  1. G'day,

Just a niggle I've had with my stag for sometime now. Maybe one out of every 10 or so low power (not on boost) accelerations, if i ease the throttle relatively quickly, I get a relatively quiet chirp kinda sound. Kind of like a turbo flutter sound, but just one 'chirp'.

Anyone have any ideas what may be causing that and a possible fix?

Will try and get an audio clip, but like I said its relatively infrequent and hard to hear.

On another note, finally ordered a FMIC.... only took a year and a half

    Cheers

  2. bit of a dig, but didn't want to start a new thread.

Does anyone know if you can get the HDI FMIC with black rubber bends as opposed to blue? I'm sure some heat proof paint would do the trick, but i don't have the time and am lazy :P (at least when it comes to cars atm)

    Cheers

  3. A cruise I've always wanted to do, but never done is head down the hume to around suttons forrest way.

Take the illawarra highway or something like that out to the coast (nice and twisty down the plateau there) then follow through wollongong and national park road back up into sydney.

But of course you're not allowed to do that route until i'm back on the east coast ;)

  4. Don't you know, the key to weight saving in a stagea is to do a big dump before driving... :domokun:

But seriously, like others have said, i don't think you have a whole lot to gain unless you completely want to destroy the nicety of a stagea. Always drive around with under a 1/4 tank, saves you 45-50kgs in fuel. I notice a difference in acceleration between a near empty tank and full tank.

  5. There are no DIY's. But its a fairly simple process.

You take out the headlight and remove all the globes etc. Then heat up the sealing rubber with a heat gun. Once hot, you can remove the front clear section and then you paint the inside section. Once painted you can re-heat the rubber and press the light back together. You have to make sure its sealed properly or you will have issues with water finding its way back into the light.

Its not too hard, but you really don't want to make a mistake. A single new light from nissan is about $2800.00. I found out the hard way!

    Hope this helps!

  6. Motivational build thread Chris!

Really like the look of the Hiro's wish i was in a position to buy them when you sold them. Can you recall the size of them, tyres and did u run spacers?

Still wanting to black my headlights out too (thanks for that little guide you gave me like a year ago... still hasn't been put to use)

    Cheers

  7. After a bit of an epic getting it on, finally have scotty's dump fitted, boost picks up nice and early and pulls much better in the mid range.

Cheers for helping the mechanic's out too Scott!

Ps at what point should one look into, or should I say require some electronic wizardry... emanage, tuning boost control... that sort of thing?

  8. mine sounded very similar to the normal sound you posted for ages as well. When my turbo went it didn't quite sound like the latter clip, but it was similar. It didn't even sound as bad but when it was pulled out and apart sure enough the turbo was rooted Based on the similarity i'd be inclined to say yours has gone mate.

I'd hold tight for someone with a more mechanical back ground than myself though ;)
