  1. With highly modified cars like this and the seller says "no test drive will be done" is like saying "hey i think my car is more expensive than a ferrari. You can only look but not touch or buy". Insanity....

How is the policy as to whether or not to allow test drives anything like saying the car is more expensive than a Ferrari? There was no mention of the car being worth more than a Ferrari. I think you are making a large leap with that statement. You will find that a large portion of people selling 500hp plus cars may not just allow anyone off the street to take it for a drive. It is not necessarily because the car is worth more than a Ferrari, but there may be the potential for an inexperienced/incompetent driver to have an accident.

  2. Hi guys

I am sure there are some people on here going to F1 on Sunday. What is generally the best thing to do for parking? I will be staying in Kew.

    I had a look here:

    http://www.grandprix.com.au/docs/2013-F1-circuit-map.pdf

It says park in the 70,000 car spots in the CBD and catch the express trams. I am just wondering if given the huge number of people going to F1 if all these spots will be taken heaps early.

Most of the Wilson parking carparks tend to be quite pricey at about $55 per day.

There are car parks here that you can book in advance which look pretty cheap:

    http://www.secureparking.com.au/car-parks/australia/vic/melbourne/114-flinders-street

So can anyone from Melbourne who knows what the situation is, give me a bit of advice?

    Any help much appreciated.

  3. what if I buy a 34R from someone that is already at the meet, and I need to pick it up? can I came in an inferior car and then burn it at the gate and drive my 34R home? or do I have to organise a ride in a 34 R?

No this would be strictly against the rules. They are going to have security at this event to prevent this type of thing. You would have to buy another R34 GTR, say a week before hand, drive to the meet, supply 100 points of ID, rego papers, receipt for purchase of the car etc. You would then pick up the second R34 and then leave. You would then need to check what restrictions are in place after the event with the organisers in terms of disposing of one or both GTRs.

  4. Yes you did read it wrong, I wrote...

" some say there car is "capable" of making 500kw, but it's on 240kw, all u need to do is spend another 30k to get there but it's "capable" , this is one of those evos that have made the power it's capable of"

Some say, as in, some people selling there evos claim that there 240kw is just moments away from 500kw, and in reality it needs another mortgage to achieve this power...

Then I wrote, THIS IS ONE OF THE EVOS THAT HAS MADE THE POWER ITS CAPABLE OF

Did you still not read it right?

    attachicon.gifimage.jpg

I understand what you mean, but this was a very unclear way of saying it.

What makes it so difficult for people to understand, is you meant to write "their car", but what you actually wrote was "there car".

"There car" does not fit in the sentence, so people start wondering does he mean "their car", "the car" or "there car". If you do not use the right word it makes it difficult to decipher what you mean.

  8. Hey man, I got them done by mobile fabrications. If you can sand blast them yourself it will be $40 per wheel but they can do the blasting plus painting for $88. From the results they did on mine i think they know their shit. They even had experience with forged wheels because you could wreck them if overheated.

Im getting my Tune done by Autotech. But have also been considering taking it to ultimate tunes. ESP said Vipecs cannot do flex tune (it was a diplomatic way off saying he cant do it). Im learning towards Autotech because he has some extensive experience with Skylines. Depends what you have also and the quality of work your after.

Ah sweet mate, yeah the rims look great.

I would be interested to see what you reckon of how it runs on the flex fuel and how difficult/expensive it is to tune. Do they have to tune for 98 and E85 and then several points in between? I was not aware of tuners in Canberra that had extensive previous experience in tuning flex fuel and had not heard of anyone else from Canberra getting their skyline tuned for flex fuel. Based on that and the fact that I already had my power fc on the car, mine just runs a power fc and caltex E flex all the time. It has been that way for 6 months at 320 rwkw and I am pretty happy, but it just means if I ever want to go to wakefield or something I would have to load the car up with Jerry cans so I would have fuel to get home. So on my next round of mods I may change the ECU. So let us know how you go

  9. Hi GTscotT

Thanks for your reply. The car runs a tuneagent manifold and tial external gate.

attached is a dyno sheet. When I had it tuned the tuner was having some problems with calibrating the dyno but I can say that the car does feel quick, as in with a third gear roll on with no passengers it will light up the back tyres.

So you think that if I went to an HTA 3582r 0.82 there would be a large decrease in response over my old garrett? how much difference are we talking here?

I do not mind taking a bit of risk with the bottom end as I have another car I can drive if the engine did fail and the car actually does not spend much of its time getting driven really hard anyway.

