  1. I was told by stao (hypergear) that he could run an actuator in my exhaust system that opens and closes with different boost levels like that varex one which I hadn't heard of before, would that be an alright idea? Because then im guessing he could have it set to open just before boost. And I have been told 220 wasn't too adventurous in the way of power so thanks for the replies, didnt realise it would be that little to do, wont be able to go much harder with stock injectors and fuek pump later on im guessing
  2. I was also considering the varex muffler or just try and get a good.high flowing exhaust but nit get small mufflers if that makes.sense
  3. Yea I have been told there are some good aftermarket side mount coolers. I have a high flow turbo in my car now but not.pushing it at all, so realky just babying it. I hadn't really conaidered the age of things yet, makes sense to uograde where you can. Thanks
  4. Just a quick question about how stock is it possible to leave your car when aiming for higher kw? Im hoping to get around the 220 mark buy just wondering if theres any mods like injectors and fuel pump and things like that I can actually leave stock and just get tuned to go harder? Are all the mods 100% necessary? Or is it unsafe to try and max out stock parts?
  5. Yea would be a fair bit of cutting. But I'll probably buy a snorkel and give it a shot soon. Kinda stock but really shiny
  6. Thanks. And no im not because I didn't have an airbox to begin with which I ls why I made this. Will buy a snorkel soon tho and try fit it in
  7. Alright so the airbox is done. Only took a couple of hours as you'd expect. And as usual the only things I used were -heat gun -$50 of plastic or acrylic from bunnings -side cutters (clean cuts on warm plastic) -right angle brackets from bunnings -some nuts and bolts I already had in the garage. Hooe you like my version of the d.i.y airbox
  8. Im very new to this engine as well. Which parts the carbon cannister?
  9. Yea I've seen a few already but just figured I'll put another out there. If you can get them for $30 sell them to aus haha. Brand bew from nissan (trade price) $500 the rest I've found were around $300
  10. Hi all, just letting you all know im in the process of making an airbox for my c34 as genuine nissan airbox is basically a mortgage and custom fabrication is harf to find. So far I just have a template made out of cardboard and will make it properly out of some plain black heat reaistant plastic. When I go out and buy things I will put them up in here and let you know how I went about making the final product. These photos are what im planning on making the final product look like so any thing you see wrong or needs improvement please let me know. All critisism welcome haha. Cheers
  11. Im in northern suburbs but only 15 minutes from cbd. Dont mind driving out to other places tho
  12. Hi all, just did a quick search (looking for opinions) of tuners around and couldn't find any threads giving me good ideas. Basicalky im hoping people can help me out with good tuners around melbourne area and some reasons why they're good or even places to avoid. Hoping to get into contact with some in the next couple of days just to help me with my kw goal (220). Just going into this blind as I've had no experience with tuning before and really any feedback will help. Cheers
  13. Hi all, I saw an event on facebook for a car meet at the maryborough aerodrome and I think it's a day of drags and burnouts at the end of the month but I havent been abke to find any more info about it other than the fact it's at the aerodrome. Just wondering if anybody else has seen or heard anything more about this that could enlighten me and anybody else who's interested about what the event actually is? Sorry if this doesnt make a lot of sense Cheers
  14. Ok yea I thought it was that one. I was considering turning it but thought I'd break it haha. Thanks for that
  15. Is the cam breather the short fat hose near the front of the motor?
  16. Yea ut was pretty frustrating. Considering cutting the plate in 2 so it still covers it and looks neat but will make it easier to.do next time
  17. Damn haha. Have the spark plugs done. Only broke 1 vacuum line I was afraid that was the only way
  18. This might be a stupid thread to start but im trying to change the spark plugs on my rb25 and there is just too much stuff im seeing that I have to take off. Just want to know if anybody has any tips when woriing on these motors. Or if there is an easy way to change spark plugs. Please keep sarcasm to a minimum please Cheers
  19. Ok sweet as thanks for clearing that up. Will have to do some Google searches haha
  20. Thats weird. Someone put up a thread about their smic swap to a gtr one. Might not have been gtr but it was a bigger smic than the standard gtt and it was a genuine nissan part
  21. Yea it's a series 2 with the standard side mount cooler. Saw a thread about fitting a gtr side mount for better xooking and a stock look as well and was thinking of doing that upgrade. Would a gtr fuel pump be alright? Or should I go aftermarket like I will with injectors? Didnt even think about trans oil coolers yet as im aiming for relatively low key power just so I can keep it as a daily without getting harrassed too much
  22. Hey people I have recently been posting a few threads needing help with my rb25 trying to find a cause of my problems with bad idle and smoke. As a lot of people said it was my intercooler pipe that was just blown off. So i just want to say thanks to everyone here for the help and advice on what to do so I have it back together now with a highflowed turbo but no supporting mods. So I just want to know if im going the right way with this afyer reading a few threads I belive the best thing to do for a few extra wasps and to safely run the turbo at higher boost will be, ~ 550cc injector upgrade ~greddy ecu (cant remember specific product) ~3" turbo back exhaust Will I need a bigger intercooler? Still a p plater so I can't go front mount And of course get it a good dyno tune. Unless I missed anything that is what im planning on getting done. Does that seem like an alright path to go down? Not looking for crazy power either. Any help is aporeciated. And thank you again to the people of SAU
  23. i thought they were brass, my bad haha, i have the bolt done up really tight and a washer on either side of the coolant line. i'll see if heating it up does anything, thanks i was basically hoping somebody had had something similar and could just tell me if it's just a common mistake that happens or problem with the lines themselves
  24. That's meant to say "my" not "k5y" sorry about that. Been a.long week
  25. Hi there, I have just finished fitting my new high flowed turbo to my car and assembled everything and started putting coolant in the car and after about a litre or so it started pissing out of the coolant line that connects to the turbo, I didnt replace the brass washers as they seemed to be in pretty good condition, could that be where I went wrong? Basically im hoping someone will be abke to give me possible easy fixes or just point out something that I dont know when re fitting turbos.
