  1. I changed mine recently. Some new white ones. Surprisingly easy. Just patience with the rear cluster plugs. Also for anyone who isnt sure its the 4 grey twisties you change. At first i was like wtf 17 twist tops and i got 4 leds.... lol
  2. what you said is exactly my situation to the tee.
  3. All good mate, happy to help. If you do decide to look into any connection further please do disconnect the ground from the battery. Forgot to say that but it pays off to be careful haha. auto-elec might charge you an arm and a leg for small amounts of work but sometimes piece of mind is worth it.
  4. Take off the steering column covers. (Couple screws, piece of piss) Look around all your wiring looms. Especially places where splices have been made. The biggest give away is electrical tape. All the wiring is pretty well in your face once the covers come off. The smoke may be coming from further down in your footwell and the smoke is just making its path up and away out of your steering column section When you say you can still hear the indicator noise is that permanantly or stays on for a little while? It definitely sounds electrical. Do you have an aftermarket turbo timer in the car? Has the person who installed the car alarm made proper electrical terminations or just twist a twist and tape job. It probably wouldnt hurt to double check all your fuses too. More of a look and discover type thing really. With any electrical fault be careful though. No one likes shorting out wires and blowing up the pcb to your mongoose alarm hahaha
  5. no no no this has nothing to do with the tailshaft haha. the noise happens regardless of speed! good thought though thankyou. i did however site the nismo clutch and flywheel gear website and vwallah, came across this NISMO clutch discs and flywheels listed in this contents may generate resonant (rattling) noises from the transmission and bearings, compared to NISSAN genuine parts. Please note that this noise is not a quality or performance failure. http://www.nismo.co.jp/en/products/competition/clutch/ so yeah well. something else to add to the list of thoughts. i spose the only real way to find out is to drop the gearbox and look but shit thats a venture just for some peace of mind haha
  6. Okay well to put this thread to a little ease. I had recently taken the car on a dyno run. etc etc etc and to my dismay it turns out the car is only running just over 10psi. the techs put this down as the sensor not being calibrated properly within the gtr display. Secondly he did say that the gtr pressure sensor is different to that of gtt sensor so hence the readout differences, little let-down but hey. guess its good to have the pressure readouts there for other reasons. I guess in the near future ill have to either change a pressure sensor or recalibrate the gtr mfd. (f**k knows how to do either of those hahahaha) but yeah thanks for your help guys!
  7. Took my car to a mechanic. Explained this same issue to him and presented them my car. They responded with it having to do with the clutch and light flywheel setup. How this makes that noise is beyond me
  8. Got my car home, heard a rattle in the glovebox. Opened it up. A bloody flare covered in jap writing
  9. I had the same nonsense on idle. New coils fixed that
  10. Yeah definitely need to sort this out. Thanks heaps guys. Im around Revesby area. Ill be handy with a case of beers if someone with a bit more knowledge than i could assist in finding out what the goes is! Nevertheless its heading over to tunehouse for a dyno run in about two weeks. Guess i could ask them to look over the car. The car coming from japan means its a mystery, I wonder if the auction papers could show a bit more information. Good thing i cant read japanese hahaha (buggered if id know how to get this translated). all in all i just want to know exactly whats in the car so eventually i can choose to f**k it off or build off it !
  11. Negative, no front mount intercooler in this case. So yeah itd have to be the stock side mount. Excuse my lack of knowledge, but that stock side mount intercooler. Whereabouts is he hiding in the engine bay?. The last 3 months have been the biggest learning curve for me haha. Though on the other hand this weekend I didnt have time to look around for anything you guys suggested but as soon as I do ill be right back on here
  12. Okay sweet, thanks guys. and well when i had bought the car it would misfire coming onto boost or any load. Since that i changed the coilpacks and plugs and shes running like a dream. I bought an OBI Port and got nissan datascan out and running on the laptop. It qued up to the computer so that leads me to assume its a stock ECU. Otherwise it wouldnt reference the laptop/program. ill follow what yous said. see what i can find. thanks heaps for the help, anything else you can come up with would be extremely appreciated. cheers
  13. First off, All rhymes intended. Secondly, Hi, Long time stalker of the SAU forums. Not a very often poster. Here is my situation, Recently (3 months ago) i had purchased privately a beautiful 1998 R34 Gt-t The more i look at the car the more i tend to notice, These arent negative things. Just id like to further my knowledge and get some insight to whats happening. As it is now (as far as i know is fairly stock. The only real modifications ive come across are as follows. -Greks oil filter relocation -Splitfire coilpacks -Hks Coilovers -Power steering fluid relocation -3.5" Exhaust -R34 MFD -Aftermarket Oil Cooler. (Im guessing aftermarket as i dont think nissan uses bright blue coloured piping around the cooler) -1.5 way diff locker Now onto the real questioning. Looking through my engine bay one day i noticed on the right hand side, a valve or solenoid looking setup with two hose ports. These two hose ports not being attatched to anything led me to consult the R34 manual. Subsequently ive found that its the turbo pressure solenoid valve. According to the r34 MFD installed in the car, at peak ive managed to crank 0.93kg/cm2, now after some googling and a random ass turbo pressure conversion chart the value comes out to 13.3psi. I then choked on my milo and had a realised maybe thats something to do with this solenoid not being connected. Ill have some photos uploaded. Any advice or knowledge you can share will be really helpful. And also 13 psi feels like its too much for a stock turbo. Dont really wanna blow anything Thanks in advance
  14. a mate and this thread taught me to change the plugs in my rb, everyones at a different point on a learning curve, you at one point didnt know how to either so no need to be a wank about it. nevertheless i use bcpres-11 gapped at 1.1mm works plenty fine for me and actually fixed a misfire issue so yeah, happy hunting!
  15. Funnily enough ive found this seemingly exact the same thing with my Gt-t, the drone happens low revs ever so slightly in third (between 1500-2500) quite loudly in 4th (1000-3000) followed by 5th in the same range i couldnt really put an ear to what it was. im not too sure how the clutch would be interacting with this to make the noise at all, whether i have a nismo clutch or not id be happy to find out. if so i will repost it back here. hopefully this thread has some life or someone can share some know how as id really like to know, the car i bought was inspected by two separate mechanics none of them which picked up on the noise. hopefully its nothing, a few people has said to me it could be just me "slaving" the gearbox and engine or being in too high of a gear for the speed im doing being that the noise goes away with an increase in revs. Eh anyway enough blabbing. Someone come up with something! cheers
