driving a manual in traffic. Each to their own.
  3. Have any of you guys bought off JapCars in Fawkner? Was there the other day and they had two very nice looking Evos and a mint S15. They told me they will have a couple of R33s in a couple of weeks so I was thinking of going and having a look.
  4. That's what I'm trying to do now. I'm just waiting on people to get back to me now. I've already abandoned my initial idea of looking at only black ones, now I just wanna find one in the best condition possible that has a at least some of the mods I want so it leaves me with less to do later. Thanks for the tips mate. GimpS-R34, now you've got me wondering what you had originally posted! lol
  5. Yeah I'm waiting for that guy with the white 33 to get back to me. It looks really clean from the pics and already has a high flow. I'm gonna go look at it without an inspection first, and if it's as clean as it looks from the pics then I will get the inspection done. I've learned that pics can be very deceiving. If the car is clean, I'll get it looked at and pick it up if all goes well. I already have planned what I wanna do to it! lol
  6. Same here, but I could see how someone would prefer an Auto if they were driving in traffic a lot. Thankfully I don't have that problem. To OP, if you don't want another Skyline, I vote S14 or S15. They look sexy and still go.
  7. I'm learning slowly, slowly. And it's not that I can't find one here, but I just don't see one with enough mods. There is one literally 3 minutes from my house, but it's stock (maybe it has an exhaust and that's it) and he wants 13 for it. I've found a cheap R34 in Roxy though that I wanna have a look at, I'm just waiting on the owner to message me back. There is one more I wanna go east and have a look at though. White R33 Nothing that should be too expensive roadworthy wise. No BOV, stock airbox with FMIC. The only thing is whether or not the exhaust passes. And has engineers certificate. HOPEFULLY that one is the goods. Also awaiting reply from this guy. Yeah Dad just suggested this to me about 30 minutes ago. I've just been too impatient and want to get an inspection over and done with so I can buy the thing already. Wasn't expecting to find cars with this many problems. I can't wait for daylight savings to start so I can look at cars on weekends after I finish work, will make life much easier.
  8. I have a mechanic in Airport West that I can take the car to that doesn't charge much because he's a friend of my uncle, but I just need to find cars in this area so I can take them down. I need to stop looking at cars in the eastern suburbs lol. As for friends who know about cars, I have none. So I'll just try and look for cars in the western suburbs and be a bit more patient, rather than try and have my car by next week. Cheers guys.
  9. Thanks mate. I've looked at all of them before (bar the 34), and the Anniversary edition caught my eye the most. Don't know how I missed that 34 though, I was searching Skylines from 96-98. I'll probably give them a try. But if another $290 goes down the train because I cop another dud Skyline I think I'll cry. If I get these two checked out and StateRoads give less than favourable reports (will post reports), can I import with the blessing of the forum? lol Because by that stage my stateroad reports will have covered a brokers fee for importing! Edit: Also, excuse my ignornace. But is a high flow turbo an aftermarket turbo? Is it a specific brand, or just a broad term?
  10. That's time that I don't have at the moment. Like I said, Tuesday is my only day off and is when I do the bulk of my homework. Driving down to Frankston and back to look at this car took up half my day as it was and I'm still doing hw now. Every other day I have work, uni or both. Don't have time to be going interstate to pick up a car and drive it home. In November I will, but in the mean time I don't see the harm in looking at importing. If I find something, I find something. If I don't, I don't. Why is everyone on this forum so anti-importing R33s? Don't give me this "buyers market" bullshit. From the two 33s I've seen, there is a reason they are all going for 10-12k. And they aren't as common as people make them out to be. At least not in my area anyway. Thank you for your input.
  11. 15k is my max. Obviously hoping for less. Yes your car is beautiful and I would definitely come down to have a look if you were in Melbourne. Or at least in Victoria. I don't have the time to be travelling interstate atm with Uni twice a week and Work 5 days a week. Tuesdays are my only day off! But if you still haven't sold by summer and if I'm still looking I will definitely fly up and have a look. I'm gonna head over to SA and see ducati02's R33 aswell if I still haven't got a car by then too.
