HI GUYS,

I am having problems with my hicas light.

The light turns on about half an hour of driving and the back

wheel kicks out.

If i turn the car off then on again the light goes out.

The car is a 1993 R32 Gts4t.

Has anyone ever had this problem before i have taken the

car to several mechanics and no one has been able to

fix the problem.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.......

Hey Enrico,

We have found the problem when you put your steering wheel on make sure it is perfectly straight and the hicas sensor is in the right place.

what happens is when you have been driving for over 20 minutes the computer senses that you cannot be turning all that time and has a dummy spit the arse end kicks out and light comes on.

I had been to many mechanics here in sydney and none of them

knew what they were doing some supposed import specialists.....

Try this and let me know how you go.

Regards,

Daniel

I am not sure about where the dead centre is i have tried to get the wheels as straight as i can and re fit the wheel.

No luck its still a bit off centre i will try moving the wheel i notch

again tomorrow.

If that doesn't work i am going to Unique Auto Sports on saturday for a service i might get them to have a look into it and

see if there is something i am overlooking......

OK

There was something i overlooked.

ON the rod where the wheel fits onto has got a mark on it and geuss what i am 99% sure that this is the top dead centre mark.

Also on the standard wheel there is a mark on the top centre....

How stupid of me to overlook that i must have been drunk.

Hopefully this fixes my problem and more importantly helps someone else.

With the aftermarket wheels make sure you have a hicas boss kit with any luck they will have a mark top centre aswell and so they should at around $250AU ea.

I haven't seen one as of yet i am on a pretty tight budget and would rather do some performance mods than anything else.

Well thats enough crapping on from me i will be updating again tommorrow night with how it goes need to go on a freeway to test it out properly...

Well im pissed off still not workin dont know what to do now.

I had the car serviced today and have been told that the front end bushes are F**KED and they will need replaceing.

Dont know if this could be contributing to the problem.

Might have to take it back to UAS and get them to have a look at it for me.

Dan

I have a '93 GTS-4 and I am also having a problem (I think) with my HICAS, my light stays off while I am driving and all that, the fluid levels are all full but the back end seems to be kicking about now and then, especially when I go over high gaps in tarmac (like at the start of different surfaces with dodgy roadwork and bridges).

Does anyone know what might be the problem?

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
