Hey guys how you all going?

I'm in the process of getting my car finalised and sent down to me! So I'll be one of the few Skyline owners here in Tassie!

I got it imported through a friend here in hobart. It's a Japan import sent down to Sydney for paint job, mag wheels, race seats, body kit and so on. Should get it within the next week or two...

Soundsl ike your going to have one shmick liner on your hands jedinathan. Shouldn't be too hard to tell you apart from everyone else

Let us know when you get it and post up some pics :)

Thanks Grandmaster :(

Yeah it should be alright...look out for a green skyline around hobart soon (if you're around the hobart vicinity).

Do you guys usually catch up around here? I mean are we all on the same team here or does it get a bit "oh look at that idiot driving MY car" kinda thing.

I'm an ex-Lancer owner and that's the kinda shit I'd always put up with.

Well mate we all belong to one big happy family and like any family there is your sibling bitchiness and competitivness nature.

All that said more than happy to catch up, help out, admire, bag and just shoot the perverbrial shiat any day with anyone.

Drop us a line when ya get the car and catch up :(

A lot of people make claims.... when will it see the track?

Yeah there has been a lot of big calls of late about people's cars putting out this amount of HP and doing this 1/4 time, would be nice to see all these cars getting around.

Then i can get some idea's of what they have done to produce such fine automobiles

i heard about some green skylines in at Griffiths Autos recently is one yours?

I saw a green R32 there the other week, I think it was a GT-R (looked like an RB26). It was slammed, pretty stripped out, emerald green, on deeeeeeeeeeep dish Volk 5 spokes, and had a crazy looking body kit (full guard and quarter panel replacement, GT-wing, vented bonnet, big front bar etc). Looked pretty nuts but I didn't go over it. Had a heap of "Yanack Aero" stickers.

That's the one. Stickers are coming off once the diff has been installed. I wont try and come off like "just another guy" making big promises so I wont say it again. If you guys get to Dave Griffiths in the next few days - ask him about it. He took it for a test run and was blown away.

No - both are my dads. He's getting the diff from one installed into the other (the one with the wide body kit). I think it's safe to say it'll be the quickest Skyline in Tassie.

Thats a big ask... I REALLY WANNA SEE IT NOW...

whats it gonna be, drag/track/targa/street car??

remembering that Rickards has run an 11.06 on his old setup,

its on the hoist at atm!

looks wild guys. would have been an exciting car to harness in 2wd.

Well i really want to see it now. Sounds like you have a very noice car on the way jedinathan. BUt i ask you are you a real jedi or just an apprentice :headspin:

Remember - it's my dad's, not mine. I'm not so lucky!

To answer the question before I think he plans on using it as a drag car.

I'm a Jedi...and I am your father! :D

Ok so i have heard a bit of talk the last couple of days about this green skyline thats kicking it in good old Tassie. Anyway the way that it was last described to me it sounds a lot like the one that Jeremy had in Melbourne the last time i was talking to him.

Now the one in the pic has a 2.6 in it, as you can see a pretty wild body kit, big wheels and a big arse rear wing.

I DONT KNOW WHY BUT THIS ONE HAS BEEN CHANGED FROM 4WD TO RWD???

and all they had to dull was pull the front axle :kick: .

Anyway jedinathan looking forward to seeing the car, be it your old mans's or your. :(

That's dad's car alright! So the old owner actually converted it from 4 wheel to rear wheel?! That does NOT make sense! Atleast dad is doing the right thing and changing it BACK!

hehe the green machine!

My understanding is thats the way it was imported (alhtough could be wrong). They ripped it all out which doesn't really make sense unless they were trying to save weight or something (but its not like they had too with this car's power output) so i dont see why they didn't just remove the front axle assembly and just use as RWD drive like that.

But yeah your old man is doing the right thing as that thing is a handfull as RWD drive and i recon you will find being 4WD again it will handle alot better and be able to utilise all the power its got. :headspin:

    • Sounds like you've got an interesting adventure ahead here with local support if you have trouble! My guess is that, unboosted, you will be OK with a small upgrade like -9. What will happen is that once the stock ECU sees more airflow than it expects it will add a heap of fuel and pull a heap of timing to be safe because it can't understand how it could get that much air without there being an issue. You will see clouds of black smoke and it won't pull hard through the midrange and top end. So, overall it will be a bit frustrating but should be OK. If you are still nervous set the base timing back 2o through the CAS, but it will be even more sluggish everywhere. As said above through...this is not my guarantee your engine won't be blown into a million pieces, leaving you looking for very hard to find parts A better idea is get a computer with logging ASAP, wire in a wide band O2 sensor and a use remote tuner. I've done multiple cars this way and while it is not as good as a specific tune on a dyno they can get it 90% right. I'd suggest if you can afford an R33 GTR these days you can afford an ECU and tune. And if you can't afford that you sure won't be able to afford the rebuild if it goes bad in the meantime,.
    • Yeah it would be nice if someone took the time to put that sort of information together, but there are a lot of variations in looms. I think you are making this way hard for yourself if you just want to get it running....sourcing an SR20 with the right wiring will be a billion times easier than matching the RB loom to an S15 chassis. If you do end up going this way, you just need to trace every wire in the loom with a multimeter, 95% of them will go to a location you can confirm at the ECU.....and then post it up for the next person who needs it
    • Just top it up with water, and keep a general idea of how much you added. It is normal for water to be pushed into and pulled out of the reservoir through the cap, and it should not be more than half full or it will be likely to overflow when hot. Any decent mechanic can do a pressure test of the cooling system to confirm if you have a leak. Keep in mind if it is only leaking a little and when hot it may well evaporate before you see it hit the ground
    • I'd ask the shop what they used and use that. Mixing coolants is sometimes OK, sometimes not, and you have know the details of each coolant to know whether it's a good idea or not.
    • Is it alright to top up with just another green coolant?
