How old are you? - serious question, as a GTR insurance will probably kill you if you are under 25.

I would suggest if under 25, stick with the GTS-t for now, mod it a bit, but don't go crazy on it, just do enough to keep yourself happy. Then when the time comes, sell the GTS-t without too much invested and buy a GTR

Why are teens too desperate for the 'my dick is bigger than yours' game?

The money you'll save not having to insure a GTR will get you some nice mods on the GTS-t, or for the GTR later.

Insurance isnt a problem if his already full comp insured anyways - its only a few hundred in difference(going by Just Car's quotes)... it'll be more the maintenance and cost of stuff that goes bang that would shred his wallet to bits.

Stick to the GTSt, do some basic cost-effective mods, exhaust, cooler, boost control, chipped ecu, suspension (in approx that order) and learn how to drive well with 160RWKW to start. You'll be quicker than 95% of what's out there and not broke.

After that, better turbo with a FPR and you're set for 200RWKW. Much more and you start to affect the drivability of a RB20.

DONT GET A FORD.

if u got a gtst, buy a gtr front cut and drop the motor and gearbox in and leave it rear wheel drive.

half the cost, same insurance price, and more fun.

plus gtst are just as much fun as gtr, and with the rite stuff can be just as good.

but get urself sum really really good suspension parts first.

Honestly drive your GTS-T the way it is dont worry bout spending another cent on it, its just going to drop in value anyway with the market flooded, any mods will just mean more money you loose when you go to sell it as there are plenty of modded 33's available.

Wait till your 21+ by that time 32 GT-R's would have dropped in value again which will give you more money for mods and speeding tickets.

well right now i'm sticking to my r33 gtst! gonna keep it and go for r33 gtr, although i could get one now but i rather not! i rather learn how to drive my current car and then look at upgrading after i'm comfortable with it! it'll be more exciting when you learn how to properly drive your car and then jumping into something similar with better brakes, better traction and more torque!

well that's my opinion and what i'm doing anyway!

i think that you should wait for a GTR and do up some basic mods for your gtst....exhaust, intercooler and maybe a ebc and a retune and you will be a lot happy once you get some decent power by doing that also boost it up to around 10-12 psi and that should be good for a while....keep it like that and enjoy it and save for a GTR for later mate.....i am more then happy with the performance of my r33 gtst and would be nice to have a GTR but happy with the gtst....

my 2cents worth

All good advice above... and most of us have been in the same boat.

It took me 16 years to be able to afford my GTR... and now that I have one I love it .....but it mostly sits in the shed.

For a young guy I definitely would say mod the Gtst without going nuts.

I had one for six years with 200rwkw and it was a reliable great fun and daily driven car. That is the SMART choice.

A GTR is a great car but does require expensive parts and maintenance, especially at the age most are now.

Enjoy....

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
