  1. Anyone else have any suggestions or experience on this ? Don't want to start the job until i'm 100% sure what to do . Cheers
  2. Hey Guys Just bought a new Carbon fibre cam gear cover for my R33 . Is there any tricks on removing & replacing the factory item with a Carbon one ? Any tips on what to watch out for would be much appreciated Tried searching the topic but couldn't find much info on it
  3. Have had a good look around for tyres & come across Nitto NT05 tyre. Very similar to the Kuhmo Ku36 , but preforms better in the wet . Seems pretty good value for money , so going to give it a go !
  4. The other factor which comes into play is the rotor thickness. Current rotors are 25mm thick & the upgraded ones are 32mm. So there will be 7mm more , which i think will make the new rotor hit the rim once fitted. The wheel currently has a 10mm spacer on it , to keep it from hitting the caliper. Thinking of buying a 25mm spacer just in case , so the job doesn't go to a halt if things don't work out .
  5. I had a funny feeling that would be my only two options , replacing rims is an expensive task & think Mrs would crack it big time Lol ! Can u buy wheel spacers at certain thicknesses or do u have to get them made up by an engineering place ?Just answered my own question they have them on Just Jap
  6. Just got my Attkd 8 piston front upgrade kit today & the only thing i think i may have a problem with , is the new caliper hitting the inside of my front rims. At the moment with the standard 4 spots on , there is only 3 to 4 mm gap from outside of caliper to inside of rim. The rims already have a spacer on them so they don't hit the calipers. With the new 356mm x 32mm rotor , that would mean the new caliper would sit out further then the current one which is on the car , causing this problem. Did ur caliper sit out further then ur standard one or did they sit exactly in the same place ? How could i rectify this problem if it happens ? I will know on the weekend when i start doing the job if it is ok or not ! Any advice would be much appreciated
  7. What year did the R33's come out with the ABS or what model ? Mines is a series 1 , 1994 model were they fitted with ABS ?
  8. Couldn't give u an exact figure , as i had other work done at the same time. Had right side guard & front bumper fixed with full front end re-spray / blending . All up for me it was $3000 , including getting the NACA air duct fitted. I reckon it wouldn't be more then $1000 as the whole bonnet would have to be resprayed & blending into both front guards. That would only be if u wanted the air duct to be colour coded with rest of car. Best to talk to your local paint shop for exact quote .
  9. To be honest u can't see a great deal from under the bonnet & a picture wouldn't be worth taking . As Terry said it sits nicely between the bonnet & heat shield guarding . All the panel beater did was slightly cut away bit of heat shield to have a clear area for the air to flow through. But here are some more pics i took yesterday , i'll take more once weather fines up & can get the car out of garage .
  10. Yeah the panel beater used stickaflex to glue it to the inside of the bonnet , between fibreglass & metal . Was a bit tricky working where to fit near the turbo area due to frame work of bonnet , but decided to put it into a triangle area between the framework . Fitted in nicely there & is placed just behind the turbo , where the dump pipe is. When driving can here a slight wind sound near that area , so i'm assuming plenty of cool air is getting into where i wanted it to go. Thanks for ur help
  11. Also the fittings to the surge tank can leak a fuel smell. I had the same problem , all the fuel lines which went onto the surge tank just had hose clamps around them , which leaked the fuel smell. What we did to fix the problem was custom made another surge tank with speedflow fittings on the end which connect the fuel lines. Now no fuel smell what so ever . I have attached before & after pics on how we changed the setup & fixed the fuel smell.
  12. Looking forward to reading it mate I'll put some pics up once all is installed on my car. Should get parts next week off Just Jap .
  13. Hey Mate , here are the pics of my R33 , which is now fitted the 3 inch NACA Air Duct . Fitted really well & i think looks great on the car . Blends nicely in with the bonnet & keeps everything still looking very standard . Hope these help
  14. Nice upgrade mate , did u buy it as a whole brake upgrade kit ? Are they 6 or 8 spot calipers & what size rotors ? Also was it much effort to do urself , as i'm thinking of taking mine to a local mechanic for a bit of help. Haven't had much to do with brakes before so thinking of letting someone with a bit more knowledge do the major work & i'll give him a hand !!
  15. I heard the Kumho's KU36 weren't real good in wet weather & more of a track tyre. I was thinking of getting the Kumho KU31 or the Falken FK452 tyres as i mostly use it on the street .
  16. Thanks for the info on the tyres . I'll look into the tyres which are S compound & that should point me in the right direction. I just want a tyre which has plenty of grip & makes the car feel nice / stable under hard breaking. Don't really care if they wear a bit quicker due to being a softer tyre , cause my skyline is only a weekender & doesn't rack up a huge amount of K's !!!
  17. Next thing i'll be looking at is better tyres , any one have any suggestions on a good road tyre for 19 x 8 rims ? I am currently wearing Achilles ATR Sport tyres which i find good & handle the mountain roads fairly well. But once the brake upgrade is fiited could be quite a different story !
  18. Just bought ATTKD 8 piston front brake kit with 356mm rotors off Just Jap. Black & silver calipers are a bit better looking then the bright Orange K sport ones ! Also bought 297mm DBA , T slot rotors for rear with Project Mu B spec pads. Set of braided lines & Cusco Brake cylinder stopper. Last of all Motul RBF 600 brake fluid. Can't wait for all to be fitted , should make a hell of a difference in the braking department
  19. My rims are 19 x 8 . Also have u guys done any upgrading to the rear brakes aswell , if not will the front end have to much braking power & upset things in the overall braking department ?
  20. Is this kit a bolt on application or will i have to mod things to make them fit ? Also do they have a website i can have a look at ? Cheers
  21. Hey Guys Going to upgrade my R33 GTS-T in the braking department from standard rotors , brake lines & brake fluid. Just finding the brakes aren't quite doing the job for a car which has 400rwhp ! It's used for street use & hard driving in mountains , with the intention of some light track use in the future , once brakes have a bit more bite in them. These are my two options i am looking at , keeping in mind i want to keep the standard calipers for both front & rear . Option 1 - Project Mu B Spec pads front & rear UAS Master cylinder stopper Goodridge braided line kit front & rear DBA 4000 series rotors front & rear - Swap over from factory size Motul RBF 600 brake fluid Option 2 - Project Mu B Spec pads front & rear UAS Master cylinder stopper Goodridge braided line kit front & rear Motul RBF 600 brake fluid DBA 4000 series rotors rear UAS Alloy adaptors upgrading to 324mm front UAS two peice curved vane rotors Will i notice much difference between the two upgrades going from the 297mm rotors to the 324mm in the front. In words is it worth the extra $1200 !! Josh
  22. Hey Mate , any news on that drivers side inner guard linner , did u source it off your mate ? Cheers josh
  23. Will do , i'll put up pics over the Easter break . The car will be finished by then , go's into panel shop next week
  24. Ok then i'll face mine forwards also , i'll be getting the panel beater to fit the duct then a full respray of the bonnet including the duct so it all blends in nicely ! Like ur Black GTR u used to have , that job looks great . Hope mine turns out that well ! Ken said to use a Sikaflex adhesive to fit to the inside of the bonnet .
  25. I just ordered a 3 inch Fiberglass Air duct off Ken Lowe . It cost me $54.00 + postage. Which way would it be best to face the Air duct ? Forward like u have yours facing letting the cool air onto the turbo or backwards which would be letting the hot air escape from the turbo ?
