Launceston is a bit far away. I'm living in glenorchy at the moment.

At the moment I have very limited skills which would be suitable for an office job. I'm just looking to get out of the labouri g side of things. I have good computer knowledge but am willing to learn or take courses necessary.

It might help mate, if you posted up what you can do.

Can you use Microsoft office?

Can you use any work related programs or have you used them before? MYOB? any tax programs and so on? It might be an idea to get your hands on some of these and have a play around. If you can familiarise yourself with them, you would be a bit more "skilled" for an office job.

But IMO most office jobs consits of answering phones, transfering calls,

collecting mail, filing, organising paperwork for people,

and general computer work (depending on the industry).

this is obviously a *very* generalised and simplistic synopsis of what it is to do an office job. there is more to it... but generally they would be your main tasks

Do the rounds at the department stores as they've all started hiring for Xmas but u may be a bit late.  Just another bit of advice, dress as u would for an interview and be polite to any of the staff you may speak to.  They usually write on the top of the applications their first impressions as you probably won't be speaking to the manager and be available to work.  I have put many applications aside cos applicants have dictated to me when they wanted to work.  if ur looking for 9-5 Monday to Friday then forget working in retail or hospitality.
