  1. heres what I've figured so far. Ive been talking to some pneumatic gurus at work and you are WRONG. smaller diameter in the pipe does NOT mean there is greater pressure. in actual fact, the pressure remains very much the same. Flow only increases. Because of this, and we all know the restrictor lowers boost, the guys believe that the restrictor is in place to keep the gate open longer, after pressure is removed from the actuator side. This means that the wastegate, once fully opened, takes a while to close again, meaning that the boost pressure is kept lower. There is NO such thing as a restrictor to increase pressure, it simply holds pressure at the diaphram for longer. (unlike what R33silverS2 has stated several times, pressure does not increase as the pipe gets smaller) I fitted a restrictor to my car last week (went and bout 2 inchs of copper tube that fitted my vaccum hose) and my boost has dropped to around 8 pound consistently. The restrictor does work. Obviously, the most efficient way to control boost is electronically. Because of the restrictor, the wastegate also takes longer to open and this means it would be easier to have 'boost spiking' present. Hope this clears a few things up.
  2. Thanks guys. If the spray doesnt work, im almost 100 percent sure its a tribe of geckos in my heater box. Will give feedback
  3. LMAO Because the pipe going to my boost gauge is really small, MAYBE, just MAYBE i am reading a much higher boost then i am actually running. DEAR GOD the problem is solved, maybe we have different boost gauge piping! what size is the pipe running to your boost gauge R33silverS2?
  4. Your analogy is completely wrong. As i said before. You seem to not understand the relationship between pressure and flow. are you saying if i block off a pipe, and plug the other end into a compresser, that as the pipe gets smaller and smaller it will have higher pressure until it reachs the end? You cannot deny the fact that when flow ceases pressure will equalise on both sides of a restriction. For this reason, I don't see how having a smaller pipe will give you less boost. can anyone else clarify? perhaps with some more in depth arguements?
  5. Dude that sounds so wrong. the smaller pipe will not give you a higher pressure. are you saying that the air pressure in my intercooler piping could be say, 10psi, and because my piping to the actuator is smaller, the pressure inside here will be around 15psi? It doesnt work like that. use common sense. In actual fact, because an actuator has little air flow to it, the restrictor wont do alot other then slow movement and proberbly make boosting smoother on the standard setup. Where is everyone taking there actuator tap from? my problem has been fixed, i moved it to the piping immediatly after the turbo and fitted new BIGGER hose straight to the actuator.
  6. Ok so pretty much the only idea we've got is to clean the heater box which means pulling out the dash yeh?
  7. Pull my dash out! where is it exactly? and isnt there a filter somewhere?
  8. Im interested in this guys. My car turns into a giant vacuum cleaner at over 4500 revs cause the boost hits about 14psi. Makes little power here and goes way harder if i back off a little. I have full straight through exhaust, front mount and a stainless steel intake. I run no boost controller and have a straight tap off of mr piping. the car used to run normal boost and i havnt touched the actuator since my mods. Is my system just too free flowing?
  9. Hey guys, I have an R33 gtst and lately when I turn anything on to do with the air con (fan, heater, anything) it really smells. i was thinking maybe i should replace the filter but i have no idea where it is! any input appreciated. Thanks, Bill.
  10. Also interested in knowing this as i believe the Gizzmo limiter/launch controller works the same.
  11. Hey, Lookn good. First pic of the 300 by itself is my favourite. Last pic with the lightning is aight but the reflection off the side of the car puts it out of place. I think alot of those photos with the cars by themselves would look better if the wheels weren't turned. Nice work!
  12. This man knows. There was a doco on telly not to long ago about guys in america running Setups good for 400 miles and 12 second quarters. I remember the VSD and a picture of a spitfire on it, if that helps anyone Was quiet an outlay but hey, power is cheaper then fuel!
  13. Can you guys who are breaking 12s with around 200rwkw and lower post a pic of your slip? Im very interesting in 60foot times and ET MPH. Cheers
  14. I say R33 gts-t if you want serious fun. GTR for everything else. I drive a sligthly modded R33 Gts-t and have driven a slightyl modded R32 GTR recently. My car felt quicker but his 12.6 proved that wrong! I love my whale, i think most 33 drivers will know the feeling
  15. Thanks guys. Now i do feel retarded Cheers aye.
  16. Ok guys, I own an R33 gts-t. I can get hold of a Powerfc this weekend to suit it, however, i need to know wether my car is series 1 or 2 (dont assume im retarded just yet) The car is a late 95, and has the complete series 2 ignition system and AFM (which im led to believe, means the car is infact a series 1.5). I found this out after i bought the wrong splitfire coils. . . Does this mean that it would infact, have a series 2 ecu (and motor) I fail to see how the series one ECU would run the series 2 ignition system (ignitors in every coil and not a single) and AFM. Reply quick please guys, I have little time to decide! Edit: Also has the Series 2 style TPS
  17. Hey mate, Will these split pipes be suitable for a highflowed turbo? as in the moon shaped divider will not be in the wrong position to direct flow? Cheers.
  18. Hey guys, Im chasing a R33 Power FC to suit a series 2 Gts-t If anyone has one, Can you please PM me with a Price. Cheers, Bill
  19. Stop by gladstone and we'll cruise down together! Im keen as but cant say im a definet at this stage.
  20. out of interest mate what rims are you using them on?
  21. Hey mate, Was your hicas light on? I have had a similar problem that went away after i turned the car off and back on. only ever happened once, so i cant really offer any help, accept get the hicas and wheel alignment looked at
  22. Fit the stock rim? I doubt it. Whats the stock? 6.5/7 inchs wide? would think about 8's would be best. hmmm i so want these tyres!
