  1. Yeah all LCD manufacturers make 20x4 lcd screens with similar (if not the same) size PCBs, so a screen from any manufacturer will work. You have to remember though that places like matrixorbital and crystalfontz add their own serial interfaces to the screens, which you will need to remove to work with my module. Also, those places like to sell their screens at $100+ AUD. Do you want a different backlight that bad? Impakt
  2. Even if the ecu is piggybacked this will still work. The brand of the LCD is displaytech from memory. tang0: I havent received any mail from you yet! PTR33: Thanks for the feedback Many people are happier with it once they actually see the unit. Impakt
  3. yes it will work with r32 gtst, it says so in the manual! im not writing any pc software, there are already programs out there (srtalk, conzult free) that do everything you need anyway. RS232 interface spec is available online too, to help you write your own pc programs. Impakt
  4. i pretty much have 8 on the shelf which need another 30 mins work to get shipped. As soon as i receive the money by DD i send within 24 hours. COD is fine too, with which i also need 12-24 hours notice. If you are in sydney we can organise a meeting so you can pick up. Impakt
  5. There is free software available online that can read and clear fault codes, log data, suck out stock maps etc. I have all the free software here. Also, the more people get these, the more people will go out and write even more software. Some ppl have been asking the same questions, so i'll answer them all here (again). I cant make it look better without adding to the cost and complexity of making it (which in turns makes it cost more again). I cant change the screen to blue, without (again) adding at least $100 to the cost. Most suppliers have the green ones in stock because they are the standard colour. Blue ones would have to be specially ordered, which means lead times of weeks if not months, and i would also need to order around 100-10,000 without getting completely ripped off. If anyone knows of an electronics supplier that has blue lcd screens i would be more than happy to chase them up about it. Attached with this post is a copy of the manual, which explains what it can display, and how the 3 buttons are used. Impakt
  6. Kos!: Blue LCD screens are hard to come by. The ones i have seen cost over 5x the price of the green one. I can see why you guys would like it to look better, but without spending another $200 on top, you cant get it much better than that. I do make these in my spare time you know! BNR32: Its made of plastic, and the front panel is perspex, it's not made of metal Penfold: You should receive your display today or tomorrow the latest. Impakt
  7. Penfold: My device works with GT-R ecus. I had it working with an r32 ecu today. PM me if you want me to send you one. Squizz: My gauges aren't purple, they look like that because of the (phone) camera i used, they are still the stock blue colour. BTW this is a read only device, so it doesn't remove the speed cut. Here are some more images i took the other day: Regards, Impakt
  8. Penfold: where are you located? Im running my device on a gt-r today and tomorrow, includin the 2nd afm, to make sure it works. Impakt
  9. yeah you will need a program to send the right commands to the ecu once you want to use a laptop. There are programs around on the net that do basic stuff. No doubt as more people get these more software will be available. www.zcontrol.net has some good stuff there too. Impakt
  10. There is already a program that erases fault codes for the sr20s and 300zx's. I think the same program will work for skylines as all the fault code related stuff is the same for all cars. Impakt
  11. yeah you can do that. My thing - Laptop - In car tv Impakt
  12. No idea how much to send to UK. It already comes with a plug to plug into the laptop. It displays on its own character LCD screen, so it wont work with the one in the r34 gtr. Is that what you meant? Impakt
  13. Phat mr30: im going around one forum at a time, dont want to get flooded hehe. Thanks for the tips Impakt
  14. Hi all, Some of you may know that i was working on a digital dash for the stock Nissan ecus. Well the time has finally come! I have got all the parts together to make 10 and already have made one to prove the concept. Attached is a pic (taken with my phone) that shows it in action, and sitting there with the (proper) Consult connector. It plugs into the Consult diagnostic port and displays 8 sensors at a time, in realtime. The sensors/data you can choose from are: rpm speed (km/h and mph) afm voltage injector pulse width injector duty cycle coolant temp ignition timing tps voltage absolute tps position (%age) EGT voltage (if supported by ecu) o2 sensor voltage AAC position (%age) battery voltage Lean/Rich Indicator Flags (On/off indicators): Closed TPS, A/C Relay, A/C Compressor, Fuel pump, start switch, VTC solenoid, thermo fans, and a few others. All of these variables depend on whether your ecu supports them. The device also has a serial port so you can connect your laptop to it and log the data. I am currently testing a program that pulls fault codes and erases them, logs data, does a fuel map trace(!), and a few other things. Update: A program is available which actively logs the data while the display is in use! A link is available on the NissDataScan page. You can also read the stock maps from the ecu with a laptop. And no, you can’t tune the ecu with this! It also has a peak-hold function, so it will remember the max rpm, duty cycle, pulse width, afm voltage, water temp etc, and store it in memory for recall later... Final price is $300AU + shipping (which is around $15 around Australia). Those of you in Sydney are welcome to come past Unigroup Engineering and check it out (when i'm there, let me know before hand). I can either sell a basic version which shows the variables that 99% of Nissan ecus support, or do a test on an ecu from your car so I can custom make one which reads out as many things as your ecu supports. A custom one might not work on other Nissans though. Impakt Here is a site with more information http://members.optusnet.com.au/impakt01/nds/ ] here[/url] Some commonly asked questions are: Will it work with an aftermarket ECU? Nope, only with stock ECUs, also ECUs with are chipped/daughterboard installed. Will it work with Power FC? Nope. Will it work with an interceptor like the Unichip or S-AFC? Yep, but the display will report what the ECU "sees". My car isn't in the supported cars list. Will it work with my ? Chances are if it has the Consult port available, it will.
