  1. You wont believe this or if you can please help. I was driving back from the coast last week and had my aircon on. I was travelling down a motor way at about 110km and began to deaccelerate by taking my foot of the accelerator, as I took my foot off the car just started to launch with the revs going all the way to the red line. I put the brake on and eventually it went back to normal after a few seconds. Next On Sat night I was dropping off a friend, I came to a complete stop still in gear (air con wasn't on) then it happened again, it accelerated to red line, by it's self. I put my foot under the accelerator to make sure it wasn't stuck (it wasn't), it kept on reving high and blowing the valve, it was funny in a freaky way. It happened several times after that. I drove it yesterday, checked the cable ect all seems ok. I have dropped it at a mechanic to take a look at. Phewww. Anyway solved my fuel problem, changed O2 sensor, drove it on a highway, drove like it was a camry and got a good return of 12lt per 100km. Done!
  2. That is horrid, 250-300 km (once I got 350 and that was low revs all the way). Do you have any idea how painful it is to drive for soo long without a decent squirt? thats what I get. I will not go into it because I have gone through all the threads on fuel consumption and the only thing I got out of it was O2 sensor, done that. Filled in 20 litres and got a return of 117km. Anybody with experience in solving this problem please send me a PM. I am on the verge in investing in a tune, but what can that achieve?? It's a standard computer. I have put off increasing boost because I want to fix this problem, and I reckon it's not fair that a lot of you get 450-500 km with mods!
  3. Hi guy's Just want to know what the popping sound might be that seems to come from the exhaust when I deaccelerate?? Also I replaced my O2 sensor and my fuel consumption is still horrid.
  4. Some time ago I complained about how I used cheap wax and my Black skyline looked crappy. I since spent $85 at Supre Cheap and bought some "Mothers" polish and seal, and some Carabu.. wax and done a three phase detail. This price also included a $40 orbitor. You should see the shine now, you got to wear sunglasses at night when you look at it. I hope the attachment has worked. It took me about three and a half hours on Sunday to do it. I cant attach and paste a picture of it.........Damn!
  5. I never heard this shit before. Anyway another question, I grew up in Melbourne and have been living Brisbane for last three years. I reckon there are more skylines between Bribane and the gold coast then anywhere in Australia. What do you reckon or is it that I only see what I am interested in?
  6. It's the Tornado Fuel Saver, which promises to increase power by about 10 hp and save fuel for up to 28% It is a device that you fit between the airflow pipe and the manifold intake. It blows incomming air into the manifold in a tornado motion. I'll try and provide the link http://www.myauto.tv/tornado/?referal=79920995. is this some Yankee gimic?
  7. Yea I know, I couldn't be fu**ed soldering, because I dont have one. Anyway I understood the reset to be disconnecting battery, tapping on brake a few times and then reconnecting it again. I am a bit hesitant to take it to him for a "tune" he wouldn't elaborate when I asked him exactly what it was that he was going to do. I am sceptical about this as I haven't heard it mentioned on this site.
  8. Rob, I am also first Australian owner, I have had mine for under 2 months. What I find out is when my car was complied they failed to replace the petrol neck where the cap goes. I have no idea why Australian compliance rules have this, so I took it back and they replaced it for free. I was told that this might be a fuel evaporation problem. Anyway mine is a 93 R33. I bought it with 54k, somehow I think it should be more because of the state of the steering wheel. Anyway the mechanic did say that the computer couldn't handle modifications like BOV ect. I even asked about boost increase and he said the only way to do that is to spend $800 on some computer thingy. Anyway to increase it mechanically with T piece ect would not work well with comp. I assume that all of you have done it mechanically? So the answer might be that these mods effect computer which effects petrol consumption??? I will see how well it goes with O2 sensor. My guess is that I will never get 500km because I have exhaust system and BOV.
  9. OK, so i took my car to some brisbane mechanic who builds race cars and I saw he had several skylines in his work shop. I told him what I had done so far, Probe test, a diagnostics check, reset computer, replaced fuel neck. I told him somes guys on the internet reckon it's the o2 sensor, I said what do you think. He says it could be a hundred things you'll have to bring it in. Grumpy bastard. So I did and he told me it took him four years to become a mechanic. He recons were all smart asses getting info of internet. Anyway he pulled out an electrical tester and told me the O2 sensor is had it. Thank you I was greatful for that. He said that I would then have to bring it for a tune, I said what sort of tune, he said a full tune will cost you $280. I said what would a half cost he said $180. I said just reset the computer, he said it's not a matter of disconnecting the battery then conecting it. So I have gone and ordered an O2 sensor from nissan, cost me $170. The moral of this story??????? : :headspin: :Bang:
  10. See Cul thats why I am looking for an answer. Maybee I'll Take it to a tune somewhere. Anybody know of a good performance tuning place in Brizvagas, Brisbane?
  11. Right, I just assumed that because one is 2 lt that it would natrually be a four.
  12. I think there would be a huge difference between an R32 and R33 in fuel consumption, one is a four cylinder the other a six.
  13. I like your explanation, but I envy your consumption, if I got driving like a granny what you get on a thrash weekend I could be rapt, 15lt per 100 on weekend is what I am aiming for normal driving. At the moment I get 17.7 per 100km, thats since I reset comp and started to drive more careful and not pihhhchhhhewwww all the time. Fiiled 23lt got 123km then 57lt (click click) and got 330. 23 +57=80litres. 123k +330k=453 km 453/80=5.66 100/5.66= 17.8lt per 100km. Thats the problem, and I am running on standard boost, I will increase it when I solve this consumption dilema.
  14. If you want to have the fastest car and not need to do much mods except increase boost, a good tune and put exhuast nothing will beat RX7. !!! Just a rough ride that rotary. My mate has a series 5, he runs 10psi and the only thing that has beaten him in 7 years was a 200 grand Porsche!!
  15. It's good to see that others share the same prob. The price of fuel doesn't worry me, I know driving a performance car =more fuel. However I didn't buy a v8 because I didn't want extreme fuel consumption, so I got a skyline. I dont drive to work, I live near by, so $80 a week and no trips up the coast equals a bit too much, especially when R33 run at 12litres per 100km so add a few mods, exhaust system and maybe more boost and you'd expect it to go up a few litres maybe 15 or 16. Anyway good luck to whoever works it out and share your knowledge. I should be working not messaging at Skyline forum. Bye
