  1. Yeah I'll check them out. The article I read may have even been from there. Not sure though. I remember one thing the article said though, the reason they liked the Trust was because it was a dry filter, which meant it wouldn't foul the AFM with oil like many of the other ones can do.
  2. I'll have a look for you. No promises though. It was a pretty good article actually. Otherwise I wouldn't have bought the pod on their recommendation. I reckon that since it's as loud as it is, it has to have good airflow (ie good performance) but the filtration would be down. The article didn't agree with that though, as it said it had good filtration. I also think that it would be good if there was only one company that evaluated all the performance parts.
  3. Very nice site. If I do any decent mods I might give you a bit of a writeup.
  4. Thanks for the responses guys. Boostmeister: The whole reason I bought it was based on a magazine comparison. It had equal best filtration and the best performance. I'll have to find the mag it was in. Now, about the BOV not working efficiently enough, I've got the stock one. I thought that was good for a fair bit above the stock power. I don't think I'm too much above stock power levels, in fact I'm still running 7 psi boost. I used to have a Blitz atmo one in series with the stock BOV, but that went when I put the FMIC on. So do you think my stocker is faulty? I'll replace it anyway as I miss my BOV noise
  5. ex-static: Is your pod extra loud though? Mine is seriously like a vacuum cleaner. hype: I'll give it a go this weekend. I'm going to use Jay's instructions.
  6. I just installed a Trust Airinx on the weekend, and right now I'm considering taking it off. Does anyone else have one? It has to be the loudest piece of **** I've put in my car. Are they supposed to sound like an extra loud vacuum cleaner on intake and a horse when you let go of the throttle? I expected a little bit of extra noise, but this is ridiculous. I was going to record a sample of it and put the MP3 of it up, but I just thought I'd check first. Maybe I've screwed up the installation. I'm going to make an insulated box to go around it quiten it a bit (and hopefully only let in cold air). Will this make much of a difference? As an aside, anyone who reckons a pod filter is a good substitute for the BOV noise is kidding themselves. It sounds terrible, nothing like the clean tccchhh sound of a BOV. Cheers, Michael
  7. BTW, I haven't studied it too carefully yet (no time at the moment), but where is your cold air feed. You aren't using the old intercooler pipe as you've got a stock one, right? When I make this up, I'll use the old pipe as the cold air pipe, but I'm just curious how yours is set up. Cheers, Michael
  8. Thanks Jay, I was about to hack up something really dodgy this weekend. Now I don't have to. Cheers, Mic
  9. Maybe, but it wouldn't take long to buffer a whole MP3, so it would have to be really bad luck for it to buffer the wrong section of the disc because of a bump. Besides, it will only go to the buffer in the situation where you go over a bump and it can't read for that split second, otherwise it would go straight from the CD. If you go over bumps when it is reading into the buffer and then go over more bumps at exactly the same moment in the song when you're playing it back, you most likely are driving off road and should be worried about your bodykit, not whether your song is skipping or not Basically, I don't think skipping would be much of an issue with MP3s.
  10. I'd say skipping wouldn't be much of a problem as the drives would most likely buffer most of the whole song into some sort of flash memory. If it doesn't, then it's a bad design.
  11. You've lost me there. What's the difference?
  12. Sounds good, but it's a little out of my price league. I also like being able to burn CDs and then put them in the car. This would also mean I couldn't play audio CDs either.
  13. Well since this Voxson isn't out yet, it looks like I'm getting the low end JVC. I like the high end one more, but it is just too pricy for me.
  14. I know I might sound a little stupid, but where are the details for this? You said on the event page, but I can only find one post about it, but it hasn't got any details.
  15. Oz, I'll pay by Visa tomorrow too. Cheers, Mic
  16. I've got them too. I also had them sitting in my room for about 3 months. I have to say though, as good as they are, the novelty does wear off after a bit. I still love the look so I'm not saying don't buy them or anything. BTW nice install job Grim. I took the expensive and easy option and had them installed EDIT: I forgot to ask my question. Grim, when you said you had to cut the hole for the boost gauge, do you mean you cut through the clear section or your one was solid all the way across and you cut through the glowy stuff? I left the clear section in, which makes the stock boost gauge all blurry. I wanted to cut it out, but I thought I'd wreck something if I did.
  17. Well I'm definitely in. I've got the money for it set aside already. I'll try and find some other ppl to do it with, as I'm sure one of my friends will want to do it.
  18. Mine looks like a Screamer, but goes like a stocker. I've got a front mount on it now with a cat back exhaust, but that will change soon. I've got a SAFC sitting in my room, Trust Airinx in the mail and dump pipe being HPC coated at the moment. Actually, even after that it will still probably not go too hard. All I want is 180rwkw, so I've got a bit more to do I think.
  19. Why on Earth would you want to get rid of your current series 1? It's got heaps of power and looks absolutely awesome. The only benefit of the S2 would really be that it is younger.
  20. What's the price on that though. Alpine would be expensive, wouldn't they?
  21. Thanks for the tip. I was a little worried about it not being able to play VBR MP3s, as that's the way I encode all mine. Maybe I should just get the AIWA. When they release it, though, I'll check out all the specs and make sure it can do all formats.
  22. Yeah, I'll be picking one up when they come out, so we'll see then how good it is. Hopefully it isn't just them jumping on the bandwagon.
  23. Yeah keep the different rears on - it looks great.
  24. OK, I've got one friend who wants to do it. One who hasn't got the money to do it, and one who I can't get in contact with tonight. Do we have to use our own cars? - my friend who wants to do it doesn't want to use his own car for some reason.
  25. I've never even heard of them. I suppose I'll be a guinea pig and try it out. I'll tell everyone here what it's like so they can either get one or be warned about it. What was the model of the Kenwood you were looking at? I'd like to compare features when this one does come out.
