  1. Hey mate, how did you go with this? I was asking the same question and got flamed because there is soooo many posts on here about it, problem is people don't seem to be able to agree; haven't seen anyone putting in over 5L, specs say 4.9 including the filter. I have the same set up as you and mine only took 3.2L, which is part of the reason I'm getting flamed, but this is well over the high mark on my dip stick- what I would like to know is "how long is your RB26 dip stick"; I need to sort this out. My pressure is between 2-5, but nobody could tell me the normal range- unless you got an AM oil gauge they're a bit snobby.
  2. Hi, looking for a genuine RB26 dip stick- for '95' R33 GTR
  3. Just took it for a spin and oil pressure was still 2kg/cm3 at idle, but only got as high as 4kg/cm3 on boost- is this a normal range; oil temp was over 70
  4. Just checked it again 3 times! still on High H -surely someone has had a similar experience; is it something to do with the relocation kit?
  5. Hi Gang, I just changed my oil again (RB26DETT) and it only took 3 litres- I had said earlier in this post it took 4L because I'd poured all the bottle in but 1L, but I just realiseed it was a 4L bottle (Royal Purple); Anyway, it seems like a very small amount but looks fine on the dip stick, and did previously. Question is, can this be possible, is there a sump kit the previous owner may had installed with a smaller capacity- anyone else take the same amount? I just drove to work 35km, oil pressure was at 2 (stock guage) at idle and got a little over 6 on boost; let the car sit for 20mins, and oil level was still well over the cross hatching on the dip stick- reaches the H - so should I leave it or put more in as some have suggested in this thread? I know the specs say 4.5L oil pan and .4L for filter, but the car is quite modified and has an oil filter relocation kit.<br>

  7. Hi people, Was just reading some info on redline products and saw some interesting claims about their fuel system cleaner- increased power, increased fuel economy 12% and better......etc.....has anyone had a good experience with this product? I did search first, but couldn't find any threads on this. Cheers,
  8. Hi folks, I need a new set of tyres for my GTR and I was wondering, with the strength of our dollar at the moment, if anyone was getting good deals buying tryres online; if not what's the best way to get my hands on a decent set of tyres. I did read the 'rate tryes you used thread' but haven't time to trawl through the 53 pages again to find the links I saw. It is just for street use, but I have to commute down a mountain range so I want something that likes corners. I was quoted $275/tyre for Proxes 4s and $400/tyre for Dunlop SP sportmaxx GTs- so was wondering if there was a better way than going through a local dealer. Any info about freight costs etc would be appreciated. Cheers,
  9. I'm surprised to hear so much variation here. My R33 GTR took 4 litres, mabe a bit over, but nowhere near 5L. Do they all have different sumps? Is there a benefit to overfilling it some? I'm using Royal Purple 10W40 Sorry about the multiple posts, I kept getting an error message.

  12. Thanks guys, yeah it's pretty embarrasing, went off at an intersection while I was waiting for people to cross, girlfriend finds it quite funny though. I have disconnected the horn now- it was a pretty loose male/female connection- but there was more than one wire connected with the same piece, so now my air bag light is staying on, plus I can't honk at the many annoying drivers! I'll check for obvious wear, then try and replace the wiring I guess. Hopefully I don't start honking any cop cars Thanks for the replies.
  13. Hi Folks, I had a loud rattle (sounded like two solid pieces of steel just touching while vibrating) from my steering column, so I removed the plastic cover to have a closer look, drove around a bit, it seems to have gone away and only happens now and then since. However, my horn now goes off at low speeds- like when I turn into a parking space. It does a series of short beeps, not quite full volume. I checked to see if there was a loose wire but couldn't see any. Anyone had this trouble, or know where I should be looking? Cheers,

  16. Yeah, the motor works fine, but I guess it is all one unit- picture attached
  17. Hi Folks, I need to find a power window regulator for the driver side door of my R33 GTR. Aparently this assembly includes the motor and guides. Please help, I'm getting very sick of not being able to roll my window down! Thanks. Also, does it need to be from a GTR or will any regulator off an R33 do?
  18. Yeah, from Kuranda, haven't been driving lately because I had a shoulder reconstruction, my coilovers are going to shake the sh#t out of my shoulder when I'm allowed to drive; as djr81 mentioned my spring rates are a bit over the top. I had to have my R33 raised a bit to cope with the curbs, couldn't even get into many servos! now it can be a bit bouncy in corners with bumps, haven't noticed any problems on braking though. I just can't bring myself to replace a working product, I've gotten used to them now.
  19. Thanks for that. Bought it on the Gold Coast, seems the guy was building it up to be a bit of a monster, ridiculous clutch too (1300 kg brass button), not sure what he was planning on doing with it, but he wanted 500+hp, go it on 400hp now because he didn't do internals.
  20. Hi, I'm up in Cairns also and the roads can be really rough. I've got D2 racing suspension on my R33 GTR, had Fulcrum try and soften them up, they said the front springs were under 800lb, what kg/mm ratio is that likely to be- I think they said Tein super streets are around 250lb- I know they're hard that's for sure. If I try and soften them much more I think I'll bounce off a bad corner- I drive up and down a mountain range each day, only way I can justify having such hard springs still
  21. Thanks for the replies guys. Is this especially the case for dry cell batteries? - going flat even when disconnected- I don't recall any of my other batteries going dead so fast. I think I'll try and claim it on warranty- this sort of info would have been helpful when I bought the damn thing!
  22. Thanks for that. It is my daily driver so it usually wouldn't be a problem. Did yours go flat in as short a time? what was the life of the discharged batteries after recharged?
  23. Hi, I let my car sit for a month while I had a shoulder reconstruction (old man was supposed to take it for a drive but didn't) now my few month old dry cell battery is completely flat- car only just manages to beep. It is a special Mazda MX5 battery because needed to fit in boot $400! - Is it likely that the immobilizer system would have drained it in that time, or is it a sign of some other problem? -What's the chances I can recharge this with standard charger, and any likely issues? Any feedback would be appreciated. Cheers,
  24. Thanks for the feedback guys; hadn't logged on since I posted sorry. Sounds like I should just take it a bit easy on the 4th to 5th- it's not like it doesn't go fast enough in 4th. I'll try and get my hands on some of this high quality gear oil in the mean time. Are you saying that even with the right oil and a lack of abuse it may still crunch a little if changed too fast, in which case there may be nothing wrong?
  25. Hi there, bought an R33 GTR a while back but never checked gear changes at high speed. There is a crunch when changing from 4th to 5th above around 130kmh, especially under load. Apparently this is a common problem to check with these cars What I'm wondering is- what does this mean for the health of the gearbox? Otherwise it seems fine.
