  1. I'm looking for a wagon with lots of room and good performance. Maintenance issues doesn't concern me since I am a mechanic. Are spare parts for the Stag freely available? I heard somewhere that the transmission costs 15K or so to replace brand new from Nissan. I'm leaning more towards the Stag at the moment since it is more unique where as the Scoob is a dime a dozen. How does the Scoobs power and handling is compared with the Stag? I haven't driven the Scoob or the Stag yet so I don't know, but I've driven the 350 GT-8. Is the Scoob similar to the 350GT-8?
  2. I'm looking to buy a wagon for work duties and cannot decide between the AR-X and the 2004 Liberty 3.0R. Both are around the same price. I like the seats of the Liberty more and the Liberty does come in manual. The AR-X however looks better, and it has a turbo. What do you guys think?
  3. My guess is that it would be the same. The 'ring' is not a track that is particularly hard on the brakes. steel rotors are just as effective as carbon ceramic in terms of stopping power - so long as they remain cool. One or two laps on the 'ring' is not enough to overheat steel rotors.
  4. Overly careful owners like that does not help the erroneous belief being passed around by GTR 'haters' that the GTR's transmission is 'fragile' Surely one LC will not hurt the transmission - especially when it's the revised LC where warranty is not void so long as VDC is not turned off.

Even a blind man can tell that the 350z and the 370z are almost identical in looks. Spending too much time on the crack pipe mate.

Pretty simple minded statement. True that most people don't drive on the 'ring', but it's good to know what your car is capable of compared with other cars on the 'ring'. If all performance car manufactures use the 'ring' as a test track for their cars, trying to outdo each other by making the fastest 'ring' cars, who benefits in the end? Knowing the maximum potential of your car gives you an idea of how well it is engineered and hence, 'is it worth it's price compared with the competition?' This applies to every product in life. Simple.

All the best 'ring' times are done with the Dunlops. Suzuki also said that the Dunlops are faster and are his preferred tire for tracking. The only problem with the Dunlops though, is that they don't last as long as the Bridgestones, and so for daily driving, which most GTR owners are using the car for, Bridgestones are the better choice. The Premium GTRs use to only come with Bridgestones, but now owners can choose either tire.

