Keefy I aint stealing Josh he was my little toy boy to begin with. As for the insurance part of things I actually worked in insurance for a while so I know why cars are expensive and others arent. Here it is: Vehicles get graded 1-9. Grade 1 being a corolla, Grade 9 being a porsche. Now there is no general rule of thumb when it comes to grading a vehicle. There are many factors. Power, History, Availability of parts, Cost of repairs, etc all come into it. Here are some examples. Subaru WRX - Grade 9... Subaru Liberty B4 Grade 7 - This is because of history. Both are same as far as power and parts but WRX have bad history of being stolen. Skyline GTR, GTST & GTS non turbo all grade 9 because of availability of parts. Only other is non turbo and low pressure turbo (diesel) 4 door imports which are grade 5 or grade 4 if its a honda. Mitsubishi Lancer coupe. Grade 6. Because of the large amount of young people driving them. Ford XR6 and 8 both grade 8. Holden Calibra - Grade 8 because holden do not carry parts for these any longer. Toyota Corolla and Corolla Sportivo both grade 1 even though the sportivo has 41kw extra in the same car. Heres the weird one - Commodore SS Sedan grade 5, Commodore SS Ute Grade 7. The list goes on. You tell me what car ill tell u the grade withing + or - 1. I dont know how i can do it because the reasons are vast but i can. As for 4WD's I dont quite get it. They are all over the place. Toyota pretty much all Grade 1. Most Nissans grade 4. And of course the BMWs and Mercs etc grade 6.

ok the road trains doing 180 was an over exaggeration but i swear i seen semis doing in excess of 140km/h. not just on the nullabor but on the pacific hwy in nsw. perhaps this was before they bought in that stuff? aint done much country driving in the last 2 years. We agree with alot Josh. We'd make a great couple. If you were a chick and i had a decent sized penis that you wouldnt laugh at i'd root u

ok busses have a special purpose. Just like 4WD's have a special purpose but arent used for it. Busses dont account for about a quarter of vehicles on our roads like 4WD's do. And you require a special licence to drive a bus. any doosh bag can drive a 4WD. so dont try the semi trailer and bus argument because it has no validity in this discussion. Just like the "imports go fast comment". As for going 180 - Over east most rural roads are dual carriageway so there'd be alot of forrest inbetween you and oncoming traffic. Ever driven the nullabor? Road trains drive at close to 180 out there. u can see things coming seeings u can see the road hit the horizon dead in front of u. Im not saying 180 is a good idea but u asked how it would even be legal - which my answer is that in NT there are roads which have no speed limit. The other comment was to just state that if u wanna kill urself and dont hurt anyone else go for it if ur that dumb. Look you cannot get away from the fact most ppl buy 4WD's because they thing that big equals safe. This is a very dumb point of view. If you look at UK where they have safety star ratings small cars rate just aswell. Not many cars get 5 star (because they have to have top marks for padestrian impact) but i mean a Renault clio is a 4 star and a gen7 civic hatch is a 5 star. Safety is not just about protecting occupants but also about saving lives of the ppl you hit. So how does big = safe? People need to get this through their thick skulls!

yer so everyone can crowd the streets to worship him and girls can get their knickers ready to throw at him.

Camin I am merely implying u r like talking to a brick wall. And for your information I am flexing my web muscles - I am the strongest man in the world and not just some computer geek i swear! Imports are not in the same boat as 4WD's (unless they get packed that way in japan) us are saying 4WD's are suited to outback use and not urban use then your main point is imports are as bad because they are fast. This is like me saying 4WDs are ok because water is wet or the sky is blue. You can fix the fact that imports are fast by driving in the speed limits. How do you fix the fact that 4WDs are too big, have poor visibility and have dangerous impact zones. You can not fix this by driving within the speed limit. As for doing 180 in a rav4 legally, there are roads in NT that have no limit. As for it being unsafe i say if ur on a desrted road with no houses close and ur in the car by urself then the worst u can do is kill urself so whats the harm?

my favourite is when he pretends to be a driver of a quick GSR and starts worshipping himself. But then the moderators picked up on the fact it was the same IP adress. rofl nothing quite like a wanker sucking his own cock. I mean he thinks ppl hassle hime coz he doesnt drive a skyline. Hello! I drive a charade! People dont hassle me coz i dont claim its quadruple turbo, NOS kit, V8 rotary that uses a RB26 as a starter motor (I took that engine out coz it was too slow). <--- also note my Pro Rousy propaganda
-
4WD's are too big so lets argue imports are too fast. Its like just calling each other names. Lets not rule out the fact any car can go 180km/hr these days. Also the fact that 4WD's like the twin turbo porsche is actually quicker 0-100 than a standard skyline (porsche does it in 5 seconds flat). Also add to this that most 4WDs have big V8's in them that cause more polution and use more resources than any import. Having a powerful car or a quick car is not the issue. If someone in a skyline smashes into my charade at 60km/h yer fair enough ill probably be stuffed. But if a 4WD hits me im dead for sure. Therefore 4WD's are dangerous. Now if the skyline hits me at 180 then yes i'd be dead but thats not the car, its the driver. And further to the 4WD problem is the fact that so many of them have bullbars for no reason. Its not enough they have different impact zones. It just shows they'd rather kill someone than get a damaged front grill or headlight.

camin do u hold up roofs for a living?

