3rd kerb? which is also the normal racing line... and the fact is you can hear he was off the throttle when the spin started and only picked the throttle up when he was had done more than 90degrees to try and keep the spin going and hopefully end up pointing the right way... they've also got data showing he hit the brakes hard as Mark rejoined the track right across his nose onto the racing line, which is a big no-no normally... as is completing a pass off the track. How Mark escaped without 3 drive-thru penalties in that race I have NFI

The guy on the inside/racing line doesn't have to yeild! It's his corner. You can legitimately drive out to the edge of the track and run the guy on the outside out of room if you want. When they collided they were only mid track just after the apex. If you're going round the outside, you're making your own arrangements - you have no claim to the corner. That is the way its always been.

Yes well Massa bashing has been popular, but can't be justified in this instance. 1. The kerb is the racing line... 2. its not like he was understeering off the track. Even aftert the collision which took him further off line than he would have been Massa remained on the track. And 3. the Collision was wheel to wheel. Webber was further ahead at trun in, but because he was trying to go round the outside his corner speed was lower than Massa who had the racing line. So as they collided just after the apex, Massa was on the racing line and the cars were perfectly alongside each other. It's Massa's corner. you guys need to watch the replay again... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-k-5JLlIiZM&feature=player_detailpage#t=32s the hack here is the guy who blew the start, turned into the guy he was attempting to pass round the outside the first time, then tried it again later without leaving room for the car on the racing line, shortcuts the track and completes the pass off course, cuts right across the other guy's nose as he rejoins the track straight to the racing line with no regard for any other drivers, and ultimately blames Grosjean for hitting him at the end as well! Complete hack.

funny how everytime it rained he was right in the mix...

Massa had the inside, it's his corner. Contact was made wheel to wheel so there's no doubt Massa was well and truly there... There was still plenty of room outside for Mark to use when they collided. Massa hadn't even run him out of room when they made contact! Its just that Mark was too greedy and wouldn't give an inch. Trying to go round the outside is always a risk and takes 2 willing participants. Mark's been around long enough to know who's who... I can't believe Mark didn't get a penalty for completing the pass off the circuit, short-cutting the course, and the dangerous re-entry to the track! Add in the avoidable collision, and there's a trifecta all in the one spot - yet no penalty at all. Same goes for turning down on Maldonardo at the same corner.Another avoidable accident Mark caused. In previous races all season long that has been a drive-through! He even blamed Grosjean for making contact with him! I think he shoulda gone to spec-savers... and he didn't even see the lights go out at the start!

lol, I reckon Kimi was dissapointed! He even took a swig before the shake'n'spray, trying not to waste the champas...
-
why pay for something everyone's giving away free??? if you're going round the outside of someone, don't pretend they're not there and take the apex! Can't blame Maldonardo for that!
-
Yep, there will be many lols at his toys being thrown from the cot next year! He doesn't have the temprament to run a midfield car. Or to get beaten as often as not by another teammate...
-
yeah, Kobayashi is an exciting driver. Pommy commentators were very harsh on him for taking their boy Jenson out, when in reality is was Rosberg moving over on him as he went for the gap that caused the collision. It was only slightly ambitious on Koba's part, but that's the kind of thing he always does and more often that not gets away with. I don't think it would have been a problem if not for Rosberg who probably didn't see him coming.

Massa's back from wherever the hell he's been for the last couple of years. The last two races have been the old Massa. Faster than Alonso at this one and no mechanical problems for Alonso to blame it on. Hope he keeps it up! if you're only interested in the front few cars, I guess it was boring, but there were battles going on back in the field all race long. I enjoyed the race.

don't worry about Kimi - he certainly isn't...