  12. I've already found two with all the mods that I want, but they were both duds. I can't afford to be looking at car after car and spending money on mechanics every week.
  13. But you just get the mods removed, get it complied and then get them put back on. Similar to a roadworthy. Correct?
  14. I'm officially looking at importing. I can't afford to be spending $290 on a SateRoads inspection every time I wanna seriously look at a 33 on Carsales. This thing failed a compression test (cylinder 4 was stuffed), oil leaks, rust and water leaks in the boot, bottom of the exhaust was damaged, breather pipes damaged, turbo bolts were damaged, damaged front bar, AC wasn't hooked up correctly after FMIC was installed, dodgy paintwork, interior was a pigsty... I could go on. I'm spewing I chose to look at this car before adis's white R33 that he posted up on here, but I really wanted a black one. Ahhhh well. I will continue to look at cars in the for sale section here, because I think you guys probably look after your Skylines more than the average Joe. But if the Chef finds me something before I find something on here, I will be importing.
  15. Ok cool. I'll give you a buzz later in the week. But how many ks has it done? And which Bosch fuel pump is it? Cheers mate.
  16. Yeah I'm starting to notice a few nice looking GTSTs for 10, and others for much higher that offer nothing extra, sometimes less! Some people will just always be unrealistic about what their cars are actually worth I guess. The trick is getting one of these things roadworthied! If anyone knows a good place to get R33s roadworthied in Melbourne please PM me. Cheers.
  17. $10,300 with RWC? I might be interested if that's the case. Bosch 044 pump? How many Ks has it done?
  18. Sweet thanks. So wreckers for the stock air box then? eBay didn't seem to have one. I just hope the engine passes the compression test on Tuesday! I'm getting excited now!
  19. Cool thanks. What if he doesn't have the stock air box? And how much am I looking at spending to get the the BOV and Pod removed, then put back in again? And how much is it to get a speedo fixed? Hopefully he changes his mind on doing the RWC, I haven't even been to look at the car yet and this is already annoying! Cheers.
  20. Need some Roadworthy help guys. http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/privat...id=12918C227C36 WTB this R33. Just spoke to the guy and when he took it to enquire about a roadworthy he claimed that they said everything was all good except the speedo and the fact that it was modded. Does the car have to be returned to stock before being eligible for a roady? If not, what out of those mods would be causing the problem? Is there anywhere I could take it in Melbourne where they may look the other way? Also will a State Roads inspection tell me anything else that is not roadworthy? PM me. Cheers. P.S. If I buy the car, can I get a cover note and drive it back to my area to get it roadworthied in the western suburbs? Then I can turn in the transfer papers with the roadworthy at a local Vic Roads at a later date?
  21. Yeah but the majority of them are relatively stock. More than half the 33s under 15k on Carsales in Vic make very little or no mention of mods. And if I'm gonna have to spend money and more importantly time to go interstate to look at cars, I'd rather just import. There's one I like in Vic for 10k, but if I go have a look and it's no good (I already know the speedo doesn't work) then there isn't much else out there that interests me. I'm just inquiring about importing... that's all.
  22. I considered that. But that is parts alone correct? I wouldn't know the first thing about installing them, and labour is the biggest cost is it not? Please correct me if I'm wrong. And you're right, we did talk about this in my other thread, but I was just curious as to how much importing one was with everything already done. Although there are ones for 200rwkw in the 10-12k mark here, I was just curious to see if maybe I could get one with a bit more power for a similar price. Or maybe a 300rwkw monster for 15k landed. I have no idea, that's why I'm asking.
  23. Just wondering if this can be done. Figured it's easier to ask here rather than email each import broker separately. Want to import a S2 Manual R33 for 15k landed, complied and hopefully registered. Possibly tyres included in the 15k too if doable. However, the car must have the following: At LEAST 200rwkw Obviously not many cars come with dyno sheets, but if you could give me a rough guesstimate of what it might be running with whatever mods the car has. Electronic Boost Controller Turbo Timer FMIC 3" or bigger exhaust Keyless Entry Am I asking too much? Cheers.