The Dunlops are quicker than the Bridgestones.
  10. ^ I would like to see a base 911 for $160k. Probably not in my lifetime! Last time i looked, they were retailing for around $220k - that's Spec-V money (If it does come to Australia) And the boffins at Motor mag still whinge that the spec-V is expensive. Let me see....base 911 or spec-V? hmmm..... very hard decision......NOT!
  11. +1. Motor magazine has always been biased towards Porsche and Holden and aren't much of a fan with any of the GTRs. They hated the handling of the R34 GTR when they first test drove it from my memory! Correct me if im wrong but the 'performance' comparison wasn't even a proper performance comparison at all. All they did was drive the 2 cars on local roads, did a straight line drag and that's it. No proper laps by a pro driver around a circuit, no skid pad, no braking tests, no lateral G tests and so on. Their 0 - 400 meter test wasn't even done properly in the GTR, and they even made the false statement that the Bridgestone runflats are "cut slicks" They even said that the 7:27 Nurb time was done with a Spec-V disguised as a normal GTR! They start to bitch about the stiffness of the GTR's suspension on local roads. For god's sake, it's a supercar - not a shopping trolley! They whine about the size of the GTR's back seat. As if the GT2's back seat is any better - oh wait, what back seat? No mention of the superb awd system and the dual clutch transmission, just a lot of bitching about unimportant stuff. And at the end, they say that the GT2 is better - where's the proof? I'm sure the GT2 is better, but please show us how you come up to that conclusion with proper 'performance' testing. At almost 3 times the price of the GTR - the GT2 better as hell be better. Wheels magazine however, has a better story on the GTR. This time it's the new GTR vs the legendary R32 Gibson race GTR. The bad thing with this story however is that they seem to focus more on the history of the R32 with Skaife and didn't pay too much attention on the R35.
  12. Fair enough that he thinks that the GTR has no soul, personality, heart, brains, pussy, blond hair etc etc, and that it's not the car for him. But once he starts dribbling BS and using double standards then that's when his credibility goes out of the window. For example, he whinges that the GTR doesn't have sat nav and parking sensors. "Cars that are $100K+ should have sat nav and parking sensors". Do i see Ferrari Enzo, GT2, Zonda F have those? Enzo doesn't even have power windows for christ sake! and that car is a lot lot lot more than $100K. I'm sure he wouldn't be bitching about the Enzo or Zonda F not having power windows, sat nav or parking sensors. He goes on to complain that the GTR's turbo spools up too slow. Yet, the turbo on the 911 turbo and GT2 spools up even slower. He nitpicks that the GTR has a diff temp display, but it's in fact the transmission temp display that is shown and is vital when tracking the car. He discredits Quin from winning the Targa Tasmania inferring that Quin was simply due for a win since he's been driving in the event for 11 years and that the GTR has nothing to do with it. So if Quin was driving a Brumby Ute, he would've won also? - simply because he was due for a win? There's more contradictions and double standards in his reviews that other members have pointed out. This guy is a complete douchebag and it is clear that he is one of the GTR haters. He is pissed off that Nissan has made a car that has annihilated his beloved Porsche 911 turbo (for under half the price), and it's showing in his review of the GTR. This Moron should retire from motor journalism in shame.
  13. Weight reduction costs money mate. Lots of money. It aint as easy as just stripping the interior because that only gets you so far. To make a car with the chassis rigidity of the GTR but weighting 200kgs less requires exotic materials that aint cheap and a lot of engineering. For example changing the roof of the GTR to carbon fiber seems like a fairly straightforward process to many, but in fact it is a complicated process. You can't just simply slap on a cf roof. If you do, you also reduce the structural rigidity of the car as well. This was explained by Mizuno in one of his interviews. If the GTR was to weigh 200kg less, Nissan would have to be asking 911 turbo money for it to be profitable. First you bitch about the car being too heavy, (but it's weight doesn't hamper its performance) and then you bitch about it being too expensive (even though it is regarded by many who have driven it to be the performance bargain of the decade). So what do you want, a 1400kg full dry carbon fibre body GTR for under $100K? Are you in a dream world or something? I think (and this is just my opinion) that YOU are the one who should show more maturity with your "opinions"
  14. - Too heavy? But it wins races and beats practically any stock car sold in Australia in the quarter mile. - Too expensive? Being one of the most technologically advanced super car in the world - with the performance numbers to back it up, you want it to be cheaper? You want Nissan to go bankrupt or something? - 'I know i haven't driven one' - practically sums it all up. It's like me saying that i don't like eating steak - even though i've never eaten it before. Sounds stupid doesn't it? I bet you haven't even seen a GTR in person. Don't pretend that you like Nissan. You're just a hater like the rest of the Anti-GTR fanboys
  15. True, but the GTR's engine doesn't rev to 16000 rpm like a motorbike's engine....
  16. What, with lateral acceleration at 1.12g and braking over 2gs - you guys reckon that it's too expensive? what other car in that price range does that? Remember that if it comes to Australia, it will be cheaper than the 911 turbo. Remember that those brakes on the spec-V are the same as the Ferrari FXX - which isn't even a legal street car. There is no other street car on the planet with brakes that good. Have a think about that. Remember that only 30 are made a month. Nissan is already losing money on the normal GTR. It is there Halo car. Business wise, it is stupid if they are losing money on the spec-V as well, since they are making only 30 a month. People say that it's not as good as two GTR's put together eventhough it costs twice. But they forgetting the law of diminishing returns. Is the 911 turbo twice as good as the normal GTR? Is the Lambo LP540 3 times better than the normal GTR? Simple answer. NO
  17. Yeah, some dude over in the US just did an 11.03 sec quarter mile with just a cobb tune and the new revised LC. Imagine that, a street car in Australia that does low 11 sec quarter miles each and every time, day in day out. You'll virtually be unbeatable Who would've thought that Nissan would make a car this good for this price? I mean, i used to dream about owning a 911 turbo because of its performance numbers. Now, i don't need to anymore - I can get a GTR which is even faster for under half the price of the Porker. Good times indeed. Thank you Nissan. I bet the guys who cancel their order in Australia because they thought that Nissan would remove the LC feature for Australian models are pretty pissed off right now - considering that all GTR allocations for Australia have been sold.
  18. And out of the base 911 and the GTR, which has the better engine, better transmission, better usage of power, better dynamics and faster in a straight line and on the track? Which one costs less? Does a few extra pieces of cow hide in the Porsche justify its price against the GTR?
  19. Yeah but unlike the GTR, the HSV427's performance and build quality does not justify its price.
  20. The guy who wrote the article reckons that at around AU$148K, it's a bit too expensive - cos it's a Nissan. Talk about brand snobbery. Where else can you find a car in Australia with that kind of performance for that kind of price? The author is a retard.
  21. Some guy over in Nagtroc America. He was trying to be the first person to break into the 10s. Got a 11.04sec pass before being kicked off the drag strip for not having a roll cage.
  22. the times that Nissan quoted is without LC. Apparently, it can be replicated. Owners over in Nagtroc have managed 11.7sec quarter mile @ 120mph with a stock car, stock tires, normal fuel (93 octane) and NO LC. The technique is quite simple as well and anyone can do it.

    R35 Loses

Umm, i consider the 911 turbo to be more 'supercar' than the R8. The R8 is pretty slow for a 'supercar' - a lot more slower than the GTR.
  24. dude, how much is shipping for the steering rack to adelaide?
  25. im interested in the steering rack with inner and outer tie rods. Is there any play or leakage? How much and will you ship to Adelaide?