the Red Bulls' qualifying times at the same track that year in the 3 qualy sessions: SV 1:22.108 ---- ---- MW 1:21.494 1:20.984 1:22.429 bah racecraft - everyone's been telling us for years that Vettel has no racecraft and can't pass - hasn't stopped him from winning WDC's

ah... I see... the Landcruiser twin cam turbo diesel is definitely a better engine. But any diesel will be expensive. You will need moon gears in the diff to make it work too. TD42 is a giant of an engine as well. Would be surprised if it fits under a Val's bonnet! 1J or 2J the Valiant would be much betterer
-
Depending on your budget, what I'd buy is an auto 100 series Cruiser IFS with the 4.2 turbo. Awesome engine and box combo. Little bit weak in the front end - diff is a bit on the small side and the LCAs are a weak point, but most will be rectified by now. If you're looking for something a bit cheaper from the 1990s, a GQ Patrol 4.2 diesel with aftermarket turbo is the way to go. They perform better than the current Patrol TD and will go forever, patricularly if you get the early silvertop TD42. Manual is the pick of the gearboxes in them. The autos are known to blow up these days as they're getting a bit long in the tooth. But if you're willing to rebuild an auto with a couple of upgrades they'd be reliable. Mine gets 15l/100 towing a 1200kg camper trailer. Can't remember what it got last time I towed a car 3 or 4 years ago. And it gets 14l/100 by itself - around town or hwy doesn't make any difference, but mine is the high roof Safari import which is probably worse for hwy economy than a normal Aus delivered Patrol.

except of course for the fact that he was in top 10 in the test he did with Red Bull... He was also 2.5 sec quicker than Bruno Senna. On a track he'd never seen before and with no open wheel experience other than one or two brief drives at other tracks.
-
He looked absolutely devasted in the interviews after the latest incident. As much as I reckon he's a bit of a hack in heavy 1st lap traffic, he is fast and has more potential than most newcomers show. And I do like an underdog... so it would be nice to see him finish the season with strong, clean, fast races to silence his critics. A few good races in a row and it will all blow over, as it did for Maldonardo.

another angle of Aus GP Grosjean crash. Maldonardo clearly won the corner - fully alongside ont he way in. Grosjean had no business leaving a wheel in there at the exit - the corner was already lost. I agree he tried to leave room, but his judgement was very lacking.
-
Its not like Maldonardo struggled to make the turn - he was at normal race pace through the exit. And if Maldonardo was nowhere near alongside him, why was he leaving room through the apex? Malaysia - He just bumps Schumacher's right rear after being passed round the outside. No excuse for it. 100% his fault.
-
that's not the most unbiased appraisal of some of those incidents. Starting with the first example the crash with Maldonardo in Aus. I wouldn't call that heavy handed by Maldonardo. Its standard practice for the guy who won the corner on entry to take the racing line on the exit. Grosjean shouldn't have kept his nose in there. The corner was lost a long time ago! http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xpqzrk_f1-australian-gp-2012-grosjean-crash-with-maldonado_sport

If it were me, I'd be driving my car down to. What's the point of a road registered car that's not road useable? Just so you can claim it's not a race car? That way you don't need to buy the tow car you don't want anyway, and there's also no need to buy a trailer. But in all seriousness, putting your car on a truck for this one interstate event is a better option than buying a tow car that's not really suitable for the job anyway.
-
how is that tough? a stop-go penalty when you're at the back of the field anyway is slap over the wrist with a limp lettuce leaf. Particualrly since its his 27th crash of the year when others get a 10 place grid penalty for their 2nd prang of the season. WTF??? Webber's right, it is embarrasing at that level.
-
from jamesallenonf1: Massa ain't going anywhere next year. And Schumacher is certainly not in the running for that seat. And if Alonso wins a WDC for them, Vettel won't be going to Ferrari until Alonso retires!
-
Mercedes is, at best, the 5th fastest car in the field. But Sauber would have something to say about that, having had the measure of the Mercs a few times on tracks that suit them. Schumacher and Peter Sauber go way back too. If Shucmacher does want to keep racing F1, Sauber is where it will be. I can't see Ferrari being a serious option at all.
-
wow, so the most promising youngster, who coincidently is (was) in the Ferrari acadamy is not ready for a Ferrari drive, but DiResta and Hulkenberg are??? I guess by "ready" they meant willing to play second fiddle.
-
Anyone else tired of all these gearbox penalties? I hope Schumacher goes to Sauber. I think its more than a match for the Merc. Certainly looks after its tyres better, and is more reliable as well. In a way I'd like to see that more than him going back to Ferrari, which is a massive long shot. I'm picturing Schumacher in a Sauber beating Hamilton in the Mercedes... that would work for me! Perez has shown the car has the pace at tracks that suit it, so a final GP victory wouldn't be totally out of the question there either.
