  1. Hi guys, decided to start a build thread on the forum as I've been asking some advice on this forum and probably will be asking more in the future. Since I have my car for a while already the first post will be somewhat of a summary of what has been done to my car up to now. So, my car is a 1997 R33 GTST which has the URAS R334 conversion kit, not something you see that often( and not to everyone's liking). When I bought the car the engine was basically stock except for: FMIC, HKS air filter and an Apexi catback system. As with most Skyline's it didn't take very long before the first upgrades were ordered, so in came the: Tomei Poncams, new FMIC and piping as the old piping had too many couplers to my liking, Nismo Super Coppermix clutch + lightweight flywheel, Splitfire coilpacks, Apexi 3 inch front pipe, Tomei Expreme turbo elbow, decat, Apexi boostcontroller set to 11 psi, chipped ecu by RSP/Dynotuner in the UK. After a while the car developed a misfire on one of the cylinders which could be fixed(temporarily) by revving the engine hard, this misfire started to get worse and worse after a couple of weeks until the car got hard to start. At that point I decided to do a comp test and.... yupp 0 compression on cyl 6, so off with the head and then the problem became evident. 2 valve guides had cracked and were missing pieces. 2 of the valves were bent probably because i was driving the car with the broken valve guides for a while(even raced it like that lol). So 2 new valves and some maintenance parts later the head was back on and it was happy again.
  2. So this showed up last Saturday Precision 6466 Gen 2, T4 .84 AR
  3. I've bought a set of 16" MT Street SS drag radials and R32 GTR wheels, as for the rest of the suspension I'm still looking into what would work. With yours running on e85 I don't think you should worry about WMI. I know what you mean about the dyno thread, I've been reading that and several other topics for a while now trying to decide on a turbo. I think I'll bite the bullet and place the order for a 6466, now gotta decide on a manifold...
  4. Appreciate your input. With the 6466 rated at 900 hp wouldn't it be a bit big for my goals? Which turbine housing would suit best? the T3 .82 or T4 divided .84? I will have to look into how to setup the WMI fail safe in the Haltech. Currently I'm not running any of that yet, it's just the parts I have laying around until I've made a decision on a turbo and manifold. But the preferred setup would be to have all of it controlled by the Haltech. What kind of power and response do you get with your current setup?
  5. Looking for a bit of advice on the setup I have in mind for my rb25det r33. Spool H beam rods CP 87mm 9.0:1 pistons with upgraded pins Supertech +1mm valves Supertech single valve springs Haltech platinum pro ECU ID 1000 injectors Deatschwerks 340lph fuel pump Tomei Poncams Water meth injection Maybe a small shot of nitrous as I have a kit laying around. Running 98 octane on the street and 102 octane when going to the track. Power wise my goal is to be able to at least be able to run consistently in the low 11's on the 1/4 mile so whatever power is needed for that. However I would still like it to be fun to drive on the street so hoping this will be possible without massive lag. Any advice on turbo’s that would suit my needs? I was looking at the Precision Gen 2 6062 (T3 .82, 3 inch vband) myself but there doesn’t seem to be much info on this turbo on a RB25, would this be a good choice?
  6. Using this topic again. I've now changed my intercooler, piping, checked the timing and managed to run a lower et of 14.2 @ 159 km/h while pedaling it in first. Got the R32 GTR wheels and I am now looking to buy the MT's but it seems that the Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial Tire - 3793R is discontinued. The replacement is the Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S - 3460, which is a steel belted tire, so it has a stiffer sidewall. Are you guys still able to get the old model or are you running the new one and does anyone have any feedback on the new tire.
  7. Thanks, I’ll add checking the timing to my list. The current tires are worn out and need to be replaced, so might as well get some good tires on there right away. Not sure where I should be looking for a restriciton though, exhaust is 3 inch all the way to the back except for the the turbo elbow which is stock. Intercooler and piping is free off rags/newspaper or whatever could be stuffed in there.
  8. Thanks! Good to hear that the drivetrain should be fine. 13’s was what I was expecting to run, so I was disappointed when I only managed to run mid to high 14’s all day. The gearing is all standard as far as I know, the car was completely stock when it arrived from Japan. On the ¼ mile I have to shift into 4th gear just before the finish. I’ll be checking over the car the coming days to see if I can find out why it’s low on power. Already ordered some new intercooler piping, as the current setup uses too much hose clamps and silicone joiners. Also need to do a pressure test as I suspect that the bov is opening when on boost. Hopefully it'll be fixed soon and run some good times with decent tires on it
  9. Thanks guys! More power will be coming soon, saving up for a standalone, turbo, injectors and fuel pump right now. Clutch is already changed for Nismo Super Coppermix kit The ecu is a stock ecu with a flashed chip by RSP in the UK, nothing fancy but gets rid of the flat spot when turning up the boost.
  10. Thanks for that, so 16's it is. I'm not sure why my mph is so low, I did about 7 runs during the weekend and on 4 or 5 of them I ended up with a 14.7 @ exactly 157.21km/h each time which is about 98-99mph. Like you say, I'm not getting value for money with my mods right now, compared to other Skylines I've driven it feels a bit tame. I'm planning to do a boosleak check soon to start "troubleshooting" Should I start stocking up on axles too when running the MT ET's ?
  11. I’m in need of some advice regarding tires/wheels for dragracing, as dragracing Skylines isn’t that popular in the Netherlands I figured I’d post here in the hope you guys can help me out. As of now the specs on my car are: Stock spec 2 RB25det Stock turbo Tomei poncams Boostcontroller set to @11 psi 3 inch frontpipe, decat, Apexi 3 inch catback RSP/Bell’s stage 1 ECU FMIC HKS filter We don’t have a dedicated dragstrip in the Netherlands, so most races are held on an airfield or on the straight of a circuit. For the bigger events the “track” gets prepped but even then I seem to have problems running the times that I feel I should be able to run. My best time for now is a 14.4@98 mph with a 60 ft of 2.3 which in my opinion is not up to the potential of the car. I feel that I should be able to get some better times if I get my 60 ft times down but for that I would need to get some decent tires on the car, currently running my 18 inch wheels with 265/35’s From reading a bit it seems that the MT ET streets are the way to go, I just don’t know which size to get. I’ve been looking at the 255/60/15 and 255/50/16, the 16 inch being closer in overall size to what I’m currently running but which one would be better? And would the stock R33 GTST wheel be adequate to run the 255/50/16 MT Streets?
  12. I too have this noise after installing a Nismo Coppermix clutch kit on mine. On mine you can hear it in 3th,4th and 5th at low rpm, when going past 2500 rpm the noise is gone. All my engine, gearbox mounts are ok.
  13. Hi there, Just signed up to the forum so saying hi! I live in the Netherlands and my car is a 1997 GTST with a URAS R334 conversion. The car currently sits @300 hp but I do have plans to get that up to the 450-500hp range hopefully somewhere next year. So here's some pictures
