Well last nite at 1 i was driving home. There is this road about 1 min from my house which i usually gun it down.

Well some cops were hiding along a side street. They heard me so followed me home. I pulled up in my driveway, noticed a cop car behind me, i was like shit!

Anyway got done for too low and rears bald. I was lucky, they could of screwed me, so its not really bothering me. They seemed to be nice guys, however luckily had no idea and didnt even pop my hood pheww. They also asked if my 3.5 inch exhaust is stock, which i replied, im not sure, but it went through regency like this a few weeks ago.

So my question is, can i adjust my Teins to the correct height, or is that still illegal, as they only said it was too low, nothin about dampness etc.

Anyhelp appreciated

Thanks

Dean

cool, but why the police station? just go to an transport ministry vehicle inspection centre. police and transport are different entities alltogether. I never..ever go to the police station voluntarily

in my yellow, sometimes the cops give me 2 weeks,if they woke up on the wrong side of bed, theyll give me 7 days,,so check how long he gave you, should be allright. Hope you pass with no troubles

at least u dont have to go to regency man.......u bought ur car from motorcity imports it used to belong to one of the guys at autobahn at mile end..........in my old sileighty i had adjustables that were too low and the cop let me off with my blow off cos i daid the blow off was real quiet and the shoks i can change cos they are adjustable.....

There is a web site some where around that states the specs for all the skylines inc. ride heights.

The ride height is measured from the center of the wheel to the guard. I'm sure you all knew that anyway.

So just get your tape measure out and adjust to factory 4wd specs. :D

My car is a direct import, so its not aussie s/h.

The cop gave me 72 hours to drive it, after that it can only b driven if im gettin repairs done to it.

He said i have to take to to a police station to get the drivng period extended. Then when my booked date at regency comes, i have to take it there for an inspection.

What im worried about is all my other mods, exhaust, BOV, strut brace, airflilter, etc

Will regency check these even thou its not on the defect (only too low and rears bald)

Now im beginning to worry.

So wat do i do, go to the cop shop or a transport ministy inspection thing??

When you go over regency they will check everything.

Is the BOV a plumback one, if not you will need to change it.

Exhaust is ok as long as it is not very loud, easy to put a restrictor in it if it is loud. Airfilter im not sure on, you may be ok with it.

Well I had to throw my air on recirc today 3 times due to crappy old cars blowing excessive smoke while a cop car was sitting next to me, they didn't even blink.

----------

This is one reason why i'm keeping my car 'looking' as stock as possible. i.e ride height, engine bay, wheels.

Enrico, they check every thing, or maybe its just me or my car.

Anyway, initially i got defected for:

1. After market BOV, regardless plumback, no noise, whatever fuvk it is, as long as its aftermarket u cant have it. thats what i was told by this cop, his face is always gonna be in my head.

2. Air filter, ONLY stock one, i was told by this same cop.

Next chapter:

Go to regency, they run through every single thing. Or again maybe its just me or my car.

Anyway, good luck bro.

I'm also going to get on to their www site and see if i can track anything down.. If i can then i will print it out and keep it in my car for an emergency.

I still remember when I first bought my VS V8 Commodore.. Did absolutly nothing wrong was babying it home and I was pulled over. I was 19 at the time.

Is this your car? "yes" ok where the stash spot? "wtf?? what stash spot" they then proceded to stick their hand in the back of my glove box and push everything out on to the floor.. I wasn't a smart arse either that is what i couldn't work out.... he made me so pissed and held me up for 30 mins going over the car. Didn't defect me luckly as the only thing wrong with it is that it was a little low as it had bilstein adj. shocks and lowered suspension so that the guards sat roughly 1 1/2 fingers about the 16" VR GTS mags.. raaaaaaaaaa ... ;) I'll make a new post when i get some info...

    • Has equal chance of cleaning an AFM and f**king an AFM. I think you can work out what happened. When the Hitachi ECU sees the AFM die and goes into the associated limp mode, then it will start and run just fine, because it ignores the AFM and just runs on idle maps that will do what it needs to get it going. But there is no proper load signal, so that's about all it can do. My suggestion? If you don't want to go full aftermaket ECU, then get some R35 GTR AFM cards and some housings to put them in, in the stock location, and Nistune the ECU. Better to do a good upgrade than just replace shitty 40 year old tech with the same 40 year old tech.
    • So my car was recently having trouble starting on initial crank, I would need to feather the gas for it to start up but besides that it would start and run fine. So I clicked the idle air control valve (with throttle body cleaner) and cleaned the MAF sensors (with MAF cleaner). The start up issue was fixed and now the car turns over without the assist of the throttle, but the car is in limp mode and wont rev past 2.5k RPM. From what I understand the IACV would not put the car in limp mode, so I am to believe it is the MAF sensors, but it was running fine before and now I cant get it out of limp mode. I cleaned the MAF made sure the o rings were seated properly. Made sure the cables were plugged in properly, the cables also both read the same voltage. Does anybody know why this is or what could be causing this or how to get it out of limp mode?
    • Ooo I might actually come and bring the kids, however will leave the shit box home and take the daily
    • Thanks. Yeah I realised that there's no way I'd be able to cover the holes with the filler, it would just fall through. Thanks again @GTSBoy!
    • That was the reason I asked. If you were going to be fully bodge spec, then that type of filler is the extreme bodge way to fill a large gap. But seeing as you're going to use glass sheet, I would only use that fibre reinforced filler if there are places that need a "bit more" after you've finished laying in the sheet. Which, ideally, you wouldn't. You might use a blob of it underneath the sheet, if you need to provide some support from under to keep the level of your sheet repair up as high as it needs to be, to minimise the amount of filler you need on top. Even though you're going bodge spec here, using glass instead of metal, the same rules apply wrt not having half inch deep filler on the top of the repair. Thick filler always ends up shitting the bed earlier than thin filler.
