  1. what about a "magic performance" cat. i'm considering getting one of them! zoom loves them. bout $500-ish from memory d
  2. i always wanted a lancia delta integrale... love that brick! i positively despise australian-built cars and prehistoric pushrods. if it HAD to be aussy i'd take a giacottolo and put a 1uz-fe w/2x turbos in it just to piss everyone off. d
  3. hmm... anyone confirm if this is right? i'm definately making SOME boost... my guess is around 4-5psi. i'll confirm that when i get the factory/aftermarket boost guage doing its thing. but both lines to the solenoid have just been plugged and the wire/header for the solenoid disconnected. smells a bit like fish to me, but then again, the japanese are a funny lot! d
  4. overkill??? just make sure they know... thats all. they don't have to come and participate or babysit (but no issues if they do)... just let them know. d
  5. hey where does this factory boost sender pipe supposedly lead to? mine's not going to anything and a dig around the plenum isn't finding me much... or am i looking in the wrong places?? i can find plenty of vacuum lines... just don't know where that factory one leads... where's the best place to run a vacuum hose through the firewall for an aftermarket guage? i ahven't looked yet, but planning on fitting the one i've got lying around in the next few days... cheers d
  6. hey peeps. i've just recently picked-up a 32gtr and i'm loving it.. but gotta sort out a few niggling problems. the factory boost solenoid has no vacuum lines going to and from it. the car feels a little sluggish, so i'm expecting low boostage as one of the causes. can someone tell me what the stock wastegate springs in a 32 open up at? i'm fitting a boost guage to help me out here, but want to get to the route of the problem. anyone see these solenoids "unplugged" in other fresh imported jobs? can i assume then, that the previous japanese owner had some sort of elec or pneumatic tap in there and removed it before movinng the car along? cheers david
  7. g'day g'day peeps. my factory boost guage in my 32 gtr isn't working. can someone tell me if the sender is the little black box mounted to the firewall up high on the drivers side... ? and if so, where does the vaccuum line usually lead to for it... ?? .....or am i way off? where are people usually t-piecing their vaccuum hoses for aftermarket boost guages in these cars. cheers david
  8. heh yeah i expected a few little dramas... but its cool. fixing them and personalising your car is half the fun! yeah considering getting the rims powdercoated in a shaddow chrome-ish sort of colour. i think white would be a bit full-on on such a blue car!... but we'll see. first things first! d
  9. yeah pencil me in too. i'll get you some confirmation closer to then, but i'll conscript some more troops at any rate. got a few mates in lines/scoobies et al.... any excuse for a cruise! d
  10. heh well it might just be. you didn't call the guy and ask to put a deposit on it only to find out the new owner was gonna take delivery that same day did you??? its a very very very blue gtr. i've checked over it a little more thoroughly now and i've found a few bits and pieces that will need rectifying though... left low beam likes to decide when it shines and when it doesnt and the frustrating "auto passender door lock" thing is even more crap cos it also decides when it wants to do its thing. i just hope i won't have to rewire the thing! the factory boost solenoid has no vaccuum lines going into it so i'm led to believe its prolly running 4-5psi... its not as quick as i hoped, having poked it around a bit over the last few days... still nothing that a boost bleed or electronic controller wont fix... but its in a good state of health other than that. its been driven hard, but feels like its been maintained with a bit of mechanical sympathy. compression test came up all good. i gave it a few new filters and a fresh sump of mobile synthetic gold stuff today and its running much smoother now. interestingly, its got 300zx airflow meters and a little sticker behind the kick indicating its probably been retuned (its all in jap apart from a date... '97) i'll keep yo all posted as to how she goes at any rate. i hope to meet you all soon! d
  11. hey marty. how's things. shoot me a pm next time you're planning a trip down here. i thought you stayed in syd for the best part of it! d
  12. man you've got some great installer joints down there in vic! GL pro sound... autobahn airport west... freeway car audio... stylyn car audio... you should try living in canberra! *sigh* a few people here that i'd never take my car to! d
  13. g'day g'day all just a quick hello to all you canberra liners! i've my backside in nick (godzillr)'s blue 89 gtr now (well... its mine now! hehe) so its about time i became an active sauact member! i met a few of you guys last thursday in braddon for the cruise action etc. had a good ole' chat. anyway, no doubt i'll start seeing some more of you all now i have another line to get around in! cheers! david
  14. both head unit and amplifier are now sold and on the way to the prospective new owners. thanks for the interest! cheers david
  15. hey mate. i've shot you a sms... head unit is sold pending payment. amp still up for grabs. and yes i'm negotiable... cheers david
  16. lol. i challenge you to dig-up the roughest, knarliest and hardest drum and bass or hip-hop or dancie/trancie stuff and say my dyn's don't mix it with the best out there! i'm still in shock at how hard the dyns can slap you across the face when the music calls for it! d
  17. hehe... well theres plenty more where they came from. lol should've seen me with the digi.... snapped like 40shots... d
