  1. Hey deano_33,

i put my s-afc on before my FMIC...simply because I bought it even before I fully paid for my car. The drawback was that i nearly heat-soaked my stock cooler after being so gung-ho about all that new power. Had to keep backing off.

After getting my FMIC on, the car felt so much better, like it was no sweat if I wanted to push and push.

I'd suggest putting the FMIC first, cos like everyone else said, there's no problem. U'll feel an increase in power I'm sure. And it'll feel like the car can do more than u think.

The s-afc will be like the icing on the cake.

  2. Hi all,

I've been thinking of getting a custom plenum setup...looking at the Greddy plenum cos it looks good on top of everything. I was wondering what opinions there are of doing this mod. I understand it works out well for the FMIC since the air will travel a shorter distance, but what are the real pros and cons of going ahead with this?

Been thinking it over in my head for a while...just can't decide. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  3. does anyone know if its a requirement in qld?

yes it is...i was stopped about 30 meters from my house because I didn't have one on. Queensland transport said it was ok since i was buying a slimline plate from them..they asked me to take the old one off the car, and keep their receipt for the slimline plate in my glove box. They said this would be fine since the cops know about this kind of arrangement.

So I was driving for about a week without a front number plate, n as I was driving home one evening, the cops stopped me for it....even gave me a breath test for good measure. idiots. I showed them the receipts and even argued about the whole "Queensland transport said it was ok" and they said I should have a license plate on regardless blah blah blah...

Another friend of mine still hasn't got her plates on, n she does still get stopped. I dunno her reasons for not having one, but it's not advisable not to have it on.

    hope this helps

  4. hey wld747, my boost starts at about 3500rpm...n yea, higher boost seems to help the turbo do better. the power really comes on after about 5-6psi. I only just found that out. works almost like a vtec

The rising rate fuel regulator will even out the fuel maps so that your air flow meter voltage doesn't max out, allowing you to run more boost. My car experiences boost cut at 12psi now becasue of this, so it's been tuned down to 10psi. the fuel regulator will do away with this boost cut problem (so says gavin wood)

Before I put my FMIC on, I was running 15psi momentarily with no problems, the car made 200rwkw back then...now it makes 200rwkw on 12psi.

basically, just get an S-AFC plus a fuel regulator, and u should be fine. 16psi will be no sweat, if that's what u want.

  5. Yea i've got one...hi flowed T04, stainless steel wheels...I am told that running absurd amounts of boost is no problem with hi-flowed turbos. i've had it up to 15psi at times...now it makes 185rwkw on 10psi which is just nice for my daily driving. For real good results, an aftermarket ecu would help, but i'm only running an S-AFC, and with something like a rising rate fuel regulator, pushing 220rwkw could be done easily i think...just turn up that boost!

  6. Hey all,

A while back i had an a-pillar with a pair of autometer gauges installed in my car. Everything worked and still does, great little gauges. But ever since the day they were installed, the boost gauge lights up at night like normal, but the air/fuel gauge does not.

I've never really thought about having it checked out, but now i'm just beginning to wonder whether it actually does light up at night. Basically I can only tell what is being shown on the gauge by the colour of the LED's between 'lean', 'stoich' and 'rich'. everything else is dark.

My question is: Does the gauge actually light up from behind, or is it just like it is now...dark. ?

  7. hey all,

another 5000 k's done since the last service...but i'm gonna shop around for workshops this time instead of just obliging a friend.

What i'd like to know is how much a service usually costs...my last one cost me $320 bucks...which i thought was slightly high. Granted, they changed a couple of timing belts and stuff, but still...the bill shocked me.

Anyone got a mechanic they can recommend? I'm on the Gold Coast. I hear that Gavin Wood also does servicing work on Gtst's, anybody gone with him? I've gotta have him refill my tranny fluid on top of the usual stuff, so how much would that be extra?

    any help is appreciated

    thanks

  9. the coolant's gone down again, nearly bone dry...this would be the 3rd time in 3 weeks i would've had to fill the bottle up. It's not leaking to the ground at all, and i still can't see any staining around the assembly.

just to make sure, the container i'm lookin at is the overflow bottle, the excess coming from the radiator?

I'm not really familiar with radiator systems, but this is weird!!

  10. Hi guys,

I've got this problem where my refridgerant container keeps emptying out in about a week. I was just checking out the engine bay the other day and found the coolant container dry as a bone. Went out n bought some pre mixed stuff, and then filled it up. now it's almost gone again. There are no leaks or anything coming from the car, my driveway is spotless. Anybody know what could be happening?
