  1. Chucked my R33 on the Dyno tonight for the first time since i got it. On low boost (0.5 bar) it made a 256rwhp . Then after trying to find out how the hell the Blitz EBC worked we managed to get it to do a run on 1.4 bar and and it made 320rwhp at the rev limiter!! This was due to how we had set up the boost controller, so its not really at the cars max power. We were short on time and never ended up fiddling further after this run and left it as is for now . I'm real chuffed anyway and i just had to tell the world
  2. they have problems with main bearings going from over reving, this is mainly due to the way it likes to rev so people seem to wanna let it sit on the limiter ... pretty strong little engine though.
  3. Christmas is only 5 weeks away ... scary hey. So what are people expecting for Christmas or do people want? My number one is get car on the road. Not sure what else to ask for, as long as its not jocks and sock i don't care
  4. If you want a perfect car buy a brand new one .. period. No second hand car is perfect IMHO. Hang in their guys, cause if importing slows down (which it looks like it is) and people keep writing imports off left right and centre they be worth heaps in no time ... hehehe .. jokes. I hate to say it importing can be cheaper but its a risk as well and a lot of the time you can get cheaper here with a lot less hassel and without the bloody long wait!!! If an importer tells you your car will be here and ready in 5 weeks, multiply that by 3 and you might be closer to the truth.
  5. the drift is better in this version too as its like intial D in the mountains. hehehe
  6. yeah a mate imported a immaculate S2 r33 for 18g almost stock ... mind you it took approx 5 months to get here and get complied. Imagine the wait now .... The guys who were doing my car said that if my car hadn't got here when it did it wouldn't get here till next year.
  7. There should be no reason why you can't get that money for a line as it sounds in very good condition. I agree with Ferni though with the kms though, if you see one with lower kms but not in as good condition, the kms are probably wound back. Its pretty hard to import anything at this stage so the market for skylines/imports should stablize before too long. I'm hoping for my skyline before Xmas but i doubt it .... stoopid compliance process
  8. I thought before i went diving in head first i'd ask, anyone had an experience with removing a HKS FCon V pro From an R33 or anycar? Is it a just a plugin wiring loom? The Air flow meter plug is still there so i'm guessing that most of the original wiring loom may still be there. I hope anyway. anyone got any advice?
  9. pics would be nice. When do you plan on tuning/dynoing it?
  10. it's not lag thats noticable in lightly modified cars its a lot more noticable in the cars with upper size turbos and even then it won't be very noticable.
  11. wasn't too far off anyway ...
  12. From memory their about 900 new from PWR. A VL one will fit and i think it was subzero that used them a fair bit at one stage. If you do get a VL one make sure you get the core from the turbo model as their much better than the standard ones.
  13. subzero can do the short runner ones too ... I believe they simply cut the standard runners and attach the plenum to it. I would have to say the topic of plenums is rather opinionated. If you don't want to spend a big amount of cash on your car simply leave this area alone and make do with the mods in other areas. RB25 Aftermarkets plenums have very little power increase for those still running the stock turbos as the stock plenum will out flow the standard turbo. The standard plenum from what i have read starts to run out of breath once you get up around the 350rwhp. The general rule of thumb is for every PSI of boost increase your meant to see approx 7-9 hp (providing all other areas of the engine are efficent, obviously differs from turbo to turbo too.). But once you start to make over this hp mark the power increase as to each PSI of boost pressure added decreases. Runner length also plays a big part in engine response and behavour. The longer the runner (providing the runner has decent flow properties), the slightly less engine response (read:lag). The shorter the runner the quicker the engine responses. The longer runners however increase capacity of the plenum system so to speak which inturns gives the affect of a much larger plenum that what is actually there which means higher HP support. In my opinion cast plenums are always much stronger than the sheet metal fabricated ones. While some sheet metal ones can give no problems at all they still have the potential to split and fail. I have heard of a story of a sheet metal fabricated plenum blowing apart while on a dyno and doing damage to a vehicle. This is almost a worse case scenario though. Usually if anything do go wrong the plenum would crack around the welds if at all. Another issue with aftermarket plenums is the positioning of the bell mouths (if any) and even air distrubition. This has the potentional to cause more problems than its worth. Personally when i see a standard rb25 plenum with the throttle body cut and moved to the front of the plenum i shudder. The standard plenum was not designed to have air enter from this point so air distribution inside plenum would not do ideal and could cause one or a number of cylinders to recieve a vastly different amount of air to others, which in turns causes leaning. I'm not going to say which plenum I think is best as they all have their good and bad points. I have a Greddy plenum on my R33, it was on there when i bought the car so I'm kind of biased, but that doesn't necessary mean its the best plenum.
