  1. AGE that's awesome work! I'd love to see a detailed screen by screen explanation of how you chop cars and get that effect. It is absolutely brilliant! Have you done the Winfield GT-R chopped like that? I imagine it would be bloody difficult compacting the 'Winfield' signage, but it would look an absolute treat!
  2. I'll get on to it when I can then. Also, the focus in threads like these are on European and Australian Group A. Does anyone have any good pics of the Japanese Group A scene up until, say, the end of 1993?
  3. That is seriously good! Please consider doing the Winfield, 1990 and GIO liveries too. Great stuff!!!!
  4. Hi all, I played around with Photoshop and used a 2D side-on pic of the R34 JGTC GT-R as the basis to lay on liveries from the Gibson Motorsport R32 Group A GT-Rs. What do you think? I would love for others to put their superior Photoshop skills to use and do something 3 dimensional on the R33, R34 and new R35 GT-Rs..... I am extremely cognisant of my limited abilites and have seen some seriously talented people on these forums.... Thanks......... Andrew

    Line Art

In Photoshop CS2 there is a function you can go to through the drop down menus that takes you to 'Sketching' (I think), then 'Find Edges'. I use this tool and it finds the edges in any pictures. I then remove the colour from the image. It looks a mess to start with but with some judicious erasing you can be left with some good lines on the car.
  6. Any updates on how this doco is coming along? Any updates on the restoration of this Group A car? Is it going to be in the 1991 livery? I believe the car that was sold to Asia (and is now returned) was the 1991 Bathurst winner. Can anyone confirm?
  7. Are you able to scan the box art in hi-res and post it up here? Please? The box art for Fujimi and Tamiya is excellent.
  8. Great stuff! A new thread specifically for Group A material. I was thinking of scanning up an August 1989 article from CAR Australia where Paul Gover tests the R31 Gibson Motorsport Group A Skyline. When I next get access to a scanner I'll scan the article and post it up for everyone.
  9. Sydneykid - this may be one for you......
  10. That was me. Thanks so much for the pictures. I thought the Aussie racecams may have bene larger cameras, but in the absence of any evidence to that, this is fantastic. Thanks!!!!
  11. Thanks mate!!!! Great pics on this thread, great discussion. I also picked up the new mag with the GIO GT-R on the cover. It's great seeing these cars back out on the track to enjoy all over again. I enjoyed the article too (error on engine capacity notwithstanding). However, it seems (quite understandably but unfortunately) that Jim Richards' podium outburst is the one point journalists seem to fixate on. Not the fact that that the race was run in possibly the most atrocious conditions to hit the Mountain on race day; that the world lost a champion in Denny Hulme; that it was essentially the last true Group A Bathurst.... All of these are landmark, but the overriding story seems to be Jim's deserved reply to a bunch of knuckle dragging oxygen thieves. It's a shame the race isn't remembered for more than that.....
  12. Gary, Jet and djr81 Thanks for the replies guys. I appreciate it. I think I may have to study the paused images from the 1992 highlights DVD to get a feel for the camera. I assumed it was quite large and heavy (it was 1992....) but I thought if anyone anywhere would have pics, someone here would! My next stop will probably be Channel 7's motorsport department. I'd say any request I put to them may be filed in the cylindrical filing cabinet on the floor..... Jet - I'd love to see any pics you have of the Winfield before or after Terry's restoration. I have seen the pics from Zoom magazine, but if you have any others.... Thanks everyone for the discussion and the pictures. It's great! Cheers Andrew
  13. I was incredibly saddened to hear of Anders Oloffson's passing. At such a young age too. Jetwreck, thanks for the amazing pictures! I don't suppose you have any of the start of the Great Race from 1990, 1991 and 1992 do you? Also, I am looking for good clear pictures of the interior of the Gibson R32 GT-Rs from when they raced (1990, 1991 and 1992) - and also of Channel 7's Racecam camera. I'd like to see how it was mounted, where precisely it was mounted, the size of the camera, where any cabling went to etc. It's an odd question I know, but this is one detail of the cars that no-one ever mentions and that I don't have any pictures of (unless I took a screen grab from the race coverage...)
  14. I picked up a copy of these highlights from Sanity (the music retailers) for $29.95
  15. This is an excellent thread. I've thoroughly enjoyed the pictures and scans from old magazines. Seeing the first Group A magazine scan as well as the Auto Action cover was a treat. If you have any more Auto Action scans of any of the ATCC rounds, please post them up. You will have a receptive audience - that's for sure! Thanks also for the pics of the GIO car in Rundle Mall - that looks the real deal and no show car. Thank you too for the pictures of Skaife's write-off from the 1990 Australian GP. Those two pics are the only ones I have ever seen of it. I have not found any video footage or other visual record of that crash, so seeing that was a real treat. Many many thanks!
  16. Out of interest, what sort of prices were you after?
  17. I am Tasmanian just moved to Canberra..... I too miss the variation in cars. Ford Vs Holden.... *yawn* a silhouette series...... If you can dig the images out, you'd have many people salivating here!
  18. I don't suppose you have any more hi-res images like these....? This GMS doco project looks very interesting. And I love the 1991 'fake' as well. Awesome stuff. The Japanese do the same with their roadcars.
  19. Drove up from Canberra for the show, had a look around, took a few pics - some very very nice cars! The no-show of the Gibsn cars was a real shame - I was dearly wanting to see them! The Just Jap display was appreciated! Alot of work and alot of love and care put into the cars on show. Thanks everyone for showing off your prides and joy! Thanks also to the organisers for putting this event on. It was a great opportunity to see like-minded people together. I didn't introduce myself to anyone as I am a very casual member who lurks, reads and doesn't post much, but still wanted to thank everyone for the effort they put in. And especially the organisers. Top work guys and girls! Cheers Andrew
  20. Bravo!!! More pics, more pics!!!! The Group A R32's please!!!
  21. This looks to be a great project. I wish you luck with it! Is this car recently imported from Asia? Is this (one of) the Gibson cars that was sold? I know nothing about this vehcile at all.....
