Hi, i was out at willowbank tonight for 7-11, met some other skyliners as well. I got in 5 runs fer the night and i got there at ard 730pm and left ard 1045pm, could have been more runs if i didnt go out to get more air in my tyres. It was a good night out and i finally got my ass into the 11's. LoL, i still suck big time on launching, someone give me some lessons on launching manz. ;) who else was out there tonight? Anyone had pics? I was in the white GTR32 with the GT wing.

Best run was actually my first, did a 11.79 @ 119mph, got a run in later with 12.08 @ 124mph, so obviously i suck at launching. :) But being on 18" wheels, i'm still pretty satisfied with the results. Prolly with more practice, i could do my car justice by clocking low 11s. LoL~

from memory launching in my old AWD GTiR and GTR was .. 5000rpm and riding the clutch out power more and smoke ur mirrors... i miss them cars..

my mate told me a story from his mate when he used to work on the GTRs in bathurst.. one team sent a memo to nismo/nissan in japan saying they cant get the thing to get off the line.. just kept bogging down.. and nissan replied litterally, give it some stick u women 7500rpm and dump it..

lol story was something along the lines of that..

11s congrats.. ;)

Thanx markimak~ LoL well yeah i tried dumping it at 7000++, but i will just end up with my rpm dropping down to like 3000 and end up losing lotsa time when i throw my clutch. Just didnt seem to be able to get a good launch, i dunno if it's my 2way lsd. I think riding the clutch out and not dumping it seems to be better. Ideally with 17s n a better launch low 11s should be achievable. But oh well just wanted to go out n get a few runs in and have some fun. I'm not too serious abt drag~ ;) And sheesh it sure is getting cold already these days~

Not bad time good stuff, what point where you shifting at you werent shifting too early were you, as for the mph it should be alot higher id have to say for the power you have :S go figure there time to get yaself some smaller rims and/or stickier tyres and practice practice practice ;) oh and for the 2 way lsd, That helps never hinders on times Overall have to say good stuff

Hey Jyo,

I saw you on the drive back in your car, I was in the Maroon gtr with stockers etc. and my bro behind me in the black r33 gtst. Was a good night, hard to get traction to begin.

Did you see that Blue R33 gtr? had mad big horsepower but he had heaps bigger probs gettin it off the line- total wheel spin! Nice sound and gr8 burnouts though.

Best we could get out of the R33 was 13.2 pretty stock though so happy with that, and best outa my gtr was 12.6 which is also very stock except for pods and exhaust

good fun, all the best

yeah not saying the massive8k dump is the way to go but.. that was the story i heard from my mate.. and coincidentally he ran a 12.6 in his near stock N1 GTR

:bunny:

if ur keen ill give launching a try in ur GTR.. i use to get my old GTR off the line easially.. my friends wer amazed with pulling like 3-4 carlengths on ther silvias.. haha ther faces was priceless.. 5000rpm and ride it out to 6000rpm and boom... bye bye... was using 225 17s and they spun up a lil.. and with the 245 it was noticably quicker..

the G force u feel with a decent launch..

Yeah it should be faster, i need to work on my launch n shifting i guess~

Thanx Devil~

madr32: yeah i saw u guys on the way back! Well fer me the launch is my biggest obstacle somehow. But overall was a good night, am satisfied with the times 2nd time out at willowbank~

    • Well the install is officially done. Filled with fluid and bled it today, but didn't get a chance to take it on a test drive. I'll throw some final pics of the lines and whatnot but you can definitely install a DMAX rack in an R33 with pretty minor mods. I think the only other thing I had to do that isn't documented here is grind a bit of the larger banjo fitting to get it to clear since the banjos are grouped much tighter on the DMAX rack. Also the dust boots from a R33 do not fit either fyi, so if you end up doing this install for whatever reason you'll need to grab those too. One caveat with buying the S15 dust boots however is that the clamps are too small to fit on the R33 inner tie rod since they're much thicker so keep the old clamps around. The boots also twist a bit when adjusting toe but it's not a big deal. No issues or leaks so far, steering feels good and it looks like there's a bit more lock now than I had before. Getting an alignment on Saturday so I'll see how it feels then but seems like it'll be good to go
    • I don't get in here much anymore but I can help you with this.   The hole is a vent (air relief) for the brake proportioning valve, which is built into the master cylinder.    The bad news is that if brake fluid is leaking from that hole then it's getting past the proportioning valve seals.   The really bad news is that no spare parts are available for the proportioning valve either from Nissan or after market.     It's a bit of a PITA getting the proportioning valve out of the master cylinder body anyway but, fortunately, leaks from that area are rare in my experience. BTW, if those are copper (as such) brake lines you should get rid of them.    Bundy (steel) tube is a far better choice (and legal  in Australia - if that's where you are).
    • EMU Classic. For what I need it to do I see no reason to upgrade. Link and Haltech would both cost an extra chunk of money for a lot of unutilized features
