Hi,

My R33 was imported to AUS in May 07, and at the time it had 95000 on the clock(i am the first owner), which means that i would need to do the timing belt and the water pump soon, but i noticed JAP sticker, its on the cover of the timing belt saying 91365 KM, and somthing else in jap which i am trying to figure out ... i am thinking that they replaced it before the car got to AUS, other belts seem new, water pump has a slightly different colour, and the screws around and on it seem to be worked on,

I am not shore, should i risk or not??? if it was done no point doing it again and plust it cost 6 7 800 bucks ...

I will take the cover of to check the belt for cracks and see (it should still look new)

But if the sticker confirms that it was done ... i will be the happiest :P

Can anyone translate it to me, plz

Thanks

Your sticker says...

Timing belt change

Date: 24 November 2006

Odo: 93165

Just a sticker though, anyone could have put it there! Still if the belt looks in new condition you can be fairly confident it has been done.

Hi,

Thanks for that pal, i will still take the cover off to have a look.

I dont think that anyone would put somthing like ther just to f...ck someone up if it wasnt done, at least it wouldnt do it, but u know ther r all sorts of ppl out there ... but again noone can benifit from it

Thanks a lot again.

Youre getting ripped off if you've been quoted that much!

    • Just to add, I found the r32 gtr ecu the most forgiving, the r33 one would get the shits.
    • For what it’s worth I drove my gtr for over a decade with gt-ss as a true daily after I pulled off the -5s, I had it engineered and went with stock ecu etc.  never skipped a beat.    I would only worry if you can’t get good fuel all the time in a tropical paradise
    • I bought an engine from a friend of a friend many years ago, it was sold to me as a RB25det Neo.    recently I started pulling it apart and noticed that the intake manifold was pretty different from others that I had seen on RB engines so did a bit of research and found that it was a non turbo manifold. So I’m sceptical now that it is a NEO DET and just thinking it’s a NEO DE (it does have a turbo strapped to it currently).    can you identify the engine model from the numbers on the block?
    • Yeah you can. Cable tie the gauge to a windscreen wiper, or run it into the car and hold it with one hand, or have the neighbour's kid run alongside and tell you what it says.
    • I've never understood why this bothers people. Surely you'd be looking at a T3 flanged Garrett style thing, rather than a TD? You're unlikely to push a +T hard enough to need that much fuel. If you're not starting with most of the things you need to do that (ie, the bloody ECU!), you're better off just going Haltech/Link. You wil hate life a lot less. No. Just no. Just turbo it as is.
