    Sa Dyno Day

Hey guys, as Roo said he dropped in and saw me today which is the first i heard about the day. Im interested but need to work around other things on the day, so can you tell me what time this will be happening and i can let you know if i can bring the 260 down? Also paying on the day would be easier for me too.
  2. LOL Andrew, that makes me want to get the 260 out and really make him cry! hahahahaha!
  3. That would be Damo being sarcastic...lol. By the looks of it the gear knob didnt fit properly, so whoever put it on decided to wrap tape of some sort around the gear stick before jaming the knob back on. I would still say you will need to try unscrewing it and pulling up hard at the same time to get it off, wouldnt be a bad idea to leave it in the sun for a little while to warm up, might make the glue go sticky and come off easier, oh, and make sure your head is out of the way when you do it, or set a video camera up for when you punch yourself in the face! lol! My 2 cents, hope it helps!
  4. I rekon i'll just stick to my soccer mum car....lmao
  5. Absolutely! My tuner has shown me the effects of loosening straps on back to back dyno runs with differences in the 20rwkw region... and in the above case, enough to not make it show 1000hp. and this was on a car making 200rwkw!
  6. Well that was a load of crap, they obviously couldnt quite get it to read 1000hp so they loosened off the straps. Letting a car ride up on the rollers like that effects the read out massively. Im not saying it doesnt have ALOT of power there, just shits me when cars arent strapped down properly for an accurate reading.
  7. Eeeewww....im telling Tracy...lol
  8. No comment Damo, or it is that you can't type one handed? lmao!
  9. Me thinks Damo is lucky Sam is not a member....haha!
  10. close but no cigar...lol. Its a silver 2 door m-spec! Mum doesnt live near me, but i know the silver one you mean, i dont think they are on sau, ive given the wave a couple times with no response!
  11. I can do one better than that..... my mum owns a 33GTST!
  12. Agreed Damo, would love to see what will happen in this situation, and if it does happen i hope the person it happens to has lots of cash behind them to push it high into the courts and the public view. It would be interesting to see the outcome, but i get the feeling what you would see happen is that the owner would be offered a payout figure of the market value of the vehicle and the courts will see that as fair. But of course they wont take into account any modifications done to the vehicle, as they cant be seen allowing a car to have aftermarket modifications.
  13. I have no problem with obvious shit boxes being defected, to an extent it needs to be done as alot are unsafe, however, it still doesnt change the fact that it will no doubt effect business' in the auto aimed industry. The main problem will be cars of some value being crushed, leaving the owners out of pocket, alot of which couldnt go out the next day and buy another car. I imagine with car crushing, they will impound the car and book it in for a date to be crushed, but i dont think there will be any opportunity for owners to retrieve any items from the car as they wont want people taking off illegal mods and keeping them for the next car. In some instances that could work in our favour because it will mean people will have to buy new stereo's, BUT, thats only IF they have the money too. Im sure you can see the basic point im getting at though. And i would be happy for sapol to concentrate on the commodores and leave imports alone, but you and i both know that wont happen. What i figure is that they will start with the most obvious cars and work through offenders, but as things start to clean up i imagine they will start to look at the less obvious cars.
  14. Yeah thats true, and as much as im not a fan of holdens or there usual fully sick owners, they still buy $3000 stereo's for the $500 beaters cos they like the doof doof. If all of a sudden they cant drive the $500 beaters, then they will be forced to buy a later model beater, which generally wouldnt leave them with the cash left over to do a stereo. So the idea of car crushing will have more implications that just effecting the owner of the car. I was speaking to my mechanic the other day, he is now having to seek legal advice about getting customers to sign stat decs about them requesting modifications that could be deemed illegal because the new laws are trying to put the responsibility back onto the mechanics fitting these modifications. So now he will be effected aswell because there will likely be a down turn in performance modifications which is a large part of his business. I dont think the government has put enough thought into this.... there just worried about looking popular to the older generation so they want to look like they are doing something... but do they not realise they are alienating a huge section of there voters... ie particularly car enthusiasts in the 18-35ish age bracket??
  15. Not sure Roo, just stated rear suspension 5mm to low he rekons he said to the cop "if i took my stuff out the boot that would bring it up enough" and the cop said to him that that wouldnt be necessary. Now, he got done for a few other things, so i dont know if the cop meant, "that wont be necessary, im defecting you anyway for other stuff", or "that wont be necessary, i dont really care".
  16. yup...he showed me the form cos he didnt want me to think he was making excuses! This was in a VT commodore, tidy enough looking with rims. The problem is that 80% of the installs we do would be in commodores, so if they start defecting and crushing them then whats that going to do to our turnover?
