lol @ timing of this topic. News just in, what I expected with the continual downfall of the commodity price... No doubt will hit the news in the next 24hrs.

In corporate world, your job banding has a min-av-max salary. Depending on your experience, they will place you somewhere on that scale. Rule of thumb is to promote & shift you towards the middle of each band. If you are below average a promotion yields more, if you are above the promotion will be less. This prevents employees earning more than their bosses which would be a +1 job band jump.

Although I'm not sure if property investment as an individual is worth it anymore.... With all these apartments popping up funded by developers and millionaires skewed towards negative gearing I can foresee more supply than demand for rental properties.

Comes down to where you want to end up.If you are happy with owning 1 house which can be repaid working in a comfortable job I say enjoy the extra money on what makes you happy. If you are working hard within a job which is unsustainable, you would want to pay off home as much as you can so you can refinance to a more comfortable level in the future. If you want to grow your property portfolio, start saving for a deposit for the next place.

I reckon start with Excel formula's - would be a lot more useful than coding webpages. Coding in any format teaches logical step-by-step thinking. How to break an action into steps & how to deal with errors/what-if scenarios.

Wouldn't learn much; only convey the importance of Touch,Turn,Talk technique, using 'hooks' for introductions, using familiar examples, turning off powerpoint screen so focus is on the presenter, pausing for 7seconds will always get a response from audience, managing difficult questions which you don't know the answer to, group slow learners with fast learners etc.

Have been facilitating 'Train the trainer' sessions at work. Making sure that the group is following, those that read ahead aren't bored & others not falling behind. Doesn't help when everyone has email on their phones and constantly distracted.

Your first mistake is talking to a bank. Go to a mortgage broker (mortgage choice). They will run multiple scenarios based on your assets/liabilities and let you know the best one.
