You should be able to get the XBOX360 premium package for around $400 now (ebay, phone bundle etc). The PS3 will be about double that price.

A few XBOX360 have had a few problems but its only a very small few - this is expected with any device and its well below the acceptable level. Unfortunately you always hear from the ones that have problems so it seems alot worse.

It seems that PS3 and XBOX360 dont have as many 'exclusive titles' now so either console will be fine.

HDMI is not necessary but would be nice if you have a proper hdtv tv (1080p).

XBOX360 you can play backups and im sure the next version (with HDMI) will stop this so even more of an excuse to get it now.

My conclusion:

Get an XBOX360. The XBOX360 you can play backups, is cheaper and is pretty much just as good as the PS3 will ever be.

    • As MBS suggested if this is happening when the engine is cold you're going to want to remove the intake air regulator and verify resistance + that the shutter is physically opening and closing. At -20C should be fully open, 20C half open, over 60C fully closed. At 20C should be 70-80 ohms. For AAC valve testing using a Consult cable see if you can raise and lower the idle by commanding more or less AAC duty cycle. Hopefully it's pretty linear as well, shouldn't be like 30% AAC valve is barely idling and 40% is 1500 rpm.
    • Bloody apprentices! 🙄
    • Not sure yet.  Was considering speedtek because it was rated to 800hp, but when I did some research about him I don't think I will go for that🤣 So maybe giken gear set, but I'm afraid it won't be strong enough🙄
    • Keeping in mind that for most people this is a week to month long job!
    • Its also worth mentioning that 30 years after it left the factory and god knows how many missed oil changes since, there is every possibility that one or more lifters are ticking because they are sticky/gummed up. To resolve that you need to pull the cams then pull each lifter, disassemble, clean, reassemble, soak in oil and re-install, and they should come up good as new.
