Need Help With Leds In Footwell

Recommended Posts

hey guys

so im trying to hook up a couple of blue led strips (from jaycar) to the dome light of my r32 sedan.

ive got a switch, fuse and everything to do it

im hooking them up to my headlights (already done), a kill switch (done) and the dome light so when the doors are opened they will come on

anyways, anyone know what wire to tape to get it to come on while door is open (preferably without ripping out the roof lining) ??

ive found the wire going from the door switch (a red one with a black stripe)

but it is opposite to what i want, when doors shut it comes on and door closed its off

arrr its soo frustrating ...

anyone got some answers or ideas ??

cheers

troy

its a reverse switch

so i tapped that wire and it works opposite to how i want

when doors closed the wires live and when the doors open the wires not

so im going to try tapping the red and white wire in the front pillar

if it doesnt work then ill report back haha

thanks for trying but mate

EDIT: tried taping the front pillar but no luck :P still going by the opposite. anyone know how this circuit acctually works ??

Hey matey, i have done similar to what you want to do. I have white LED stripes attached to the underside of my door, that turn on and off with the door opening and closing. I would recomend trying to attach them to the light around the ignition barrel, as that is where i attached mine and i have not had any dramas.

draw a diagram of what you have tried..

since from a normally -ve switch system you connect a test light to it, it will light up when you earth the earth switch trigger wire to earth as it completes the circuit
