BOOSTD
How was it proven to be the head gasket and not two broken pistons? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/207743-r32-gtr-blown-head-gaskett/#findComment-3679381 Share on other sites
OHR32T
All the cylinders have been commpression tested. The issue occured on startup and no whilst being driven ,i have had 3 mechanics come have a look at it before my mate and i started to strip the engine in prep for the rebuild. The car was only running 8 psi of boost at the time of the issue. Their is no metal in the oil which from what ive been told would be a head gaskett not a shattered piston or cracked block. Aslo the mechanics went over the car whilst the car was running and told me its a head gaskett as well as they have also come back and done a bit of work stripping the engine and still say its the head. Nismo_Boy
Any written mechanical reports done by workshop/mechanic (not your mate) as evidence it’s only a head gasket? What wheels are you putting on to replace the gold ones for a lower price? I have an offer in mind, however it maybe insulting to you, as to be honest it’s more of a gamble box of bits currently. PM me if you want to discuss more I guess. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/207743-r32-gtr-blown-head-gaskett/#findComment-3690399 Share on other sites
BOOSTD
put compressed air in cyl 5 and a vac hose into cyl 6 up to your ear, should be a hiss for the head gasket leak. Otherwise broken ring lans between the top and 2nd ring only loose compression but won't leak hardly any oil until the 2nd to oil retainer skirt breaks. OHR32T
Will most likely be putting standard GTR rims back on or other wise i will put 19s on but the price wont go down as much. The car never went to a workshop , so im not sure how to get formal paperwork. But ill speak to the mechanics and see if they can get one through their workshop.