So you are saying if a car came out standard that was only 2 cms off the ground that would be ok? People dont buy 4WD's to be an individual. They buy them to use them off road - which is great. Or they buy them because of their size/safety. They feel as if they have an accident they will be ok although they will more than likely kill the other person. This is very selfish dont you think? High performance imports dont block people's view and dont cause extra damage in accidents. They also dont account for two thirds of accidents with small children at slow speeds like 4WD's do. But yes imports do fit into normal car park spots. Stop saying its a matter of choice because it isnt. It is my choice to drive a normal car (a charade) and be safe. Not be ran off the road or killed in a accident by a car that has a higher impact zone than my car. Look 4WD's should not be banned because there is a genuine need for them. But they are getting built nowadays for the "urban jungle" where the most off road they will see is driving up a gutter to get a parking spot.
-
If you look at modified imports they are pretty much the same as hotrods back in the 30's. Engine swaps, tweaked suspension, custom paintjobs, etc are almost as old as the automobile itself. It screams individuality. 4WD's were originally developed as a war vehicle. Yes I understand there is a need for them in the public. People like Steve Irwin need to drive them. But driving them around cities is the same as if Landrover released a sherman tank for urban use (no cannons on it). Would this be ok? Ok it is illegal to have a car lowered more than 10cm to the ground. It is also illegal to raise a car by more than 2 inches. How is it that any 4WD is legal standard then?
-
import vs 4WD People buy imports because they are an enthusiast and want something that the local market cant offer. People who buy urban 4WD's buy them because they want the biggest safest thing on the road. 4WD's are usually over 2 tonne and have high CG. Tell me how this is safe? Biggest - Yes, Safest - NO! Buy a volvo if you want safe!
-
OK lets get back to the point - I will make the statement I think that about 90% of 4WD owners can not justify owning them as they never have the need to take them off road. You may argue that "It's their own choice to own them". But it is my choice to live if i get in an accident, park next to a car that fits in a carspot, drive in a lane next to a car that fits in their lane, not have my vision blocked by some bulky vehicle and when I have kids not have them killed by someone that has poor visability out of their tank. Now this outweighs their right to pick a car that could easily be substituted with a people mover or crossover vehicle. I think in years to come people will look back at the era of 4WD for urban use as something that was very pointless and a waste of time/money.

Dsturbd: Besides u got an xtrail. Not like thats a massive 4WD anyway. Altho I think small 4WD's are ugly I have not many problems with them. I'd drive a Forester GT if someone offered it to me. The problem is with the Prados, Landcruisers, Discovery's, Pathfinders, X5's, F series Fords, Territories (especially 2WD ones coz they are designed to never go off road), etc. Stop getting all defensive, I've driven a Xtrail and altho being appauled by the handling and performance I must admit it was much like driving a sedan as far as visibility and ease of parking. I think your wife would be safer in a large sedan but thats up to u. My misses drives a 2003 corolla with dual airbags and im happy with that. I drive a charade so if i smash into anything at 60 unless its i hyundai im in trouble. If we have kids ill get her something bigger or safer (- like a german car).

I seen it on a documentary on discovery channel. While they were interviewing someone on the side of the road they heard tyres skidding and panned the camera around and seen a 4WD laying on its roof from being t-boned. Do the math - high centre of gravity - Rolls over easier. 4WD manufacturers even have instructional videos etc about how people should avoid accidents in 4WD instead of swerving suddenly. Like ur gunna follow their instructions with ur reflexes anyway.
-
As for the pedestrian argument. I think if you hit a small child in either a car or a 4WD they are pretty much gone because even with a car it takes their legs out and their head smashes on the bonnet. The argument is that 4WD's kill more children because of poor visability in low speed accidents (carparks/driveways/etc.) If you hit someone at 90km/h they dead no matter what you're driving.

4WD'S ARE NOT SAFE! I Don't know how people have these thoughts! In America (where SUV's make up one third of all cars on the road) The number one cause of fatalities on the road is "SUV Rollover". Either from being T-boned or losing control of the vehicle. Dsturbd - Put into terms of your family, If they get T-boned they are more likely to be injured as chances are this will flip the car. And having only the side of your car crushed is better than having the roof caved in also! If you want your family safe I agree that the bigger the car the safer it is. But it needs to have a decent center of gravity. 4WD's sit to high and once they get out sideways they flip over. Now If your wife was in a big maxima, camry or even falcadore with side airbags they would stand the most chance of avoiding injury.

I dont give two hoots if Scruby is the head of a satanic cult who sacraficies cute little baby animals and baths in their blood. Anyone who hates 4WD's is a friend of mine. Altho the C4 sounds like a good outcome for the old geezer.

Oh i get it now, had a bimbo moment. The coloured panel goes over the top! Only took a few minutes. Yer these would look cool! 400 bucks is a bit steep tho. I'd prefer a FMC or some other mod.
-
just found these on ebay too so im guessing theres more options out there. Anyone seen them or got pics of them on an actual line?
-
Came across these while "surfin the net" and thought they might be of interest to some people. Up until now I thought they only exsisted on NFS Underground. Wouldnt look bad on the right car either. Found them on http://www.autojoy.com.au if anyone is interested in them. May be able to get them other places too.

ROFL yer the 4 door does sorta suck ass. 2 door looks good but its not really a skyline, more like a 350Z that was dropped a bit when it was a baby.

I couldnt get to put my bets in. I was gunna put 4 horses in for a box trifecta and none of them finished in the top 3. So I actually won money because if I had've placed the bet I would've lost.
