hi guys another q's i need to findout, im looking at a skyline r33 gtst to buy, and i had an inspection done on it, and it had these things wrong with it, hicas isnt working, but i dont know if the dash light is on or not, i havent been to see the car since the inspection, and blocked vacuum hose from the inlet manifold, has any1 got an idea on why the hose could be blocked, is it becoz it isnt needed an sum1 has just blocked it off, or its clogged up with something??? what does this pipe do anyway. thanx for your help pplz. any info will be appreciated. 85URK!

:Paranoid:

Usually when a plenum hose is blocked off i would have thought that it was oil catch can related. As some people see blocking off this hose is a good thing.Yes it stops the air from your plenum escaping into the rocker cover giving you a higher plenum psi rating. But then it is not such a good thing because the rocker cover has no way of quickly ventilating the oil vapour from the head to the oil catch can.I think it is what is called vapor lock that occurs when there is no air helping it to escape.Yes you need it stock when doing an oil catch can.

I say that he has been missinformed about the fact that doing this to you car will give it more power.

And when you say hicas isnt working then what does that mean?has he removed it alltogether.Or has he locked it with a hicas locking bar or a tomei hicas lock kit?

as far as i know he hasnt locked it with a bar, and its till there, but i was told that it wasnt working, its a new import about 3mnths ago, and guy who owns it is an older type guy, and doesnt race or anything like that, hes done 4000km since he imported it. but i dont even know if he knew about these things?? how would you find out if it has a hicas lock bar?? anyway

hi i dont know what you are talking about.Heres a pic of the hose that runs from the plenum to the rocker cover. Its a pcv one way valve that only allows the air to flow from the plenum to rocker cover..

Here is a link to a thread on all you will need to know about the different types of ways to connect up a oil catch can from street to race legal to illegal on the street. oil catch cans

Hope this answers some of your questions. As for the hicas lock i dont have a pic of it but it may be that you have a tomei hicas electronic lock kit,a little black box that when installed in the boot dissables the hicas it comes with shims to lock the steering mechanism in place, you could easily find somthing on here by using the search button..

I didn't think that was a vacuum hose. He may be talking about the Charcoal Canister hoses or some other pollution gear related vacuum hose. Where does it go from and to. With the Hicas, check the fuse and check that the motor(under car) is still plugged in. Usually they disconnect them overseas.

    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
    • Legend. I ended up finding the facebook account of the owner of the first car i sent but sadly he deactivated the account. I think you’re right in saying it’s some sort of well done custom job. Really appreciate your help anyways.
    • Totally equivalent. Stock often goes from the comp cover because that's where the actuator is also installed and the factory needs 2" of hose to make the connection - and it comes as a pre-assembled unit. They totally have a boost reference from somewhere between the turbo and the throttle(s). Oh, jeez. Just do it in M12 then. We don't actually care that much. I would expect any such AN converter fitting to rely on an o-ring or some other seal onto a flat surface under the flange of the hex**, because bolt threads are no intended to provide a pressure seal. unlike..... pipe threads. **which also requires a suitably flat and smooth surface on the turbo's boss to provide the seal.
