  1. You wont believe this or if you can please help. I was driving back from the coast last week and had my aircon on. I was travelling down a motor way at about 110km and began to deaccelerate by taking my foot of the accelerator, as I took my foot off the car just started to launch with the revs going all the way to the red line. I put the brake on and eventually it went back to normal after a few seconds. Next On Sat night I was dropping off a friend, I came to a complete stop still in gear (air con wasn't on) then it happened again, it accelerated to red line, by it's self. I put my foot under the accelerator to make sure it wasn't stuck (it wasn't), it kept on reving high and blowing the valve, it was funny in a freaky way. It happened several times after that. I drove it yesterday, checked the cable ect all seems ok. I have dropped it at a mechanic to take a look at. Phewww. Anyway solved my fuel problem, changed O2 sensor, drove it on a highway, drove like it was a camry and got a good return of 12lt per 100km. Done!
  2. That is horrid, 250-300 km (once I got 350 and that was low revs all the way). Do you have any idea how painful it is to drive for soo long without a decent squirt? thats what I get. I will not go into it because I have gone through all the threads on fuel consumption and the only thing I got out of it was O2 sensor, done that. Filled in 20 litres and got a return of 117km. Anybody with experience in solving this problem please send me a PM. I am on the verge in investing in a tune, but what can that achieve?? It's a standard computer. I have put off increasing boost because I want to fix this problem, and I reckon it's not fair that a lot of you get 450-500 km with mods!
  3. Hi guy's Just want to know what the popping sound might be that seems to come from the exhaust when I deaccelerate?? Also I replaced my O2 sensor and my fuel consumption is still horrid.
  4. Some time ago I complained about how I used cheap wax and my Black skyline looked crappy. I since spent $85 at Supre Cheap and bought some "Mothers" polish and seal, and some Carabu.. wax and done a three phase detail. This price also included a $40 orbitor. You should see the shine now, you got to wear sunglasses at night when you look at it. I hope the attachment has worked. It took me about three and a half hours on Sunday to do it. I cant attach and paste a picture of it.........Damn!
  5. I never heard this shit before. Anyway another question, I grew up in Melbourne and have been living Brisbane for last three years. I reckon there are more skylines between Bribane and the gold coast then anywhere in Australia. What do you reckon or is it that I only see what I am interested in?
  6. It's the Tornado Fuel Saver, which promises to increase power by about 10 hp and save fuel for up to 28% It is a device that you fit between the airflow pipe and the manifold intake. It blows incomming air into the manifold in a tornado motion. I'll try and provide the link http://www.myauto.tv/tornado/?referal=79920995. is this some Yankee gimic?
  7. Yea I know, I couldn't be fu**ed soldering, because I dont have one. Anyway I understood the reset to be disconnecting battery, tapping on brake a few times and then reconnecting it again. I am a bit hesitant to take it to him for a "tune" he wouldn't elaborate when I asked him exactly what it was that he was going to do. I am sceptical about this as I haven't heard it mentioned on this site.
  8. Rob, I am also first Australian owner, I have had mine for under 2 months. What I find out is when my car was complied they failed to replace the petrol neck where the cap goes. I have no idea why Australian compliance rules have this, so I took it back and they replaced it for free. I was told that this might be a fuel evaporation problem. Anyway mine is a 93 R33. I bought it with 54k, somehow I think it should be more because of the state of the steering wheel. Anyway the mechanic did say that the computer couldn't handle modifications like BOV ect. I even asked about boost increase and he said the only way to do that is to spend $800 on some computer thingy. Anyway to increase it mechanically with T piece ect would not work well with comp. I assume that all of you have done it mechanically? So the answer might be that these mods effect computer which effects petrol consumption??? I will see how well it goes with O2 sensor. My guess is that I will never get 500km because I have exhaust system and BOV.
  9. OK, so i took my car to some brisbane mechanic who builds race cars and I saw he had several skylines in his work shop. I told him what I had done so far, Probe test, a diagnostics check, reset computer, replaced fuel neck. I told him somes guys on the internet reckon it's the o2 sensor, I said what do you think. He says it could be a hundred things you'll have to bring it in. Grumpy bastard. So I did and he told me it took him four years to become a mechanic. He recons were all smart asses getting info of internet. Anyway he pulled out an electrical tester and told me the O2 sensor is had it. Thank you I was greatful for that. He said that I would then have to bring it for a tune, I said what sort of tune, he said a full tune will cost you $280. I said what would a half cost he said $180. I said just reset the computer, he said it's not a matter of disconnecting the battery then conecting it. So I have gone and ordered an O2 sensor from nissan, cost me $170. The moral of this story??????? : :headspin: :Bang:
  10. See Cul thats why I am looking for an answer. Maybee I'll Take it to a tune somewhere. Anybody know of a good performance tuning place in Brizvagas, Brisbane?
