  1. So my monitor arrived yesterday. Fitted into the Navi frame Trial fitup Finished For now its only hooked up to the reversing camera. If I can find a way to output the satnav to one of the video outputs i will be doing that also. Somehow I dont think its possible to replicate the main screen except for video output unless I can hack into the windows CE that drives the unit if that is at all possible.

  3. I reckon it would be easiest to just splice into the audio. Your installing the controller in the din pocket anyway and the less wiring you have to run the better imho. I used to install mobile phone kits for a living in a past life and it was always an easy convenient source for constant accessory and earth. Not to mention a good place to mount the control box as well. The only thing I would check before you do is the current draw of the EDFC to make sure you aren't going to overload those circuits otherwise take +ive and acc directly from the ignition switch and fuse accordingly.
  4. Thanks Chris. Like probably so many others my whole system was shot. The screen would only open when it felt like it. The dvd/camera screen I have coming is self contained and my plan is to use the mechanism and original screen frame to mount it into if you follow me. Most people probably wouldnt bother and would either fit up the later system or the gauge pod in its place. Me I am a tinkerer and this is more for myself than anything else but I thought I would post it up in case it was useful to someone else as well.
  5. My dvd screen has been ordered and when I get it I will post up some more pictures of my project. Chris you posted up some pic ages ago of the board but I npw cant find them. At least not without trawling through a whole pile of old posts :-)
  6. Ok finally the picture of the board and the relay to operate the screen. Although I have used a micro relay to do this you can use a standard changeover relay and mount it elsewhere. Closeup of micro relay. I ratted an old remote central locking module I had laying around.
  7. I do have some pictures of the circuit board mods but cant upload for some reason. Keep getting an Error 403 msg????????
  8. For those of you who have the Pop Up xanavi screen still in place and have wondered if it can be put to some use. (Other than a paperweight or door stop) Have just reconfigured mine as follows. Firstly we need to remove the mechanism from the dash. 1. Remove centre air vents 2. Remove the two screws retaining the cover and pop it up and remove it. 3. Remove the four screws holding the mechanism in place and the two wiring plugs at the rear. Now the next step is to make the screen raise and lower when needed. Remove the cover from the circuit board where the loom plugs into. You are looking for M- and M+ which are on your left hand side. These two are the motor up/down control points. Carefully solder two wires to these points ( ordinary thin type speaker wire is fine for this as the current draw to raise and lower the screen is not high.) Apply 12v to them as below. M- Screen Up M+ Screen Down Frame to earth. To get the screen to go up and down as required we need to put a changeover relay in the circuit as follows Pin 30 Acc + Pin87 M+ Pin 87a M- Pin 85 Will depend on what you want to use the screen for. I am mounting a 5" TFT LCD Screen in the gutted out frame and will be using the feed from the reversing camera. Into reverse the screen pops up out of reverse the screen goes down. My unit has limit switches on both up and down so that the screen stops at the correct place. Am presuming they are all the same. Other uses could be sat/nav or an aux screen from a double din H/U
  9. Mine is a factory nissan accessory item. Read on another post that someone used a jaycar module for auto window rollup to do the same thing.
  10. My R34 And with its stablemate
  11. H/U was bought for my Prado but never fitted it. Has Aus GPS reversing camera etc etc. Camera mounted in rear panel Put a roof mount antenna in as well. Maybe not to everyones taste but defo works.
  12. Just thought I would post up a couple of pics of the install I did today. Bought the car with the xanavi system still in situ except for a Sony HU in place of the original radio cassette. Mind you no antenna hooked up at all so a two hour drive from where I bought it to home was to say the least boringly quiet. Most of you know the procedure to fit a HU in where the old one came from. ie: Large a/c facia and double din surround. This might help someone who has a double din HU but not the other bits required. Surround template made out of black cardboard All I have done with the A/C control is put it where the Navi unit was and space it out as even as I could then mounted the HU drilling a couple of new holes where necessary. Not perfect but it will do till I can afford the A/C Fascia brackets and faceplate.
  13. Lucky down here. My local shopping mall has rather generous size bays. Mind you we have our share of idiots who dont know how to park as well.
  14. Sorted. Thanks Chris. you were right in that they take their power and signal from the keyless entry module. Power from pin three and signal from pin six. At first there was nothing. Had the switch on the door in the neutral position thinking that the module overrode the switch function. Wrong it has to be switched to the out position to work. A bit of buggerising around but is now working. Hit the lock key on my remote and the mirrors swing in. Turn the ignition on and they swing out. Cool little feature with no real use here except for the novelty factor I guess.
  15. Thanks Chris. My mirror unit has only three B+ Earth & Sig as well as the leads for the mirror switch. Guess I am gonna have to play around a little.
  16. Am in victoria. Have the genuine module just got to get it to work if it aint buggered that is.
  17. Am in the process of removing a cheap crappy alarm fitted to my R34 4 door and replacing it with a better one. Found the trigger points for the passenger doors ok and figured out how to trigger drivers door. On removing drivers door trim to check wiring i found this box wired into the mirror switch. From some research I believe it to be the module for the auto swing away mirrors. It had been disconnected but I would love to see if I could reinstate it. One side goes to the mirror switch and is plug and play. The other three wires however have me guessing. I split the box and they are marked on the circuit board as follows. B+ (Straight 12v or Acc/On ?) Earth (Obvious) Sig (Trigger wire possibly?) Its the signal wire that has me stumped. Am presuming that it was connected to the dealer/factory remote central locking to which I didnt get a remote for and was activated when you locked the doors either by key or remote. Anyone got any ideas?
  18. Thanks Luke. Yes it is just what I wanted. I could have had a boring Falcodore like a lot of blokes my age but opted for this. Extremely happy with it too. My eldest boy has an R33 GT-R twin scroller. Too much for me hahahaha.
  19. Hello everyone. My names Neil from Morwell. Just acquired my first Skyline. And no its not turbo its N/A. Why? Because at my age I dont need to blitz everyone anymore. Hope to have some good times with all of you.
