Good morning all, I hail from Lake Macquarie NSW & own a 1988 Skyline Wagon, I bought this car 5 years ago off Ebay & was given to understand that other than a slipping clutch it had been well maintained, boy was I taken for a ride there!! For training it from home to Wagga Wagga, registering it, then driving it home with rain bucketing down & a slipping clutch was quite eventful. As the back of the drivers seat had been twisted & I had to stop & get my son to try & straighten it for me. One fine, had to keep the revs up to get up over the mountains at Mt White re the clutch, we arrived home & the car had the clutch done plus something to do with the tail shaft (forgot now lol )as it was worn badly. Anyways so next on the agenda was the exhaust manifold, yep am sure you can all relate there  So I have extractors now must admit not having to worry about gaskets & such very good, ahh but alas the catalytic (not sure on spelling) converter is cactus :P I have basically replaced all that is attached to the motor over the years, expected for the age of the car, but I still cant fully trust it not to break down on me. I am a single mum of 5 & my 18yr old daughter is intellectually & physically disabled, & have been stranded a couple of time with the darn thing. BUT I LOVE driving it, even though it handles like a boat (the suspension has had it, it was used to cart firewood in a past life) she goes she goes she goes!! What an amazing motor in these cars, blows no smoke, have changed the Rocket Cover Gasket & the injectors have been replaced, other than that it is untouched. I soo love driving this car but unfortunately it is too small, my baby twins are now 6'4" tall, leaning to drive, & while for the driver it is fantastic, yes replaced the bucket seats the wreckers love me! ) the back seat is too small  So she has to go, plus out of all by kids none is mechanically minded & as I'm now reduced to a pension I just can't justify they spending on it any more, so she has to go. Basically I know if I try to trade her in no one other than a Skyline owner understands these cars, many people have said to me that they have owned them in the past & regret selling, I know I will but I just can't make the body any bigger!

So fellow owners what would be my best recourse. I have all the receipts for everything that I have had done to her, what would be the best way to at least get something decent for her, trade or private sale?

Many thanks in advance to you all

cheers

Debstar

    • If the forester is anything like our old 2007 GTB Liberty, I could near on run ling Long's and "rate them", as no matter what, it just hung to the road, even when abusing it in a hard launch in the wet, or throwing it at corners.
    • LOL, all of the CAI like Craig I just need to put a hole saw through my bumper Done and dusted, the car runs, which is nice, I'll take it for a spin when the weather clears up Just need to put the bumper back on for good

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
