Tyre size recommendation for R34GTT?
hoo@h replied to Bill's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
my r34 gtt has been lowered. So a 245/45/17 for the rear will be no good? maybe a set's of 235/45/17 will be a better fit? -
taken from HKS japan site, might be interesting for some. * The ball bearing which is adopted for shaft support:It decreases the friction, contributes to response rise. * New development compressor wheel:Until recently, it is not and actualizing the compressor efficiency which is superior. Decrease of efficiency showing power little even at the time of high boost. * New development turbine wheel:Low to be superior in operation characteristic vis-a-vis wide-ranging gas flow rate from the rotary limits to the high rotary limits, energy of the exhaust without wastefulness collection. * Exhaust housing of HKS original design processing Circular section scroll form of advanced design. High efficiency it raises the flux of the exhaust with the microminiature housing and actualizing response rise. Large aperture tapered preventing wasteful anti- pressure rise with turbine exit form of condition. perhaps, HKS get their turbo parts from Garrett and improve on it by their own design or it could just all be a maketing gimmick.

I think I am gonna get 1 for my r34 GTT. Just a quick question tho. where does it actually sucks up the air? from all the pictures I seem of the unit, they got no intake piping, so does that mean it still sucking up air from within the engine bay, therefore not really a "cold" air induction box?
-
Hi Does any1 use the ARC induction box? just wondering if they any good compare to the your common apexi/ HKS...... pod filters.
-
so by installing just a FMIC = power gain, therefore no lag? or do you also need to up the boost which develope a bit more extra power? how much extra boost can the stock r34 turbo handle? stock setting at 7psi?
-
kewl. nice to know that there's no noticable throttle lag from a few different people. now there's no more need for the trust stock mount cooler option, i can just decide which FMIC to go for. I am a sucker for brand name.... so I will be checking out either the HKS s type or the Trust V-SPL. any experience with either brand? By the way, my car is a auto GTT, so not sure if HKS cooler will work. On GREENLINE web site it say "not suitable for auto", any ideas?
-
Hi if changing from a stock side mount cooler to a front mount but return to stock pipe. Is there any noticable throttle lag becasue of the longer piping compare to stock? front mount for better cooling more option for future upgrade, or a Trust R-SPL type 13 stock mount, for no lag compare to stock?
-
Hi Greenline have special on those trust intercoolers till 31/8. which is only a few days away.... been lurking around the forum. I record rev21 metion something about slower response time from a FMIC, because longer route to the engine. I am deciding between the R-SPL stock mount or the R-SPL HG FM for my R34 GTT. Which route should I go? I will be running stock turbo for a while and I'm aiming for around 200 - 220 rwkw after a few other bits n piece(EBS n emanage.. etc).

help! Bumpy ride in r34.
hoo@h replied to hoo@h's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
i should define bumpy ride better. When driving around bad surfaced road, it feels like riding on a bus, it's harsh, kinda given you a headach after a long drive. the car has been lowered when i picked it up from the car yard, its stting at 340mm front n 350mm back. I wonder if installing a gas shock eg. bilstein set will improve the ride quality? -
Hi. Where is a good workshop for shocks checkup n reconditioning in Brisbane? even better if they open on Saturday.
-
What’s the major player in unpleasant bumpy ride in r34 GTT over rough road surface/train track? Spring rate(better srping)? Shocks need replacement or upgrade(thinking of getting a set of bilstein) or perhaps different tire selection(current: factory Nissan 17” on Bridgestone 45 profile). On the shocks note. what’s the ride quality like with a set of bilstein shocks compare to stock r34? And where to get it done in Brisbane plus how much?

New bilstein/Kings setup: review
hoo@h replied to SLY33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
are bilstein shocks better at absorbing bumps n lumps on the road compare to stock r34 gtt shocks? how much for a set and where to get it done in Brisbane? -
Thanks Neo, looks like I can just follow your step and get that power figure i am looking for. And, yes, I have got that HPI mag with the power figure n what mods are required, but just need to be sure that same mod apply to auto. I guess I just want to know any other fellow auto r34 owner have achieved the result (200 rwkw) with a proven n reliable package. then I can just cut n paste it into me car. by the way, I am in brissy, so if any1 know any good shop here that can do the sort of mod, please let me know. ta.
-
ok. so greddy emanage seem to be a good option. I will look into that. thanx guys. but what about stock R34 turbo n IC? Can they stand the daily grind of 200 rwkw or adding a FMIC and a hi flow/ new turbo(HKS 2530) are a more reliable option?
-
Hi guys. Need some suggestion, new to turbo car. Got a r34 gtt automatic, all it got now it's a Nismo exhaust, is it possible to get around 200 rwkw out of an auto? If so, which FMIC ( prefer straight bolt on kit), saw on Greenline website that HKS kit is not suitable for auto? fuel/air management, EBC and would a hi flow or new turbo required at the desired power output? I guess I would like to have a overall package that will produce good response with big more power than stock.
-
I see. so the R-spl come in side mount as well as front mount. so what's the power rating(dunno the proper term, first time turbo car owner) for the side mount R-spl n the stock r34 gtt side mount IC? just want to know if it's worth the upgrade
-
what's the response time like on the turbo upgrade compare to the factory ceramic and the HKS 2530(seem to be popular)?
-
hmm. I thought R-SPL is the side mount IC that fit in the factory spot in the R34, n the V-SPL is the FMIC. IS there any significant gain/benefit for replacing the factory r34 side mount cooler to the Trust R-SPL side mount? (with factory turbo)
-
Hi where everyone source they new parts for their skyline, ie. hks FMIC kit etc etc.... I record reading on these forum about NEUGUN or something, what's the web site and is there any other good place ppl purchase their parts from besides neugun? Thanx
-
ok. been searching around the forum about intercooler for gtt n there's tons of stuff about it which is awsome. now, if I am thinging of keeping the R34 factory turbo (for a WHILE at least) but I would like to increase the boost a bit say to .8 or .9 bar max (what's factory standard boost on R34? something like .5?), whould the stock intercooler handle the boost level without streesing out the turbo and engine or a aftermarket intercooler is recommanded. the summer temp. in brissy gets pretty hot these days....
-
Thanx for all the replay. I think I like franks hks intercooler kit the best so far. Yeah, personally I think it's worth spending that extra few hundred dollars to get a kit that will fit straight into the GTT pipe work, so no extra cutting or custom constrcution require, which make it neater under the bonnet. I am not looking for massive power upgrade just something that will improve from the stock intercooler. one question to franks. Did you get the car dynoed after the FMIC installed? did it improve the perfoamance down low to mid range or mainly on the top end? n what's the hks kit you got? n where from? s-type or r-type?

Aftermarket Intercooler using Standard piping
hoo@h replied to SeriesIIGTST's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
so with a FMIC, u will really only see power gain at high rpm compare to a stock intercooler? does that mean if i have no intention of doing any track work, there's really no point spending that 1k -2k on a FMIC? -
to put a gtr intercooler in gtt. That would mean I will need custom made piping to go with it. it that right? I am sort of prefer having a intercooler kit that came with the bolt on pipe, just so there's no welding between bent pipes and stuff.
-
I am looking at the hks stype kit or the blitz v spec lm they are around similar price, just want to know if any1 have used either one of them. which one is better, performance, mounting neatness and how much modification required for each kit ( eg. front bumper cutting. etc etc)