  17. Just had a customer cancel a booking for tomorrow because his car got defected, don't suppose the government is going to take into account the effect these stupid new laws will have on small business! One of the things he got defected for... rear suspension 5MM to low....yes thats right FIVE millimetres...
  18. LOL, well atleast this battery will charge up again Craig, yours is ready for recycling! Sorry to hear mate, but as stated above, as long as the pod filter is mounted solidly with a bracket then its legal. Im very suprised they didnt say anything bout the fuel system though! We sell sub box staps at work that screw to the box and then to the car and they have a clip in the middle you can undo if you need to get the box out the way!
  19. I think alot of us will needing to be doing the same thing in the near future! No point in trying to hide anything these days cos they are allowed to look and you will no doubt end up in more trouble for trying to conceal it!
  20. The 260 is the same Luke, i've already had one discussion with a police officer about the fact he implied i had hidden BOV's and that they must be aftermarket. I still dont think he believed me even after i explained that they were stock and in the factory location. And there in lies the problem, he didnt know what he was looking at and if he wanted he could have sent me to regency for them to confirm it, fortunately he was reasonable and let it go.
  21. lol, im at work and cant leave But same again, perfect example of what i was saying, what happens when it is my word against yours, will the authorities automatically jump on the side of the caller?? And in anycase it will probably still end up with your car being inspected and being done for something even if it didnt have anything to do with the initial complaint. And whats the laws on your car being inspected on your own property? Are they allowed to, do they require some sort of waranty if its locked away? And could you argue that its not being taken out on the road like that etc?? And Talbo, you wouldnt be the only one that would be in that situation, how many nosey neighbours and granny's will call the number just because they deem your car to be too loud when you come home at midnight when you would also be able to hear a pin drop in most neighbourhoods, just because your coming home late doesnt make you a hoon.
  22. lol thanks Krishy, but that there is a perfect example of my point, it would be as easy as that for someone to get someone else in trouble! And its impossible for me to be doing that right now, i cant get it out of the garage cos its being blocked by nenes 260 with a flat battery! Apparently when i got the front bar resprayed they must have left the door open with the light on cos it was running when i picked it up, then i took it home and switched it off and then went to start it the next morning and got nothing, me thinks they jump started it before i got there! Doh!
  23. 131 444..isnt that the quick response police number...bit odd me thinks! Never thought id say this, but i agree with what one of the NS boys said, next time you see some middle or old aged driver doing less than the marked speed limit, disobeying keep left rules, failing to indicate and jamming on the breaks at the last moment to turn because there eye sight is so poor they cant see street signs, then call the number and dob them in, there just as dangerous in my opinion if not more so! Basically anyone can call this number and dob on anyone for anything, and i imagine if you have more than one person make a complaint about something then your probably going to get a visit where they are most likely going to ask to see the car and in turn no doubt give you a pretty yellow sticker for your troubles. The problem with that as i see it though is you could have an ex girlfriend you have pissed off, or a grandma next door neighbour that goes to bed at 6pm ring up and get you in trouble just because they have something against you! From a legal point of view doesnt it come down to "my word against yours" when theres no proof, and what happened to the biggest one of all innocent until PROVEN guilty???
  24. I like in that article how they say if you have a "flashy" car and abide by the road rules that you wont have a problem, but if you have a heavily modified vehicle and are involved in hoon behaviour then they will get you. Well what if you have a heavily modified vehicle but obey the road rules, does that mean you will be ok??.... i dont think so. And yes that is a 32 in a couple of the pics.
  25. Hi Mark, The biggest question in regard to you getting money back for your car, that as far as i can see no one has asked, did the other guy have insurance? If he doesnt have insurance then you could be massively out of luck. I knew of someone in a simialr situation where the other guy that caused the accident didnt have insurance either and it ended up going to court with an outcome that the guy that caused the accident had to repay $10 a week because he didnt have the money, so although you may eventually get your money its of no real help because of the time span. Fingers are crossed for you that he does have comprehensive insurance. Not to lecture you as there has already been plenty of that, but this does highlight the need for even 3rd party insurance, because atleast that way you have some one on your side. And i know the financial issues that can effect having insurance, i pay something ridiculous like 4k each year with the cars i have, but i like to know that they are protected, and one of them i only drive 2 or 3 times a year if its lucky, but if the shed its stored in burns down its not covered as contents and i would be throwing 70k down the drain so im forced to have it insured. And as someone mentioned previously, without insurance if the car got stolen you wouldnt have a leg to stand on and all you could do is hope its recovered in reasonable condition, which is unfortunately unlikely with a GTR. Anyway, good luck with it all, i hope it works out in your favour somehow. Ben
