Retrim R33 (part of door trim) Control panel with the power window controls etc

Recommended Posts

Ok. Does anyone know a good one in Sydney or tell me if they have done it themselves.

The control panel on the drivers side with the power window etc has the top layer peeling off. ANyone know a good product to use or a retrimmer and possible cost?

Many Thanks

PS its a 4 door so these parts are slightly different - i.e. couldnt just get another

anyone painted this part themselves to make it look stock and newish>?

hey,

when i bought my na r33 some d*ck had painted these parts white as well as half the centre console, vents etc.

i ended up spending ages gettin the crap off then just got them sprayed up in matt black. didn't come up too bad, just make sure the preparation is spot on.

Yes I've painted mine. When I got my car, the panel was overly shiney and looked like crap. Lived with it for ages until I decided to paint it.

Picked up a product from Supercheap. Can't remember the name (can find out if you really need to), but it's a pigment dye used for plastic and carpet. Gave the panel a good clean with metho, sanded it lightly with wet and dry to take out any minor scatching and hit it with about 3-4 coats of this paint/dye. Used the satin black. Looks absolutely brand new. The dye doesn't come off (rub off) at all. It was so good, I repainted the wing mirrors on my daughters car. They are black plastic which had oxidised and gone a greyish whitein some areas. Same deal as the door trim - came up looking like new.

The satin comes up with the same sort of luster as new plastic. Comes in a heap of colours too.

thanks guys. I have some dye at home in a spray can, but I didnt think that would work on the plastic..ie.e it wouldnt sink in. I thought you really needed something special.

Thanks for the feedback. I might have to go to supercheap and see if I can find the prouct :)

i resprayed most internal removable plastics gold including elec window surround/arm rest

but now im goint to have it all redone in mahogony it will look cool

    • I was only looking because I saw some drops on the ground but it wasn't alot. Recently had it serviced will ask the mech to confirm. Find it strange that it looks standard though, can see in another photo of a random box
    • So...not sure if you know if that has always been there or why you went looking. It could be old damage from a clutch explosion, or even just the gearbox got dropped somewhere along the line. Basically, you should seal it up to stop oil and dust getting into the bellhousing, but it doesn't matter too much and is not structural. I'd suggest something like a glob of JB Weld. BTW what gearbox oil are you running, I would guess the breather has been spewing it everywhere.
    • Hey Duncan thanks for your reply. Sorry mate I know the photos are shit.  Took another photo for reference. Seems the casing does have a hole in it looking on the net, fluid seeping out. Added a photo
    • Very hard to make out what you mean, is it the squarish hole with redline shockproof (probably) under it? Is that pic from on top of the engine with the firewall to the left of pic and engine to the right? Either way, spray the area liberally with degreaser and try again, maybe circle the part you are worried about
    • Hey all, Noticed I have a hole on top of which im guessing is my transfer case/gearbox. I can see it from the middle of my firewall looking down. S1 R33 gtr Any advice or can pinpoint what this is/caused this?
