I just looked up the floor mount pedal box......another thing I hadnt considered. Very interesting indeed. Apart from adjustable floor position, what else do you like about them? Is it the bias adjust-ability? How much hassle is it to fit them? Looks like a dash out job to me, which is going to be hard now the cages extra a pillar supports are going in to my R32. -

WOW. I didnt even realise people went to that much trouble to balance a skyline and get the weight distribution even. There must only be a small amount anyone can push the seat back or else how do you reach the pedals? I just put the seat where the driving position felt comfortable for arms and legs. I think I will worry about improving my driving technique first for a few years and then maybe look at these things down the track in stage 2 or 3 of the rolling build. -

Andrew from Trackart is doing the cage. When he finishes it goes back to RPM for some more goodies. -

I hear you. Andrew who is building the cage is the same height as me so that helps in the checking process when building. I have not sat in it yet with the seat in and the cage as I am away for work in WA. When I get back next week it should be finished so I will do a sit and with helmet and post a few photos. regards, Ev -

thanks for the link. I appreciate it. Yeah I am upgrading the brakes with some new brand that RPM are trialling for the first time on Chris' car. The brand escapes me but I will get it for you and post it next week. He thinks they will be great value for money for racing purposes. If I didnt go for those I was planning on finding a second hand set of F40 or F50 brembos (plan B). -
Now I look back over your thread I am even more impressed at the attention to detail Paul. Nice work.

I am going to do the clutch master as well I think. Good idea. Burger looked the goods as well

Haha... I am average height. I am 177cm tall. We mocked up the seat to the fitted height and I sat in with helmet and had a tonne of head clearance. Andrew commented he was surprised how much head room there was! Fingers crossed I fit in -

Hmmm.....maybe Chris is planning on doing the modded Cusco ones and I have my wires crossed. I will check up on that. I will do some running on the Bilsteins and see how they go. then I will have something to compare them to if I upgrade. I have booked a day at Sandown in November for her first run with John Bowe advanced driving....looking forward to that. -

Thanks for the detailed reply on the cage/rego. I think I will take your advice and stick with rally rego and then club permit in 2014. It makes sense now I think about the total picture. The car currently has bilstein shocks on it (adjust comp and rebound & height). Chris said they were ok for now. I would probably go with the Teins for the next upgrade but am open to suggestion. whats the difference with MCA versus the RPM Tiens? I need to purchase and fit some adjustable arms for the front etc. It has adjustable camber arms on the rear already. cheers. -

Hi All, I have been thinking about the cage and seats and belts and how I may be able to get the car on the road for ease of getting it to the track..... This is probably old news to those in the know......but I have done a little research for Victoria and roll cages and registration in Victoria and found the following useful link: If I read it right, a VASS can sign off on the cage as conforming as long as you can check all the boxes listed. It seems seats and seat belts can be replaced with the racing items as long as they meet the checklist requirements such as the tubes they are secured to being strong enough to support the loads they may see in an accident... First link - look at section 9.5, it has a paragraph referring to rollcages. It then refers you to the VASS checklist for modifications. http://www.vicroads....torvehicles.pdf Page 51 refers to roll cages and is the VASS checklist. http://www.infrastru...1Jan2011_v2.pdf SO, that said I wonder if when this build is finished if a trip to my local VASS Engineer will see the car able to be registered again?? Has anyone tried this before???? Quote MultiQuote Edit -