  18. g'day peeps. as some of you may know, i pranged my car the other week, so i've got some stuff that's gotta go. i need the cash and i don't have a car to put my bits in, at the moment anyway. for sale is: 1x Phoenix Gold XS6600 6-channel amplifier * 4x50watts RMS + 2x150w into 4ohm RMS * bridges 2x180watts and 1x300 again, all RMS * is 2ohm BRIDGED/1ohm stereo stable * TAIM muting (eliminates on/off pops) * hi and low level inputs * completely configurable 24db/octave hi/lowpass filters * any frequency between 20hz and 20khz can be selected by using variable "rnets" or resistor networks. factory module set at 90hz. * variable bass boost (0 to +12db) at 45hz * >100db signal:noise to any avid phoenix-philes, the xs is highly regarded. while it hasn't been sold for a while, its an amazing amplifier. i'd put it up against much MUCH pricier competition. its typical phoenix in build and the sound is just sublime. this amp would be a worth contender for a really nice "one amp" system. will drive pretty much anything with ease (its a very underrated amp). would eat other 3/5/6chans out there with ease. forget all about your audison srx3 and the like... this is the shiznit! it was wired-up in my car and loved for about 1/2 a day, then pulled out while i finished my amp rack. i pranged my car before i could fit it, so its practically brand new. unit is spotless. 100% condition. no marks or blemishes. see pics below. comes with box, packaging, neat little mounting feet, manuals and all original bits and pieces. retailed at $1699 negotiable $800ono 1x Eclipse CD8061 and Balanced Line Adaptor * 8volt pre-outs (16v balanced out)... and this is NOT a fictional output. its pre-outs are AMAZING! * front, rear and sub outputs. * external dc-dc converter * 73db stereo separation * 100db signal:noise * 55ohm output impedance for great noise rejection * motorised front panel * vaccuum flourescent display panel * NOB control and NOB remote * aux input (for mp3/dvd/tv etc...) * AES/EBU digital output what is left to be said about this awesome deck!?! sound and image magazine rated it headunit of the year. its taken out HEEEAPS of awards all over the globe for its sublime build and sound. it has seen little use since i took ownership a few month ago. it has been a great unit. very smooth sounding and it posesses extreme detail (perhaps thanks in part to the high-volt pre-outs). this headie represents a great buy for anyone wanting a fantastic frontend to a system. its SQ is amazing and would gobble up any pioneer/alpine/jvc/kenwoot/clarion under $2k if put head to head. the unit is in very good condition (only a few superficial marks on the face). pics attached (although the marks didn't come out properly.. prolly cos they're so small). unit includes the main unit and face bezel/surround. a brand new, non-butchered wiring loom. remote. manual on cd and brand new, never used, matching Balanced Line Adaptor. see pics. retail was: $1999 negotiable $700ono and.... PICS! if you want higher res images, PM me with your email and i'll forward them on. cheers. david.
  19. why do you want 6x9's? i feel that you'll get far better sound out of other forms of speakers. the whole design of 6x9's is a compromise imo. d
  20. yeah i'm with marty on that one. stick your tweets all over the place. kickpannels are renowned (in most cars) to be the most popular because it helps your imaging and staging. kickpannel mounting is great because it equalises the distance between tweet-to-ear as close as possible. you'll find that kickpannel mounting gives the tweets similar distances on both passenger and driver side (if that makes sense). vance dickason's loudspeaker design cookbook talks about this in-depth.... and no, you don't necessarily need to have your tweets a handspan from your mids. i've heard cars that have tweets in the kicks and mids just infront of the chairs on the floor and that car sounded amazing (the best i've heard to date, actually....) d
  21. hey marty! dynaudio image dynamics, morel, diamond and boston follow somewhere behind.... focals sound funny d
  22. looks the goods mate. the 33 boot is a pain to house all your stez gear cos its so damn small. i'm STILL trying to figure out how to make a 33 boot really showy and retain drivability... d
  23. hey mate yeah ecu is behind your passenger kick. hicas is below your parcel shelf (and atessa computer too if its an R). methinks a speed cut defender somewhere along the line... but (and can anyone confirm this!?) it could be a reprogrammed ecu like a mines or something. d
  24. yeah i'm not attesting to being the worlds best driver. nor a d1 competitor! but i've had the tail out without losing it heaps of times before - off public roads.. NATURALLY teehee... however, presented with a "surprise" moment, you'd have to have freakishly good reflexes, mental control and knowledge of your car's handling characteristics to save yourself. its all over reeeaaal quick. clearly, my accident happened because i over-corrected SOOOO slightly, but on the soppy roads we had and 50ish k, i quickly found it all over! i'm thanking myself for the advanced/defensive courses i've done and the guidance i've received from a few serious racers/pros though. many people panic in situations like mine, resulting in the mashing of all pedals below your feet/letting go of steering wheel and screaming/not opposite locking or properly "emergency braking". my little biff could've been a hell of a lot worse. i know "expert training" doesn't guarantee no crashes, only what to do if you start to go up the creek, but i've no douby it helped me greatly. the just cars/aami truck will pick her up tomorrow. we'll soon see how much damage i've created. i had a much more thorough look today and it isn't really THAT serious. some suspension damage to one wheel is the only pita. i just hope i haven't bent the chassis/subframe cos the prick'll prolly be a rite-off then! we'll see. d
