  1. I was told that if the car gets inspected again, once it has passed the noise test and have been found for excessive noise and has a different exhaust it needs to go for a full ADR compliance which costs 500 bucks. Anyone has had experience in this?

  2. Hi um i dunno if this helps but i had 3 1/2" catback then i gat the epa notice, so i had a good look at what i had under the car and found a Flange plate just under the the rear axel that had the cannon attatched, so i went to an exhaust place and got them to make the back bit out of 2 1/2" with a nice big quite muffler. It cost me 140 but at least they done what i wanted other places wanted me to replace the lot for 350!. Anyway the test showed a nice quiet 80 db.

    I noticed that i had no power, no noise and no fun. so as soon as i passed the test i chucked the cannon back on all better now, and when i get another notice probably next week i already have the solution!

    >_<

    Thanks for the feedback, because i failed the noise test, im getting a standard exhaust fitted for the next test. I really doubt its 98db, but oh well, the exhaust shop says it is, have to believe him i guess.

  3. Have anyone passed an epa noise test with aftermarket exhaust with stock cat and rear silencer? My car is really very quiet now.. But according to the exhaust place, it is still 98db . I know it is very subjective how quiet it is as it really depends on individuals but.. just wondering if anyone have passed it before.

  4. i got my car safc tuned along as the avcr (silver) being setup on 12 psi for the run

    dyno sheet shows a perfect 12 psi horizontal line no spiking. so i have no dramas with spiking

    cheers

    I wonder if the avcr has any advantage when it is being tuned with the safc compared to other ebc's, as i would have thought it complements it. Thanks for the feedback, i guess 12 psi should be okay then

  5. we ill trow in my two cents.

    if you still wont a skyline why not look at a r31 gts-x its a 2 door coupe with rb20det and manual. they average areound the 8k mark and are userly in resenerble condition (plus they raced at bathurest). look on the for sale cars section in r31skylineclub to see if thats what you wont.

    it would be my pic if i wonted a 2dr or i would get another 4 door r31 for 2k and spend 6k on it. as you can userly get one that is man and with a turbo for apx3-4k.

    brentt

    im guessing

    wont = want

    userly = usually

    resernerble = reasonable

    am i right?

  6. the solenoid is only a slave, the unit itself was the issue. i was hoping they did more than just change the case color, but no it is just a limited edition same thing but differrent case.

    I see.. so i guess there were no improvements made.. Is avcr really that bad ? From what i read, for 12psi it holds very well, just that anything above it tends to spike. As im still running stock turbos, i think 12 psi is sufficient . So is it safe to say an avcr for 12psi is good enough?

  7. Hi guys, recently i heard some opinions that the newer versions of the black version avcr has improved solenoids and other stuffs so that the spiking usual is not as often compared to the silver version... but im not sure of its validity.. anyone knows about this? Also, anyone has the black avcr here that are able to tell me if they display other than kgcm2 ?

    Cheers

  8. RB20's are boat anchors.

    If you love a rev happy motor, they are for you.

    I had one, hated it.

    Had an RB25 aswel... hmm... RB26 love soon :rofl:

    What you mean boat anchors ? sluggish ?

    I wonder why they made rb20 more revvy than rb25, anyone knows?

  9. All series II V-Specs are badged 'V-Spec II", because they are series II V-specs, there are no series II V-Specs.

    V-spec II cars have harder suspenssion than series I V-specs, altough the struts look the same ..

    Series II cars come in M-Spec, NUR V-Spec II and NUR M-Spec as well , these were built from May 01 onwards and there are only a handfull here is Australia, I have one of them.

    ohh ok .. i get it now :ninja: . I always thought vspec and vspec2 runs at the same time of production.. Yeap all clear now.. was hard deciding when a totally pristine mint condition vpsecII is 14k dearer than a vspec when the vspec is alot poorer condition . 14k aud is alot in overseas value as the car is being viewed overseas.. haha

  10. ..

    All series II V-specs are V-Spec II , they have same calipers and front rotors but the rear rotors are a little bigger on all series II cars not just V-specs.

    You are not going to notice the difference in the pics , maybe the trim depending on the quality of the pic.

    By the way I can tell the difference in the wheels between series I and series II as well.

    So... would u say the series II vspecs are also vspec II ? are they still bagdged vspec or all post october 2000 only vspecII are produced?

  11. This has been covered before , do a search and you will find something.

    01 V-spec is a V-spec II and there are a few differences to the 99 none V-Spec. tThere are also differences between series I and Series II regardless of the Spec.

    Differences between V-spec and none ( regardles of year):

    Front lower lip on the V's , rear C/F defuser on the V's and MFD with 2 extra functions on V's , ALSD on the cluster on V's. I probably left sometning out but these are the main ones.

    Differences between Series I and series II . Series II have darker seat trim ( almost black) clear front and side indicators, alloy on the rubber pedals, bigger boot Nissan emblem and the V-spec II has C/F bonnet with a small vent above the turbos .

    Again I'm sure I forgot something.

    ohh , i know the differences between vspec and non vspecs. Did a search couldnt find much pictures.. But yea.. i think the distinguishable ones are probably the black trim interior between a 1999 vspec and 2001 vspec as of october 2000 the interior's trim is black instead of grey. Thanks for the info

    I think vspec2 has bigger brakes and faster time reaction on the atessa

  12. Hey guys just wondering if anyone can help me out regarding some importing questions...

    If lets say a car that is meant to be exported out from japan as a 1999 model.... once the car is landed in a foreign country ie Australia, can the import papers by any means list it as 2002 model? Im just abit curious as once it leaves Japan, the importer has more of a control of the import papers ...

    Any ideas

  13. Ok i just had my car cleared through the EPA...

    want a Hint on what to do... Make it stock no pod, keep your cooler and u pass simple :nyaanyaa:

    Cas trust me... If your car has a mod they will ask you to remove it, IF it's a emissions related if u have a 12inch momo non padded center steering wheel they dont care it's not their problem...

    Might save a lot of pointless trips for some.....

    Thanks for sharing the info , definately helps myself and the others im sure

    Cheers
