  1. Well that's the plan anyway, I do find that being in my early 40s that I rarely get pulled over, probably got something to do with the fact that as you get older its harder for them to BS you. I feel for all the young fellas out there who go and spend good coin on a nice car only to be goated and harassed by the boys in blue. Majority of engine builders that I have spoken to recommend the Haltech with either the 3073 or 3076 Thank you everyone for your advice and input Cheers Paul
  2. I have spoken to Frank the fella with the RB in the EH Holden
  3. 34 GEE TEE TEE I did hear something along that line that someone over in Brisbane way had done it I have looked at the customers cars on the JEM site but can't see it Was is there or some place else on their site ?
  4. Hi everyone and thank you for your advice I have just finished speaking to a fella over here in Perth who used to work for 101 garage in QLD Looks like I will probably go with the Haltech unit and the 3073 turbo on top of a 6 boost manifold. I didn't realize that running E85 was that much of a mess around ( excuse my ignorance) Will use the AFM to pass licensing and then run the internal MAP sensor in the ecu. The engine exhaust noise shouldn't be too much of an issue as long as its gone properly. Most probably won't be pulled over every day like you do in a skyline majority of 5 O wouldn't expect that from an old fj holden
  5. Hi everyone and thank you for your advice I have just finished speaking to a fella over here in Perth who used to work for 101 garage in QLD Looks like I will probably
  6. Good points there to consider there, only going by what was recommended to me with the turbo size, thank you for the advice and I will do some more research when I get back to the big smoke, if I can go a smaller turbo and pick up good response then that's great, not after huge HP just some decent HP so the car is fun to drive. If Fitting the AFM to get past licensing then running the MAP sensor part of the ecu after is what I have to do then I will do that no big deal. Running E85 was only an option to get past the emissions part of licensing due to the fuel burning cleaner if it was needed, once car is licensed I was going to run premium pump fuel. Ok so I have a few mates that build Rb's and I have spoken to RIPS over in NZ because I was looking at one of their manifolds at one stage and some fellas that have drift cars. Recommended so far Haltech Wolf Power FC Link G4
  7. Ah I see, didn't realize that deleting the AFM would do that, was told if I run E85 it runs cleaner and would pass
  8. Thanks for the reply but shouldn't I be able to choose my own ecu A good tuner should be able to tune a number of ecu's
  9. Hi guys This has probably been covered already but I am not having much luck finding it if there is. Is there a post on recent ecu comparisons. My build is using a RB25det My mods planned so far Greddy inlet manifold High rise turbo manifold Hta 3076 or gtx3076 turbo ( not purchased yet) Manual box Fmic Bigger injectors I guess what I am looking for is around the 400whp max and I am looking for an ecu that has a few tunes available, should be able to get me over the emissions test on one of the tunes Adjustable Boost controll And be MAP compatible. I probably have missed some things as I am new to these engines. Cheers
  10. I hear Westy's Warehouse is reasonable and its all online Think he is located in Forrestfield
  11. Hi R31nismoid and Duncan Thank you for the reply, I wasn't aware of the edit function Cheers Paul
  12. G day moderator I can't edit a post after the fact and for some reason when I tap the participated tab it comes up blank.
  13. Hi everyone Thought I would start a build page for my project Fj Holden with a RB 25det Plan so far is to rebuilt the engine with fairly standard internals, maybe a good set of forged slugs, balancing, a bit of porting new set of bolts to hold it all together, possibly some new cams, i already have a good greddy manifold copy, still need to buy exhaust manifold and gtx 3076 turbo and still not decided what ecu to use. The front end I have is a new Rodtech unit with adjustable coil overs and a decent set of brakes. So far it's been fairly straight forward, major problems that I can see at the moment are the clutch master cylinder is fairly close to the inlet plenum and the throttle body flange is a bit too close to the inner guard so will have to cut and re position the flange. The black spots on the firewall are where the vt brake booster and master cylinder and R33 clutch master cylinder will be mounted. I will be recessing the firewall approximately 2" so the engine will be sitting back a bit further than in the picture to allow for the radiator and thermo fans That's it for now Keep you all posted with my progress Cheers Paul
  14. Ah yes the LX hatch build That's an awesome build and he has great fabrication skills and being 4x4 is just plain awesome, should handle great. Looking forward to seeing this car on the road Thank you for the link, will start a build thread when I get along a bit more with the project Cheers Paul
  15. Hi and thanks for the reply Not as yet still reading through all this info on here, man there is so much info on here I think I'll be here for weeks. Thanks for the heads up I will have a look for that thread. I know of a fella here in Perth that has a EH ute with a RB 25det and the thing fly's putting out around 500-550 HP. The RB25det into a Lj torana was going to be my main project but when my old man passed on I inherited his FJ which he has had for 40 years, so now I'm boosting the old fJ now. Got approval from Dep of transport for the conversion now just need a combination of time and money. Now for some more reading and to search for that torana thread. Cheers Paul
  16. G day everyone just thought I would introduce myself and show my current project. My ride isn't everyone's cuppa and technically isn't a skyline but has the heart of one, always loved the RB engine and my old cars so it was a simple progression. My current project is a 1955 fj Holden that I am fitting in a RB25det, Greddy inlet manifold, high mount GTX30/76 turbo, aftermarket ecu, 5 speed gear box and a VN crumple door diff Etc Aiming for around 400 HP Currently fitting up the engine etc Most people like the idea, some don't and when asked why I say why the heck not. Cheers Paul
