  1. The two 3 into 1 merge collectors go to 2.5" and then those two 2.5" merge into 3" and then ive got two borla 3" in/out XR-1 Multicore racing mufflers, one just before the diff under the fuel tank and the other will be at the end to replace my ricer cannon! I will take photos when finished.
  2. Cheers fellas! Did some more on the exhuast system on the weekend until I ran out of gas But I got a new bottle today and did some more. Ive spent alot of time getting it nice and high so I wont have to worry about my exhaust bottoming out on every speed bump. For the most part its all pretty well within the chassis rail height. Just gotta fit the final rear muffler and then link up to it from under the sway bar! Then weld it all up and paint it. Hopefully by the weekend ill be stuffing around with the fuel system!
  3. Yeh exactly. Dont go rushing stuff. Will only end in regrets later on. Take your time and do it proper! Thats the plan im sticking to with my project. I must admit it does get tempting to just go hard out and dodge it up to finish it quickly. What sort of RB30 you planning on building?
  4. lol @ RB30 thing....for starters I would not trust your tuner if his last resort blame was that. As said, engines need excessive air to have high idle. Did you inspect the new rb26 throttle setup before putting it on the head? Make sure they were fully opening and closing with no issues and not open too much when closed? As said you may just need to play with the adjustment. However, usually it is just the idle control valve....
  5. If you took it off while in the car then surely you can put it back on in the reverse order. The filter head is pretty important, I wouldnt be cutting it off and replacing it with a perishable piece of hose and no coarse filtration before the pump.
  6. The bearings should have assembly lube on them anyway. Only other way is to use oil, but thats an old practice. Fairly certain everyone uses the lube these days. But yeh thats right. The lube on the gears just helps create suction and protect from dry wear until the oil starts going through it all.
  7. Plugs shouldnt be in if your trying to prime. The load on the bearings from compression can be enough to 'wipe' them. You can put oil into the outlet to oil cooler/filter and turn the motor backwards to let it run down and then turn it clockwise and try to prime again. You should put a smear of assembly lube over the gears to help create a seal when you inspect it and chuck it on.
  8. Apologies about lack of replies. I have since put the motor back in and had to change a few things. After a chat with Mike Vine a couple of weeks ago I decided to change the setup. Ive put a new 80mm throttle body in standard position and made up an adapter to hook up the z32 afm and pod filter back up in their standard positions. Doing this has simplified it all abit as there is less wiring and fiddly things to now do. Ive had to slow down to accumulate some more funds so I can buy the last of the stuff I need to finish it off. Which is just the rest of the exhaust and fuel system. Its all the fittings/hose I need to get thats going to cost abit, but hopefully have those within the week and then I just need some time when I'm not sick and can work on the car when its daylight! The last couple of weeks have been painful as I've been sick every weekend, but come good just in time for work! But its pretty well home stretch time now. I will aim to do some work and take some pictures and do a half decent update sometime soon! Its finally getting there. Been pretty well four months now! Time goes so quick!
  9. Looking good in real life! I spent all arvo/night at mercury and saw this thing in person.
  10. Yeh I was keen to run. Guess it will have to be next time!
  11. I cant make it tomorrow. So my spot is free if someone wants it or if Noel hasnt already organised somebody else to replace me. My car isnt finished and I cant take the race car!
  12. My mate and I made one the same as the process west unit for his xr6 turbz. Except instead of a billet tank welded down I just folded it up out of 3mm ally and welded it down to a lasercut plate. Turned out much the same and saved the expense. No need for a flashy unit when its tucked under the car and getting dirty constantly.
  13. Sounds nice and affordable. 2L unit will work fine. They dont need to be round. Plenty of surge tanks are made in funky designs. Everything working as it should, they are pretty much constantly full. We have a rectangular shaped one in the race car and it works great! Lol before we put it in we had plenty of fuel surging problems though, that was with a heavily baffled 60L fuel cell. Its suprising just how much fuel sloshes around in a big container when going fast.
  14. Who is rob and what/where is sabbadin? Sounds like a raghead temple! I just looked at the link and it shows photos of the doors and whatnot inside. Looks the goods! That sump with an accusump and you will have a bullet proof oiling system, or as close as it gets in a wetsump system.
  15. Do you have any pictures of how it all looks? How bad was it really?
  16. Nice! Thats alot of power for a rwd car! No doubt it will be heaps of fun!
  17. Try Mercury Motorsports out! Call Trent.
  18. Looks great! What kind of power you hoping to achieve after final tune?
  19. ohhh yeh! RB30det! Now it begins!
  20. Lucky! I put it in the ross box. So yes its there
  21. You can probably use either. The sumps are much the same besides the scraper fins on the back of the 25 one. Should be fine. If I still have my old rb25det balancer you can have that. I will have to check in case it got thrown out by my old man. If it is there though, a bottle of red rum is the price I am also northside.
  22. Yeh I was thinking .84 which I think is the smallest in split pulse without going to single entry or t3 foot.
  23. Not really. But it means I would have to buy another throttle body bigger then standard. Probably atleast 100mm, though I think the intake to the plenum is only about 90mm, nothing abit of grinding cant fix. Guess I will just have to see for myself. Hopefully it wont be as bad as he made it out to be.
  24. lol im at work and its lunch. If only I was at home and working on it.. Side note, I got to briefly speak to Mike Vine at the speedway saturday night and I told him about my project and he said they did something similiar but had to run two throttle bodies because apparently there will be abit of lag in the time it takes to fill everything after the supercharger to the plenum as its alot of volume in vaccum and takes abit of time to fill. The old codger scared me with the lag part! Making me thing I should have just left the throttle body were it was..... DANG!
