probably but the report says something bout having to "remove belt/s to locate"...u think he means that it could be that...probably some stupid old man mechanic who doesn't know wat a skyline is...i'm jsut really worried i'm gonna buy this thing with ll my money and end up having to shell out another $1,000 to fix it. how much should i pay for a timingblet change in Melb. the clock says 85,000kms so maybe/most likely wound back and is due for timingblet change as it hasn't been done and the cars been here for 2 years...so

wat gets me is that the RACV comprehensive mechanic check couldn't tell me wat it was...without taking removing belt/s to locate. they said it was coming from the drive belt area...is that the same as u???

just wondering if anyone else has a knocking sound on there car while it idles. i'm looking at buying a car that does...apparently had it for past 10,000km drives really well. i've read past posts and people say it goes away when u press the clutch but i havent tried this as i dind't think of that when i checked it out. it's like a rhythmic knocking sound. it got checked by RACV comprehensive check and they said they couldn't tell me wat it was without removing the whole thing and they weren't aloud to do that coz i don't own the car. any help on wat it could be and how expensive it wud be to fix would be great. thanks

will a skyline specialist know wat it is without taking it apart...because it's not my car and the guy doesn't really like taking it places that much..had a hard time getting him to find someone to take it to the RACV testing centre. but it's like a rhythmic knocking sound when it's idling...possible there after idle but to loud to hear it. does anyone else have this sound???

thanks heaps for the info on RACV tests...i was wondering if anyone sees a problem with the knocking sort of sound from the engine...the guy said it had been there for 10,000km but i'm not sure how legit he is. has anyone else heard a sound like this. it sounds like it could be worn bearings...no one can tell me without taking the whole thing apart...

I have found a 1993 GTS-T manual and all seemed good with it except a small knocking noise in the engine bay. i sent the car off for a comprehensive RACV test. the car still needs to get a roadworthy so i'm not sure wat is his problems to fix and wat are mine Results: Engine noise in the drivebelt area but wud need to remove belt/s to locate it. Turbo-Timer not secured powersteering hoses have oil wetness water entry into the boot and spare tyre recess paintwork on panels has dents and scratches...(i didn't notice any when i looked at it but i didn't get a very close look) roof paint has dull spots and some scratches and blemishes rear window tint scratched all disc rotors are below minimum thickness and scored so needing replacment. front right tyre is a different brand...although all tyres are claimed new...and look pretty good car needed to be jump started so new battery aswell right front headlight doesn't work water inside rear indicator both park lamps don't work the radio aerial is damaged and binded together (i think) this is the car...has a 3 1/2 exhaust cd staker and graphic equalizer, pionerr rear speakers, has side skirts n front bumper. not sure is it has ABS so that's the report they checked heaps of stuff and said the car drives very nicely. he is asking $15,000 but i could easily get that down i think what repairs are my problem and wat are his...and how much will mine cost ruffly. thanks for anyone who read all that and thanks in advance for any opinions on wat to do.

yeah i am still learning heaps...sorry if sometimes i ask stupid questions i've just noticed how much u guys know that's all. i ask half the questions because people swear by other things they tell me...thanks for the straight answer though helped heaps...i'll try to answer some of my own questions first through reading other stuff first...

ohh and am i gonna experience any lack of acceleration if i leave the wastegate open??? besides the lack of turbo like will it affect the rest of the engine??? thanks for ur help guys

bad luck when other people do stupid shit...just been wondering coz i'm buying a R33 GTS-T and only able to get 3rd party insurance... i'm gonna leave the wastegate open for the first 6-12 months though till i get experience for the turbo to be a bit safer..wat u all think

i thought it was real easy to stop the turbo all u do is open the wastegate yeah and remove the actuator and that's it...then i can just put it bak on after bout a year of driving by myself..it's just so i don't crash it that easily...only 3rd party insurance :S i don't wanna waste time gettin another car then selling and then gettin a GTS-T

nah i need his help for some things with it...like just said he wudn't help me buy it...eg not give me the 2,000 he was putting into it for me...plus there are 2 other cars at my address and being in Vic i need to move them to another property we own so it's legal for me to drive the thing on P's. so he said he'd help with that aswell...i'm lucky we own another house and can register them under that address so i can apply for a high powered vechile thing. that and the money he's giving me are the reason...

yeah he's definatly taking me through driving courses n stuff...i'm obsessed with the skyline and have worked hard as for this thing...i know i'm saying this now and it's probably bullshit but i'm gonna be respecting it so...i seem to learn every lesson the hard way lol

thanks guys...my dad mite get a bit sus but i'll see wat he says bout it lol. i guess it's for my own good. i mean who thinks that a P plater on their first year with a turbo is a bit much...plus i will only have 3rd party so i can't afford to crash lol. mite jsut do that for the first year or so then use the turbo

if u get a machanic certificate saying it's been de-tuned then they accept that. but i want to be able to turn the turbo back on afta about a year so i don't wanna buy a non turbo and then sell then buy another GTS-T. my dad just doesn't want me to get any boost. thinks i'll kick the back out on a corner to easily

so stopping the turbo is really easy...that just means i wont get any boost yeah... now wat aobut the fuel? will the car be putting heaps of fuel in. and will this be all i have to do to stop getting any boost

nah coz i wanna change it back afta like a year or something so i don't wanna have to sell the car and buy another..sticky tape where. and will the car be putting to much fuel in the engine if the turbo isn't working...can i control this..thanks for the help

hey guys...i finally found a sik R33 GTS-T only problem is some d!ck talked my dad into thinking the car is way to powerful for a P plater...(probably rite) anyway my dad said it's all cool for me to buy it..BUT i have to make the turbo not work AT ALL... :S anyway i was just wondering how do i do this....and how much will it cost...and will i be able to just turn the tubo back on lata. what other things will this effect...eg fuel going into the engine etc.. thanks for ur help guys. need quick reply though
