  1. Another Pulsar/Stagea owner here.. I currently own a GTI-R, but selling to get a Stagea, which I should have in a few weeks
  2. Nope it wasn't a wagon, just a Silhouette Sedan. Had the RB20 NICS version with a HT18 turbo from a S4 RX7 It went very hard and was so much fun to drive. Everyone bags the old NICS engine, but I can't fault it. THe guy I bought the car off flogged the guts out of it, then I did much the same for a few years and then once I sold the car the engine eventually ended up in a Bluebird wagon drag/burnout car and since then has been put into something else!! Still going strong!
  3. Haha yeah, long time member, short time poster. I had a RB20DET powered Aus-spec R31 about 4 years ago (hence the nickname). Since then I bought a GTI-R, but am now purchasing a Stagea...so I have returned (and the nickname still seems suitable)
  4. Spotted a silver S2 yesterday crusing along Old Cleveland Road near Carindale. Turned into Camp Hill somewhere. I was in my grey GTI-R. I cruised along next to you and then you took the left lane. Very nice looking car. I'm keen for a Stagea meet up in Brisbane. I should have mine within a few weeks
  5. I just got a quote from JCI for $1021 for the 260 RS I'm about to purchase. I'm over 25. but my wife is 23. It covers her, so I'm pretty happy with that. I'm with Famous Insurance for my GTI-R, but they said they won't cover the Stagea because the risk is too big! WTF? They cover Skylines, Supras, etc, but not an AWD wagon...weird. I also tried another one (Vigil I think) who wouldn't cover my wife.
  6. Cool. Thanks guys. Lets hope it's just the gauge. I'll test it again with a mate's gauge once I get the car.
  7. Hey guys, I'm in the process of buying an Autech Stagea 260RS. I got a mechanic to do a compression test last week and the results came up as: 174 178 178 182 182 179 If I'm not mistaken, the quoted maximum for an RB26DETT is 171psi and normal is around 160psi. I was there when the mechanic did the test and he used a good quality Blue Point digital compression tester. The test was done when the engine was hot and throttle was closed. The mechanic didn't tell me to open the throttle. I later read that it should be open. Anyway, I'm not overly concerned since the readings are all fairly close to one another. I was just wondering if someone could explain the high readings? Perhaps the gauge was a bit out? Would the hot engine make a difference? The engine looks dead stock (except for exhaust) and is running standard boost. From the exhaust it sounds like it has a slight miss or pop at idle, but it holds a good steady idle. I'm not sure if this is normal for an RB26. Perhaps it's the aftermarket exhaust that gives it this sound or perhaps it's in need of a service and timing adjustment (has just come off the boat). It revs cleanly to 7000rpm. Cheers, Simon
  8. Hi there, I'm looking at buying an Autech Stagea 260RS. I'd like to get it inspected by a workshop who knows GTRs inside out and knows what to look for. Any recommendations would be appreciated. The car is in Brisbane. Thanks very much. Simon
  9. Just out of interest, has anyone had geabox problems in a RS260? Considering there's an extra 200kg over the GTR. Does anyone know if the gearbox is the same as a series III R33? Apparently, that gearbox is tougher than its predecessors.
  10. I've been looking into these cars for the past few days. The more I look into them, the more I like
  11. I'm from Brisbane (Coorparoo). I'll update my profile
  12. Hmmm, interesting thread. My wife and I have been thinking about a replacement for our GTI-R. I would like a GTR and my wife would like a R34 4-door, so the Stagea RS260 seems like a good compromise. I've been trawling the internet a bit and hoping to find a review on how these things drive. Has anyone got any information? I'd really like a GTR, but the car will be a daily driver for my wife. I think something like this is less likely to stand out in a carpark than a GTR. Simon
  13. Very nice car for $28K. You might wanna fix the pics on the first page. They don't show up for me for some reason.
  14. That's an awesome price for something with these sorts of mods. Good luck with the sale mate. I'm sure it'll get snapped up soon. I hope there's something like this around next year when I get around to upgrading my GTI-R