I will have more of a look into just changing the housing. It would mean I still have to pay to get the car retuned though. So changing the housing I would be thinking maybe $850 for the housing and tuning whereas replacing the turbo to an HTA 3076 would be $2000 for the turbo plus $600 tune minus $800 for selling my old turbo = $1800. This is not really much more $$$ than I would think it would cost to change the housing. But it depends if people think the result would be much better.

I guess I was hoping that with these new technology turbos I could have it both ways with making lots more power without losing too much response.

    Thanks again for your help.

  10. Hey guys

Lots of good information in here. I have a query and any advice is much appreciated.

    I currently have the following:

    R34 RB25 neo stock internals

    GT3076r .63 housing

    1000cc id injectors

    tomei type b 260 cams

power fc running caltex e flex all the time making 320 rwkw.

The car runs 22 psi but drops down to 16 psi at the top end . I am looking at a turbo upgrade and have been reading this thread and there seems to be some great results.

now I am tossing up between the HTA 3076R .82 and the HTA 3582R .82.

Now you may say for stock internals the 3076R would be the obvious choice. However, there is certainly a possibility in the future that I will go an RB30 bottom end and I think the 3582R would certainly be better for this. I tend to like to plan things out in advance so I get the most bang for my buck and do not have to keep replacing things. So I am keeping the possible RB30 in mind when buying this turbo. The RB30 will be further down the track though.

So my question is, what is an HTA 3582R .82 housing going to be like on an internally stock RB25?

I drive this car 6 days per week, it is my daily driver but I do like to have a bit of power available. To be honest I do not mind the off boost performance of the car, I can keep up with the flow of traffic without coming on boost at all. The only time it gets frustrating is stopped at the lights before a form one lane and if you take off gently off boost stock commodores or falcons can drive past me and then sit 10 ks under the speed limit. But this is only less than 1% of the time driving.

I have been trying to gauge what the HTA 3582R is like based on videos but there are not that many for the RB25. Here is one I have found. Does not seem too laggy:

  11. With the cams I'll be running I wont be able to run VCT anyway, as for the oil pump ill probably end up with a new standard rb25 pump with a billet gearset :)

    thanks guys

Why not change the cams then, if you are only running a GT35R surely tomei type b 260s would be a good match and you can keep the VCT. I am looking into doing something similar. A few people on here seem to be getting great results from the HTA range of turbos in terms of better response and top end power compared to the standard garretts.

My RB25 Neo is running fine at the moment and I am looking at getting one of the HTA GT35Rs and putting that on and then later down the track building up an RB30 bottom end as the 35R might be a bit laggy on the standard 2.5, even being the HTA version. But from what I read the VCT is a good thing so just something to keep in mind, a lot of the guys in the RB30 conversion thread try to keep the VCT.

  12. Hey!

Including all required extensions and plugs here is what I can do:

    Set of 6x 1000cc BOSCH EV14's - $640 incl. Express delivery

    Set of 6x 2200cc BOSCH Short's - $790 incl. Express delivery

Let me know what you thing,

    Brendan

    (VM)

    Yo!

Yeah the in terms of tuning the EV14's from BOSCH are easier to work with then the 2000cc ones. In terms of drivability the 2000cc cater for serious engines builds.

Got an R34 GTT and bought some fuel injector clinic 1000cc EV14 from you and was thinking of going bigger. You have said you have 2200 injectors (bosch shorts) but they are not as easy to work with. Surely the IDs also come in 2000cc don't they?

    I am looking here http://www.injectordynamics.com/injectors.html

and they list 1300cc as well as 2000cc. Now I realise the ones you stock are not injector dynamics but if bosch make the EV14 injectors 1300cc and 2000cc would fuel injector clinic not be able to flow match these in the same way or is it just not a size that they do?

Please let me know some options.

    Thanks

  13. great result on that last dyno. Did you upgrade the injectors from the 1000ccs?

I have ID1000cc on my neo but they are at 80% duty cycle on 320 rwkw gt3076r 56t .63 housing which drops off to 16 psi at red line. I was thinking about going the hta3076r that you have and putting it at 22 psi, but seems like I would need to replace my injectors, although other people seem to get higher power readings with 1000cc so I guess it also depends on fuel pressure.

  14. so does it have rwc/rego?

What was wrong with the JIC coils to have them replaced?

I seem to remember a car very similar to this for sale for $3k not that long ago, now I can appreciate you have spent some money on it but if it is the same car then the price rise is quite substantial to say the least.

I am in ACT and am looking for a car to have some fun in so my question is, how negotiable are you on $9k?
