  1. Having busted one (6M) within weeks of purchase....and now having a new one...I know this....they are heavy bloody things, even when on a trolley! lol!

They are noisy/rattly bloody things too!...but they're strong, and should handle nominal power upgrades.....my mechanic agrees.

    As for that diff?.....pffffft...who knows?

Hardly 'tech' words,..but hey, who gives a faaark!

  2. in the last 3 months....I've had 'fixed'....

    Gearbox rebuild...$4000

    Driver's door lock actuator $400

Fuel Flap/door motor $N/A (fixed myself from spares)

    Battery $100

    Passenger Power window motor $400

Clutch and Fly wheel (no, not part of the gear-box!) $1500

    Brembo brake pads/rotors renewed $400

mmmmmm.......good farking thing I didn't have to pay for it!

Extended warranty really is a good thing.

Battery came out of my own pocket....fair enough.

  3. nah just fixing it

i would of loved to have spent that $2k on mods...fingers crossed i won't have any more problems

and while we're on the subject...

  4. Guys...unless you really feel the need, or they are literally looking horrible, then leave the things on.....they leave such a mess and the reality of losing your (partial) paint is very real......coz, I made the mistake!!..lol!.

I reckon the guys with the white cars will prolly have nothing to lose!...they do look shittier on that colour.

  5. this is the problem, in his workshop(BIG) there was 1 porsche cayman, 1 bmw sport on hoist (i don know wat model, but it's black coupe and super shiny with sexy rims on), 1 S15, 1 evo9... all sexy and stuff... and ... then my lauzy v35 sitting there stock, waiting to be fixed... (tail lights not working)

(also, before i left, another mech walked to him, telling him-the boss, tat *name*'s merc slk will come later tat day..)

the equipments, doesnt look cheap at all, all clean and shiny, never i have seen a workshop that clean.. and mayb that's the reason he charged top price for top job..? *possible

put yourself in my place, when u see this kind of situation, u gotta believe he CAN DO some pretty good job, rite?

Danny...I couldn't care if the man had diamonte incrusted Lambo's.....if he's got an attitiude that is incompatible to your needs and feelings then don't deal.

There are plenty of great workshops out there, with great staff who WANT/Need your cash!......and they'll look after you buddy!

    Hey, but that's juzme!

  6. superspit, where and how much for respray? i am looking for one too.. cost $300, seems like good price to me..

Hi Dan and 007...thanks for your interest!!...

I'm still wrapped with the job..like I said earlier, these bumpers take up alot of 'real-estate', so a good looking set of BB's is pretty much a must in my book....(oh that, and nice full tint!)

UltraFine Bodyworks in Moorabbin, Melbourne..(Nick)...he's always done my imports, never an issue.....$600 + $60GSTurds....being for both bar-units removed from the vehicle and refinished ..(full removal is a must with these cars, else paint lines and other mismatches will be yours to rue....!!)

Thanks again for allowing my input......Got your Rudd cheque yet boys?....already spent it maybe.....?

I'll get me one of them Kevin37 LCD TV's......now that's High definition stimulus!

  7. Benny

I've had this problem twice from 2 different reasons.

    1. Not sure what the exact problem was, but I assumed that the key fob was cold. I noticed that if i warmed it up by rubbing it a bit (for about a minute) then it will start working again. This might have been from a weak remote battery because after i changed it, it never happened again (or maybe because its hotter weather now  ).

    2. I had a dodgy stereo installed where the DVD-ROM Sat Nav used to be. It was a cheap chinese deck that malfuntioned and stayed on even when i turned the ignition off. I swapped it over to a JVC one and it started working again. I can only assume that this was due to the deck draining the car's battery. Maybe change the car's battery if you have so recently or check if anything is draining the battery while the car is off.

    Hope this helps.

    Point 1 is a no-brainer......def rem batt.

Point 2 is excellent, and from my experience, should be wholly considered!...(if any sort of power draw with keys out is present....cheap decks/aftermarket/bad wiring are potentially to blame)....a multimeter/current/amp meter placed in series to batt output is the simplest way to find out.!!...oh, and I found out!!

  8. mmmm......how confusing it all can be.....

I'll stick with Helix Ultra, but that's just based on me never having a problem with an engine in the 8-9 years of using it.

But, have you guys ever used one of those MAGNETIC SUMP PLUGS?....I had them on my Silvia's and 33's over the years.....going to find one for the V35.

Admittedly, I never saw anything metallic 'hanging' off the sump plug on my oil changes, not in the macroscopic sense anyway...(and that's a good thing I reckon!)

Like I said, I've never had an engine issue (yep, heaps of other issues..lol)...my motor's have always appeared healthy and smoke free, and I drive them pretty hard.

I guess when you're on a good thing, stick to it?...(I'm a little worried when it comes to lubrication experimentation!)

  9. Hey Vish, when are you gonna call me, I've been missing you, why do you treat me like this? hahahaha

    Anyway, heres my Skyline:

    post-59969-1237122772_thumb.jpg<br>

Stats are: 2005 V35 Sedan w/ 27K on the clock,

    Starcorp Racing Fusion wheels, 19x8.5 (+38) front & 19x9.5 (+45) rear

King Springs lowered car 1.3" all round

    Mirror tint and xForce muffler

could be my eyes or something...but I reckon if Thomas the Tank Engine was suddenly transposed into that photo, it wouldn't look out of place!

Best 4 door I've seen to date...!

(oh..ps...please tell me the cam lens/settings you used...or was it software...just an incredible effect!)

  10. this was the first item I had installed into my 35.....and it is simply fantastic for the price.

Infact, I got 2 of them, one for my brother's R34....some 3 months ago now.

The telephone, radio, DVD and GPS functions are great....so too the seperate SD card reader/player.

The TV is an absolute joke!...not worried about that too much.

So far..both unit's are fine....but can get glitchy if the GPS unit is not completely turned off prior to ignition off. ie. (keys out)...I've found.

A simple soft re-set gets them going properly again.

Their 'build quality' is akin to something you'd win from a 'shootem-up' gallery at the circus.......So only time will really tell.

so far so good!....best 440 buh I ever spent on car entertainment....(yep, u can get them even cheaper than that).

If it breaks after a year, I'll get another one.

    Just my 3 cents.

  11. +1^

i don't know if your a fan of the Chasers War on Everything show but here is a clip of what i mean, im not taking the piss out of you, but just for a lil entertainment.

    hahaha... great vids, thankyou!

I guess they're are always going to be 2 sorts of people...

those who simply love their cars, and cars in general.

and others that will simply never understand, god bless'm!

  12. I did a search on SAU and the oil filter that came up was a Z445 (3.5 L)

If i remember right thats the same filter used on a SR20

I also did a quick search on google and there seem to be a few different answers with people saying that some filters were crap cus they were made of cardboard etc and other ones were better?

    peoples thoughts?

I'm also going to use synthetic Nulon 5w-30 or 10w-40 depending on what I can get the better price on

well...I won't comment on the first part, other than to say that changing your filter more often is better than buying something that's unnecessarily overpriced.....

....but I will on the second....

Don't skimp on using the wrong oil viscosity based on price!!

Get the correct spec'd oil for your VQ!!!....it really demands it.....