  15. Hi All, The device is ready to go! I have organised all the parts to make 10. I also have the proper Nissan Consult connectors. Final price is $300, and if you are in Sydney i would like to test it on your car first to make sure the device can read out as much as your ecu can support. I have tested it on a pulsar gti-r, bluebird attesa, and r33 skyline gts4. More details in the for sale section. Impakt
  16. Update: Sorry, AFAIK the ECU doesnt support knock display through Consult, so my device wont be able to display it. There is a lead time of around 19 weeks on the connector so I would like to see if there is anyone out there interested (pref. in Sydney) in a version without the connector to start. People who buy without the connector can have the device for $250 and I will supply the connector later on, if production goes ahead. Also, I would like these people who get the device without the connector to help test and give feedback on the software. So far I have had it running since Christmas and I believe I have ironed out most bugs. Sydney people are preferred so I can update the software if I need to. The device should work on any car with a consult connector, so far I have had it going fine on an S13, and on my U13 bluebird attesa. Other cars are most welcome to be tested! Anyone interested? A link to a picture of my prototype is at http://sr20.net/gallery/albums/Misc/abp.jpg top pic shows the peak hold values, bottom show current values. If you look closely at the afm voltage (af1) you can see the voltage was just about to change – look at the last digit. If you would like more information or would like to help me test the device please email me at [email protected] Impakt
  17. nah i mean a u13 bluebird attesa BTW this cant tune the car or anything like the microtech, but either way yes it is very helpful to people who tune the stock ecus. Impakt
  18. yeah this works on any nissan with a consult port. Currently all testing has been done on my bluebird, which is sr20det. Impakt
  19. What i meant was that the consult port on its own does not work once a power FC is used. Obviously the power fc has the interface there to be able to monitor and change these bits of data. Impakt
  20. If you are desperate and still use the stock ecu i can custom make something for you using a big LCD, or even seven segment displays. I already have a device that uses a 4x20LCD screen. Sorry for bumping an old thread. Impakt
  21. Sorry power fcs wont work with this. It works with the standard nissan diagnostic port, which i bet isnt supported with the power fc. The thing will cost less without the LCD and that but i built this because i for one cant afford to have a laptop in the car all the time. It does have an rs232 port so you can easily plug one in and start logging, sucking out stock rom maps etc. Impakt
  22. No i dont know Andrew L. Sorry, i will try and get a decent pic this week. I dont have a digital camera handy. Impakt
  23. Hello everyone, I have recently built a device for the stock nissan ecu. Attached is a (crappy) picture taken with my phone. It plugs into the Consult diagnostic port and displays 8 sensors in realtime. This means that CA18 vehicles will not work with this as they dont have a consult port. The sensors/data it can display are: rpm speed afm voltage injector pulse width injector duty cycle coolant temp ignition timing tps voltage absolute tps position (%age) EGT voltage (if supported by ecu) o2 sensor voltage AAC position (%age) battery voltage Lean/Rich Indicator Flags (On/off indicators for: Closed TPS, A/C Relay, A/C Compressor, Fuel pump, start switch, VTC solenoid, thermo fans, and a few others. The device also has a serial port so you can connect your laptop to it and potentially log the data. You can also read the stock maps from the ecu with a laptop. And no, you cant tune the ecu with this! It also has a peak-hold function, so it will remember the max rpm, duty cycle, pulse width, afm voltage, water temp etc, and store it in memory for recall later... I will soon make orders for more parts, but wanted to gauge interest (if any) so i can work out how many of each part i should order. Of course, the more parts i buy, the cheaper it gets. Currently the device looks to cost around the $300 mark, that includes the proper consult connector, and laser cut front panel. Anyone interested? Impakt
