  1. I thought it wasn't illegal to buy one or own one but I remember hearing you weren't supposed to actually use it - well, duh !!! why would you buy it if you weren't going to use it. Mind you, if the cops can see you have one then they would wait to try and get you for something as they figure the only reason you have one is so you can speed and not get caught. Like those number plate covers that I thought were illegal too but they were advertised by an automotive retailer not so long ago Where are the best places to buy a detector?
  2. Was just wondering whether anyone has purchased one of these warranties particularly where they imported the car themselves or bought privately. Geoff Risbey at Prestige Motorsport has recommended them and it costs around $875 for 3 year warranty on any car, although you can purchase cheaper ones or for a lesser period. Details are in HPI No 25 pg 49 or their website http://www.cargear.com.au. I have been thinking of doing this once my car is complied and registered but would like others thoughts. Cheers, Al
  3. Having read this thread, it seems that BP Ultimate is possibly the way to go and given we don't have Shell Optimax here in Perth, the choice is narrow. Anyways, my question is what happens if ordinary PULP is used instead of higher octane ULP? Is it just a loss of power or can it cause engine damage?
  4. I was travelling down Hepburn Ave in Kingsley this morning when I drove past a speed camera (no photo opportunity tho) and didn't see the flouro sign - the sneaky b@stard had hidden that behind bushes as well, so you had to turn your head left just to see it. So looks like now they are not only hiding the cameras but the signs as well.
  5. Where is "Scott House"? I have seen a wine red Skyline around Colin Grove that a guy at my work owns and soon mine will be seen around there too
  6. This is getting scary as I too work in West Perth on Kings Park Road b/w Colin St and Havelock. Met Chris (boo5t) recently as his replacement car was on the same ship as mine and we saw the cars down at the wharf last week. Let's hope the little shite gets what he deserves and more Al
  7. Its their standard rate for this card. Its a no frills card, no rewards, points and crap with the cheap rate. They told me it would remain below the standard rates by b/w 4 & 5%
  8. Just been through the financing thing in purchasing my Spec II R33 (due to arrive on Saturday). As I am importing it through an agent the secured option wasn't available as they needed it to be registered so they can take the security over it. There was no mention of limits though compared to an unsecured loan where the $20K barrier exists. Most finance companies and banks will prefer a secured loan to an unsecured one for obvious reasons. I could have obtained a secured loan from BankWest but needed the car here first - not going to happen. We then got creative and I have financed my car using their Mastercard Lite product with an interest rate of 9.99%, which is less than their unsecured loan rates and no minimum number of months to pay it off. All I had to make sure was not to tell them what I was using it for. The amount of credit you will get depends on your financial position. Cheers, Al
  9. Thats a tough one although all I could suggest is trying it somewhere hidden and see what it does, the polish is supposed to use the car's own colours but the gold could be difficult Al
  10. Hi Guys and Girls - my first post finally I have been using the Turtle Wax Colour polish for a number of years when they first released it as something else - it is also really good at removing marks and small scratches although haven't tried the chip stick. I haven't actually got my Skyline yet but am waiting for it to arrive from Japan in about 2 weeks time and then to get it complied. Will be a big step up from the Celica that's for sure. This will be my first turbo car although not my first import as I used to have a Mazda 626 coupe and a Mirage in the early nineties before compliance was required. Being new to all this I suspect there will be quite a few questions, etc from me. Cheers, Al