  11. Right, I just assumed that because one is 2 lt that it would natrually be a four.
  12. I think there would be a huge difference between an R32 and R33 in fuel consumption, one is a four cylinder the other a six.
  13. I like your explanation, but I envy your consumption, if I got driving like a granny what you get on a thrash weekend I could be rapt, 15lt per 100 on weekend is what I am aiming for normal driving. At the moment I get 17.7 per 100km, thats since I reset comp and started to drive more careful and not pihhhchhhhewwww all the time. Fiiled 23lt got 123km then 57lt (click click) and got 330. 23 +57=80litres. 123k +330k=453 km 453/80=5.66 100/5.66= 17.8lt per 100km. Thats the problem, and I am running on standard boost, I will increase it when I solve this consumption dilema.
  14. If you want to have the fastest car and not need to do much mods except increase boost, a good tune and put exhuast nothing will beat RX7. !!! Just a rough ride that rotary. My mate has a series 5, he runs 10psi and the only thing that has beaten him in 7 years was a 200 grand Porsche!!
  15. It's good to see that others share the same prob. The price of fuel doesn't worry me, I know driving a performance car =more fuel. However I didn't buy a v8 because I didn't want extreme fuel consumption, so I got a skyline. I dont drive to work, I live near by, so $80 a week and no trips up the coast equals a bit too much, especially when R33 run at 12litres per 100km so add a few mods, exhaust system and maybe more boost and you'd expect it to go up a few litres maybe 15 or 16. Anyway good luck to whoever works it out and share your knowledge. I should be working not messaging at Skyline forum. Bye
  16. Ok, I have reset my computer. I have done a diagnostic check>>code 55 (engine light flashed 5 x slow, five times quick) I filled tank full with optimax. I drove like a granny for half tank (160 aprox km). I had Sat where I did some racing, (my mate got rx7 series 5 running with 10psi boost and I got him off the line but then that rotary just roars coming from second onto third) anyway back to the point. I then drove agian like a stiff in a straight jacket, and took it easy. All up I got 330km driving conservatively for majority of the time (mainly city driving). I have read posts where guys get 400km hooning around, and 450 to 500 km driving like stiff. Mechanic is pissing me off because he checked the read out from exhaust and it is perfect. So he believes it is evaporation problem, this is why I took my R33 back to have the neck on petrol nozzle replaced. (didnt cost me a cent) Then a lot of you guys here are undecided whether it is O2 sensor or not. Another option is to take it for a Dyno tune, but my mate reckons it's a waste unless I have some modification done. Mechanic has told me to fill tank again and drive like a stiff again, then call him with the result. I really cant be fU**ed driving like a granny again. I have gone through previous posts on this topic and it is undecided what the possible solution is. If you guys get 400km hooning then I want that too. Where to start?
  17. Can anyone guide me into the right direction in putting in a turbo timer? :headspin:
  18. standard computer (which has no reset screw)
  19. Are you saying that every R33 that doesn't have a GTS-T sticker on the back has been resprayed or had an accident. That's a huge call mate I think your jumping to a conclusion. I guess theres other reasons why; Maybe some didn't come out with them. Maybe owners removed them. Maybe stickers were an option when buying?
  20. My fuel consumtion has improved since resetting the computer. 180 out of half tank, I'm headed for 300 plus, improvement on before 260 (full tank). But I have been driving like a stiff. What I noticed when I reset it was I went for a drive imediately and my steering was wierd, I had to do a half left turn to keep the car straight. This was I guess the computer resetting it's self.
  21. Dont say it's dead. I think I have two LED's . I really dont know why it hasn't flashed. I dismantled the computer, then I cut a couple of green wires that I thought were in the way. I then spilt I think a little bit of my coke on it. No too much. So then I opened the computer in half and got a hair dryer to dry it. I think I held the dryer too close because I started to smell some smoke. I looked and the cuircut board started to melt. So I got my sticktape (there is nothing that sticky tape cant fix) and stuck the melted bit back on. I pushed all the wires back in then put it back, bingo. ha (joking), seriosly I should be getting a flashing light? I wonder why mine isn't flashing?
  22. Yes i realise that, however it states turn the key and there will be a red glowing light, that did not happen. Also I dont think mine has a diagnostic screw or i cant identify it.. Any advice?
  23. I have been using information from a book on the web called The Sky is the Limit. It mainly talks about R32 but has usfull info for R33. I have tried to get a read of the computer and have not been able to get anything to flash ect from it. The book says turn the car on with out starting it and there should be a sequence of lights. I get nothing. I just want to do a check of oxygen sensor ect. Any advice. :Bang:
  24. How much can I increase my boost too before having to make modifications to the turbo?
  25. Dead o2 sensor, wouldn't the engine light come on? That's what happened in my Integra the engine light came on so I had to take it to get checked and get the diagnosis. Wouldn't it be the same with Nissan's? I've only got 53k on my clock.
