Fast Idle Issue... Have Done The Search Just Want To Make Sure Im On The Right Track..

Recommended Posts

Hi guys. My 33 gts-t recently developed the common idle hunt and stall issue. Pleased to report for all those people who search in the future that cleaning the AAC valve almost fixed the problem. It was about 75% there, I then changed the oxy sensor and the car was back to normal 100%. I was thrilled.

I reset the computer aswell.

Now about 2 weeks later a fast idle issue has developed (it dosnt end!)

It is intermitant. Hot or cold, it varies.

The cars idle is smooth but will pick up to about 1800rpm and sit there. Sometimes it will settle down to the normall 7-800ish and othertimes it wont. Its not doing it at the moment but im sure it will come back.

Thoughts? Has anyone had this issue and found the solution?

I have cleaned the afm and set the TPS to 0.43 at closed throttle and 4.1 at WOT with ign ON

Im thinking faulty TPS or AFM? what are peopls thoughts on what would cause this? just dont want to spend money replacing uneccessary things.

thanks guys

    • Learned a bit @PranK To add a twist to this take, I've done some further investigation and turns out I don't know if I even have coilovers. I have Mugen Showa on all corners, which appear to be struts / springs online. Someone may be able to correct me if I'm wrong.
    • Well, i've been told it's going to be in Poland around october - november. It should set off by the end of this month. Waiting for it to arrive is the easy part, searching for the right car, wake up in the middle of the night to see the photos and decide whether to bid or not - that was difficult
    • Thanks mate, i'll keep that in mind. Not sure though if the black carpet will fit grey interior. I'd prefer original Stagea set but if i fail to find one in another few weeks, i will probably come back to you. p.s. - is this original, licensed Nismo product?
    • I'm a strong believer that old sports cars should be reserved as weekend cars and owned by mechanically inclined people. The risk-reward ratio is only acceptable under those conditions.
    • @Stringycheese hopefully this is helpful. 🤣
